I recently bought glasses for the first time after wearing contact lenses daily for the past couple of years. I only need them to look at things that are far away, e.g. lectures at university, but for some reason, after taking off my glasses, things that are really close to my face are also really blurry, e.g. laptop screen.Is this normal? How often do you get a wrong prescription at the eye doctor?

I've been going for 9 years now and I haven't experienced this before.

I got these new trial lenses on Tuesday with my new prescription.My eyes are straining, pulling, so uncomfortable.It feels so wrong.

I read that for a few days this can be normal because eyes need time to adjust.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What brand of contacts are better?

My doctor is having me try another brand of contacts to see which ones I like better before making my decision of which pair I want.My first ones are acuvue moist brand and the new ones are acuvue oasis brand. Which ones do you use and prefere? I can't decide. The oasis ones have a slightly better prescription but its not extremely noticible.

Should I get reading glasses?

I'm visually impaired. I have glasses that I wear constantly.My prescription is -5.25 and -5.00 with 30 prism base out so 15 prism for each eye. I have super thick glasses that the lab couldn't make any thicker for me. However, since my lenses are so thick I also have stick on prisms over each of my lenses which makes things not as clear as they should be. I can't see anything at all when I take my glasses off. Everything is smeered, blurry, and double. Lately, I've been having difficulty and trouble with reading along with taking notes for school. Also with the homework that I have.It's a problem trying to read with my glasses because I have the stick on prisms over my lenses. When I lift up my glasses I can't see anything unless it's an inch in front of my nose. I feel embarrassed because I sit in front of class as close to the board as I can get but still can't see. I feel embarrassed, people make fun of me, and they stare at me. What are somethings that I should do before I visit my opthamologist? As in, until my appointment what can I do so that way I can read better and take better notes? Any suggestions or advice? Should I talk to my teachers about the problems that I am having? What should I do? Should I get reading glasses or something similiar such as reading glasses, bifocal, or trifocal? (please do not tell me to use a laptop because I try avoiding using the computer due to my vision. I'm a college student as well.)

Looking weird without glasses.?

I've been wearing glasses since I was 7.It's been 7 years since then, half of my life: O

So I was just wondering - my friends all say I look weird without my specs, but look fine with them on. Isn't that equivalent to saying I look weird? Since specs are kind of an accessory… so my face looks weird?

I'm not very self conscious of my appearance (kind of)(I hope), but I'll be getting contact lenses soon because of the sport that I do… when people say that you'll get used to your face without specs… does it really happen? I feel like I'm not only not used to my face, it just does look weird…

Can contact lenses and medical I'd bracelets be written off? Or how does this work? I have a scrip for contacts & glasses. Also a scrip for oxygen. I heard electricity for the oxygen machine can be written off???

Born Blonde & When I Got Older My Hair Became Dark Brown?

Hi! I am 14 years old. When I was born, my hair was blonde and my eyes were navy blue. When I became 2 years old, my mum cut my hair with the machine.So my hair started to darken and now it's Dark Brown, and my eyes changed to Dark Brown, too! Is there a solution that would change my hair to blonde (without dye or bleach, etc..) and my eyes to dark blue (without contact lenses or operations)? Please reply to me as soon as possible. Remove stain from wood?

I use daily contact lenses, and have done something really stupid: I left some stains from the liquid the lenses are preserved in on my table. I usually put the lense-wrapper on on this table, because it is closest to the mirror I use when putting them on. When I hastily leave for school, sometimes I don't have time to clean the eventual stains off the wooden surface of the table (yes, I'm usually quite late in the mornings), and it has left really ugly white stains. I have tried washing them away with green soap, but they are still there!
Does anyone know of a way to successfully remove them? Perhaps someone has dealt with exactly the same problem? I would be happy to get any suggestions that may help - I really like this table and would love to have it stain-free again! :)

Where can I get circle lenses safely?

I live in the US and they don't really sell them here. I really want them for a costume I'm doing. I have 20/20 vision. I don't want to do any sort of horrible damage to my eyes! I know that circle lenses aren't really good for you.but that's because they prevent your eyes from getting enough oxygen.so if you don't wear them fro like.over 10 hours every single day, then you should be alright.

I'd like to be as safe as possible here though. If I were to go to an eye doctor.would they be able to tell me the best brand to go for? Or would they tell me not to get them. I know they're illegal on some level in the US. I don't get how that works though.so would an eye doctor tell you not to get them because they wouldn't want you to sue them if something went wrong? I mean.so many people wear circle lenses with no trouble at all… so they can't be THAT BAD. What's the status on them in the US right now? How can I get them and would it be at all possible to consult an eye doctor about them?

Bloodshot in my eyes not going away?

There's bloodshot in my eye ever since I stayed up almost every night to study for my finals back in October.
I've been to two different eye doctors and they both said my eye is fine and there's nothing to worry and it'll go away.
I've read stories here that people have it for years! I look like a crazy raged person!

I don't have allergies, pain or anything. The redness is just there.

What should I do? Go to another eye doctor for the third time?

And he also told me not to wear any eye drops as my eye can get allergic to it.

Procedures/treatment for severe hyperopia with astigmatism?

I've been seeing an ophthalmologist since the age of 4, and it's been quite frustrating at times. About a week ago the slight astigmatism in my right eye was finally accounted for in a new pair of glasses. I'm hoping my dominant left eye will balance with the right, putting less pressure on it to perform. Custom contacts should be arriving in the next few weeks, Acuvue oasys for the left eye and proclear for the right.

My question is, are there any procedures that could be significantly beneficial to my situation? Multiple ophthalmologists have informed me there's basically no hope surgically, and I'll be in contacts/glasses for the rest of my life. Glasses make my eyes look enormous so it's very embarrassing to wear them in public, and the new custom contacts correcting for astigmatism are not cheap by any means. One box of six lenses runs about $150.

OD: +8.50 D -1.00 at 110
BC: 8.8

Any advice or help regarding my situation at all would be appreciated!

I got this new soft contact lenses last 3 days ago and i bought it in cosmetic shop. When i wear it, i can feel the edges of the lenses and my eye lids hurt. My contacts are stuck in my eyes?

Ive had contacts for a few years now and i have never had a problem wih putting them in or taking them out, only for the first couple days when i got them for the first time ever. I got new ones as a got a new prescripton bc it had changed. I also got a new brand acuvue because my doc recommended them because they are moist. (My other ones were on the dry side) but anyway i wanted the ones that you could wear for 30 days of continuous wear but they dont prescribe them for astigmatism which i have.So i got the regular ones and accidentally slept in them because they were so comfortable i forgot about them! I know this is bad but ive had them in for a week straight (blah blah blah i know this is bad for my eyes and what can happen) so i wanted to take them out to give my eyes a rest for a few days and now i CANT take them out! they are like suctioned to my eyeballs. How the heck can i get them out!!! please help i dont want to wear them any longer!!! im 14 btw

What does it mean if my eyes are red and burning?

I have Air Optix contacts and Opti Free Replenish that I use to keep them in.
I've worn contacts every day for the past 4 years and recently I accidentally fell asleep with them in for a long time, I had done that in the past before but this time my eyes were bright red and burning, I took them out and put in Eye Allergy Relief eye drops and the redness and burning would stop. When I would wear my contacts eventually in the evenings my eyes would become red but they didn't burn or hurt and I would put more eye drops in and they would clear up. I repeated this process for a week and then I started using Artificial Tear eyedrops and the redness stopped completely. Lately though because winter has started my eyes have been really dry and red and the Eye Allergy eyedrops caused my eyes to burn when I closed them so I got Lubricant Gel Drops and my eyes feel much better but only one of my eyes has been hurting today.So I am not going to wear contacts and continue with the Lubricant Gel Drops that are recommended by eye doctors. Any other suggestions?

Eyesight dropping rapidly, what can i do?

I know i need to go to an optician to get this checked out cause its getting really bad, but at the moment i dont have time to visit so i just want to see if i can get some info from here until i get an appointment.
basically my eyesight was terrible anyway (-6.75) and now i really cant see much wearing my glasses or contact lenses, im really struggling as its so bad.
I am really insecure about wearing glasses in public.but am scared that my eyesight is going to get so bad i can no longer wear contact lenses.
on top of this, as ive stopped growing now, and my eyesight is still declining, im honestly worried about becoming clinically blind at some stage.
I study medicine so look at books and computer screens often, but i cant really stop doing that.
is there any way to help prevent my eyes worsening, improve my eyesight, or just something???

Does it matter what eye drops you use with Restore lenses?

I had AcRYSofiQRestore lenses implanted and other than being able to read without my glasses everything else has become a bad dream. I am overly sensitive to lights all lights. Car lights have multi halos, traffic lights, porch lights.My distance vision is horrible, I have double vision, I have Squiggle lines in one eye, I get what seems like a film over my eyes.My doctor is telling me that I need to use Restasis and that will help clear up the problem.My question is, is there another drop that I can use? Had my doctor taken the time to explain to me the pros and cons about these lenses I would never have considered them. He only focused on the pros and so did the pamplet. I am going to see a specialist to see if I can have anything done to help my vision. I would appreciate any information. I definitely would not recommend these lenses to anyone.

When I was fitted for contact lenses, my diameter was measured at 14.5 and base curve 8.6. The contact lenses I'm trying to order only come in 13.8 diameter and base curve 8.6. What difficulties would I have wearing these contacts when the diameter is so much different?

Problem with restor lens implant?

15 mos ago left eye restor lens implant. Poor vision all 3 distances, between 20/40 & 20/30. Ghost vision reading in bright light only. Diopter off by 1/2. Will need Yag & possibly PRK to get better vision. Will PRK help me to see better intermediate & reading, or just correct distance only, or can all 3 distances be improved? Chances of dry eye after PRK? I've read where Yag & PRK sometimes do not improve anything, is this a possibility.My doctor @ Duke talked about explanting and going with a monofocal Nanoflex lens. I would really like the opinion of a doctor on this site. Thank you.

So can I just choose the brand I like then see an optometrist and ask him/her for a prescription for that brand? (I'd like AirOptix for Astigma)
I know that unlike spectacles, they cannot write a prescription and leave the choice of brand and model to the patient (it's not just power and cylinder, but also diameter and BC and many other factors.In fact AirOptix for Astigma may not even be suitable for me)

One eye got worse by .25 and one got better by .25 according to my eye doctor's findings. I asked if that meant one eye got better, and he said with the colored contact lenses I had been using my prescription would change once a week anyway.

Monthly Contact Lenses: Biofinity vs Optix Aqua?

I'm on a Biofinity one-month trial pair right now and they seem pretty fine, except sometimes you can feel that you have contacts in your eyes and a little bit dry, alittle bit uncomfortable and blur your vision for seconds. The doctor said I can come back after a week and tell her if I want to try another pair or stick with Biofinity, so I did a little research and found that Biofinity and Optix Aqua are the best two monthly disposable contacts; so anybody have ever use Optix Aqua? or they good? and also what about Biofinity, do they sometimes blur your vision? Any comments on them Thank You !

If I have 14.3mm diameter contact lenses, is it alright to wear 14.2mm ones?

I was online looking for colored contact lenses, and I found a great pair! The only issue is the size. They say that they are prescription-strength 14.2mm circle lenses, and my prescription ones are 14.3mm.Is it safe to wear them anyways, or should I continue looking for a different pair?

Wrinkles under my right eye, need freaking help?

I caused it to myself, didn't know how to even cause wrinkles under the eyes or something like that. Never cared, looked or knew anything about wrinkles and such stuff. But now it's irritating me, and I really do not want this damn wrinkles when the summer is here, it DOES not look good on a 19 years old guy! This is irritating me a lot. I wore contact lenses before, I was feeling my right lense quite a lot on my lower eye lid.To bring more comfort to my eye with the lense on, I started pulling my skin there with my finger. Eventually I got these freaking wrinkles, and my left eye is almost perfect. NOW, I don't want any "Put a cucumber" for half an hour or put "Green Tea & Camomille"because I don't have the time or "facial exercises", because I've googled it facial exercises and some say it causes more some say it doesn't do ***, and some say it works, I don't want to make it worse. If I was 25-30 years old I'd accept this. But being 19 years old, becoming 20 this year, having *** up wrinkles below my right eye and having my left eye almost perfect, and knowing that I CAUSED THIS to MYSELF actually irritates me and I want to fix the problem I caused. How to survive a day without contacts/glasses?

I am VERY short sighted, but managed to leave both my glasses and all of my contact lenses at my boyfriend's home. He is away for a whole day tomorrow, but I need it for work. However, I can't break in to his house, so how do I cope with not being able to see anything tomorrow (I can still do work, I just won't be able to see people/things clearly)? Thanks.

Sight going funny or side affects?

From yesterday my sight feels a bit different! I have to wear contact lenses or glasses for looking at things far away so all the time! But yesterday it started where I'm looking at things and they seem to be different colour wise. Not majorly! Just feels like a haze of Gray sometimes?
And when I stand up I feel a little dizzy and lightheaded but I have this quite a lot!
I'm on iron tablets at the moment just to add!

Looking For Beauty Advice?

As a child I was never taught about makeup, or about how to look good or anything to do with being a girl at all (heck I had to learn about menstruation the hard way).

I don't wear makeup often but when I do I think I look already.

I was wondering what kinds of things can I do to look beautiful.

What's the best way to get rid of acne and blackheads (I have a lot of blackheads on my nose and chin)?
I use facial masks a lot and it helps a little but then my face peels a lot and gets really dry.
I wash it every night before bed and I even use moisturizers but then my face gets too oily (no matter what kind I use).

Also, I have high amount of sebum in my hair (which is what makes your hair look greasy) and I am unable to use conditioner or my hair will look like I dumped baby oil all over it.
But since I can't use conditioner, my scalp gets extremely dry and I get dandruff.

Also I was thinking of getting circle contact lenses.Do you think they would look good?

Contact Lens Website Reliability?

I've been looking for contact lenses online, I've gotten my exam and everything and am just trying to see what the best price is. I don't have insurance, so I cover everything 100% from exam to whatever I need to wear [glasses and/or contacts]

I found this website after doing some research, and it has reviews that're mostly good. Really the worst reviews I've read have been about the Customer Service being sucky, or them sending the wrong contacts but offering to fix their mistake, taking to long on shipping that sort of thing. The good reviews seem to have people that have been using the site for a long time [over 1 year] but, I'd like to see if anyone on here has used the site.

I need Bausch and Lomb PureVision 2 contact lenses, and if I buy them through 1-800-Contacts they're $43.88/box [1 box per eye] but Contactlensking.com has them for $22.95/box [1 box per eye] which is obviously significantly cheaper.So, have you heard of this site? What were your opinions of it?

One contact lens is larger?

Today while I was wearing my contacts my left eye started really bothering me. Almost burning.So I took them both out and my left eye is still sensitive. When I looked at them side by side, I noticed my right contact lens is significantly larger than my left. I know my right eye has a corrective lens for astigmatism, could that be it? It's always a pain for me to get that one in because its so large. What do I do for my sensitive eye and why is my right contact larger? Thanks! :)

I have more or less perfect eye sight. I can see things in the distance. I can see up close. I can read perfectly but whenever I look at a light (street lights, house lights) it's very blurry. Especially when I'm outside. I'm 15 by the way if that helps.

Almost out of contact lenses and I've lost my glasses?

I'm quite worried. I have been off school for the last 2 weeks because of back pain and through that time I haven't worn any daily disposable contacts.So I thought I had some left. I have to go to school tomorrow but I've ran out. I cannot find my glasses anywhere and I can't really ask my mum to buy any more contacts (or glasses) because they cost like £30 a box. I don't know what to do, I feel guilty making my mum pay for new ones but I need them. And I don't know what I am going to do tomorrow. I could just try and wing-it. Listen to the teachers rather than read what is on the white boards, but what if they ask me any questions? I'm freaking out, I hate school as much as it is, and when I know the answer I am alright answering (only if a teacher picks on me. I could never raise my hand and voluntarily answer) but what if I can't see the question and I end up getting laughed at or something?

I don't want to tell my mum because she already has so much to deal with - we can barley afford to pay bills and food, and she's just applied for benefits to help with the rent.My step-dad works nights and barley gets paid and my mum doesn't work as no where is hiring or want to hire her.My auntie had to pay for the last box and we usually get 2 boxes every 2 months, but I've been treating the last box like gold, only wearing them when I was at school, so that lasted a little longer than a month.

I pull my tear line down and look up and put contact in white area and look down and BAM its in my eye

Ive been wearing contacts for about 9 months now.the first 4-5 months, i had a bausch&lomb astigmatism contact that always irritated my eyes.i noticed that throughout those months, my nearsightedness was getting worse, and possibly the same with my astigmatism.

i then decided to switch to acuvue oasys and have had much better comfort and satisfaction.i dont think my vision has gotten any worse since i switched to them.

is it possible for contacts to worsen eyesight? i know for a fact that my nearsightedness has gotten worse quickly in just a few months since i started wearing them.my prescription has been the same for over 2 years before i started wearing them; havent gotten it checked recently though. 19 y/o btw
Added (1). Also, during the time when i had the bausch&lomb contacts, i would get a scratch on my cornea like once a week, so i always had to take 1-2 days off of wearing them.i tried changing to a new pair but it kept happening.never had a single scratch since i switched to acuvue

Why do my contacts burn my eyes all of a sudden?

I've had contacts since June 2012 and I never had any problems with burning or anything. Recently though, I got the flu vaccination nasal spray in mid January and the next day my contacts burned my eyes really badly! I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with the nasal spray vaccination but I couldn't figure out why this was happening all of a sudden.
Now, my contacts don't bother me every day, but it's randomly. (Btw I use the ciba vision dailies for astigmatism) I can never predict when they will burn, but when they do I have to wear my glasses. I don't like wearing my glasses but now I end up wearing them 4-5 times a week rather than once or twice. Please help! I don't know why this keeps happening to me!

Can you wear two brands of contact lenses?

I'm on a scheme with my opticians that really works for me but it's quite expensive and I only get a few pairs of contact lenses a month.Is it safe to buy additional pairs from another brand and alternate between them, or do you have to use the same brand?
Added (1). I get 10 pairs a month and ideally I'd like more but like I said it's too expensive for me to get more from the opticians. I want to carry on with the scheme but buy additional pairs online so that if I want to go over 10 pairs a month I have the option

How to get my 2 year old to wear his glasses?

My youngest son (of 3 boys) has recently been prescribed glasses. Awhile back we noticed that his left seemed to turn in more.It's not really really bad, and sometimes you can't even notice it, but better safe than sorry right? The pedi.eye doctor we saw said that we'll try the glasses.In some cases, a child wears the glasses for awhile, it gets corrected and then he/she doesn't have to anymore. If the glasses don't work - minor surgery, so I'd REALLY like this to work.

Only problem is: My son is not at all interested! We paid more to get the special toddler glasses frames - with the strap that goes around the head. We also paid more to get lenses that are shatter proof, scratch proof, etc. He will wear them for maybe two minutes, then pull them off and gets mad and pulls away and fusses if we try to put them back on.

Any suggestions would be REALLY appreciated. The eye doctor did say to do it gradually, but right now it seems like we're making no progress =(

My contact lens have a very small tear, can I still wear it?

I recently got contacts, it isn't even been 2 weeks.My right lens is slightly torn on the edge, I was just wondering can I still wear it? It doesn't really bother me, just sometimes, and when it does start to irritate me I simply take it out. I have very bad astigmatism and I get very bad headaches when I focus my vision to much without my lens. Someone please help me!

Why does my contact lens keep moving around the eye?

Hey guys!
It's my first time wearing contact lens, it's a soft type.
I know when the lens is inside out, I can recognize by the shape of it.
So the problem is when I put my lenses and close my eyes, they just stick to my inner lid and go upwards in the eye and I have to pull it out then, because it does not come down when I close my eyes again. Also, when I blink, my lens moves alot & vision gets blurry.
Should I get rewetting eye drops? Do they help?
Or What should I do ??
