Hi I got my prescription today and I went to the eye-glasses store and asked for contacts. Everything was fine until I asked if I could get coloured contact lens, and the person said it would be highly unlikely due to my poor vision? Can I still get the coloured contacts (he said I can still get the clear ones though).

Advice on color contacts for a blue-eyed person?

I'm a guy with light blue eyes and I'm a transplant to Mexico, so my eyes are unusual here and get a lot of double-takes and stares. In the US, where I'm from, they're no big deal.

I've been wearing regular lenses for vision for years, so I recently bought some enhancers, more out of curiosity than anything else, and they ended up making my eyes look darker and not particularly enhanced. The ones I got were Acuvue 2 Colours - blue.

Does anybody know of enhancers that don't do that… That actually would make blue eyes stand out more?

What is it that makes them "go bad" I have never worn contacts but I am starting on later on this week. The ones I am getting are weekly, but what makes them only last a week? What happens if you forget and wear them an extra day are they not still good? I just don't get it.

Do I have to pay for my contact lens?

So I paid for a contact exam yesterday because I wanted to try contacts for the first time instead of boring glasses. The exam was 75 dollars and they exam my eyes and I learned how to put on and take off my contacts. They gave me a mini kit of solution and case for my contacts. And after that I made a follow up appointment for next Thursday. My question is when I go in for my follow up appointment do I still have to pay for more contacts are do they provide me with more? Because they only gave me a 1 week trail of contacts and I was wondering do the 75 I paid cover the exam, 1week trail, and more contacts? Addition information: I have medicine in my contacts each eye a different amount I have a astigmatism in my eye witch make my contacts a little slippery to put on. And my insurance doesn't cover my contacts I had to pay 75 dollars out my pocket.

Switched eye glasses and noticed a difference?

Initially when i switched my eye glasses at first i noticed my eyes were being pulled harder than from the previous pair.

They both are the same exact prescription lens but just a difference in the style.

When i swapped back and forth between them i noticed that the old glasses didnt pull as hard as the new ones.

Is this just my eyes adjusting? I mean why would my eyes need to adjust if they are the same type of glasses if this is the issue…
Added (1). I can understand that pitbull my last glasses had something on the sides that kind of blocked my peripheral vision. These are more open.

Cheap eye examinations and glasses (with lenses) in Texas?

A friend of mine was wanting new glasses but was too impatient and selfish to wait for her mother to get the money together to take her to an eye doctor at Walmart's Vision Center.

My friend literally broke her glasses in hopes that it would convince her mom to buy her the new glasses now.

Not only is she now grounded but she might possibly have to wait almost 2 months before she can get glasses again. She is pretty much blind without her glasses.

Her mom doesn't have the money to pay for the exam and the glasses (with the lenses) at Walmart, especially since she does not have insurance that covers eye exams and such.

My question is, where can my friend possibly find a cheap place to get an eye exam and get glasses, frame and lenses altogether, here in Texas?

This actually an emergency so please help quickly!

What is the best colored contacts for dark eyes?

I have very dark eyes, almost black. I am looking for a colored contact that makes my eyes light. I have looked into Desio Lens and VIP lenses so far but I was wondering, what is the best contact and what is the best shade? I would like to see YOUR pictures before/after (not generic ones found on google images). I like green/blue the best on my eyes based off of other contacts I've tried. Clear crisp near vision but zero intermediate even for computer?

I got cataract surgery on both eyes, i'm really struggling with it especially progressive lenses i am only 26.
I am satisfied with my right eye, i see clear crisp vision for far and average intermediate. So i thought my left eye would see clear crisp image for near and average intermediate, i have only crisp clear image for near and zero intermediate. My left eye went from 20/70 to 20/100 within months, what could have caused this.For example i cannot change or use the computer with my left eye, i see nothing but with my right eye i can at least make out words though barely. I have the acryl soflens toric, i'm wondering if it moved off axis, but if it did move so far off axis then i shouldn't get such clear crisp near vision.

What would my contact lens prescription be? - 1

I took an eye exam this past week but wasn't thinking about a difference in glasses and contact prescription, nor did my eye doctor mention the possibility. I want to order a small amount of contacts just for occasional/special circumstances wear.
I don't want to get the wrong strength though by going on what my glasses prescription is and I don't want to go get another exam (money is tight and I have no insurance).
This is all the info that I have:
OD: Sphere(-3) Cylinder(-.25) Axis(005) Acuity(20)
OS: Sphere(-3) Cylinder(-.25) Axis(170) Acuity(20)

I have no idea what these numbers mean other than I wear a -3 strength, haha. I was hoping I could just get a -3 strength contact lens too but I want to make sure.

What is required to qualify for daily contacts, and do they cost more?

I've worn biweekly soft contact lenses for about 10+ years now. My favorite (and current) ones are AcuVue Advance Plus. They're more comfortable to me and do not dry out as badly as all of the other brands that I have tried. I'm a -6.00 with a BC of 8.7 DIA 14.0. The same in both eyes.

I started a new job about 5 months ago working in the Meat/Seafood rooms interchangeably at a supermarket chain. Because it is a good career and pays very well, I'm planning on retiring with the company about 30 years from now. I'm around a lot of bacteria. Our hoses in both departments spray 200 degree water mixed with this deli detergent stuff (which says "eye irritant" on it, among other things) and sanitizer in both areas. As part of the trade-off, anyone who is human will have a runny nose in the cold work environment. You might also build up a bit more Rheum (which most call "sleepy" - that sticky stuff in the corner of your eyes each morning) even during a normal work day. I find that a lot of times, I will get some of that or something else (such as a slash-up of detergent, etc.) "stuck" on my soft contact permanently. Soaking overnight in no-rub disinfectant and gently rubbing the contact in a circular direction in the palm of my hand will not remove it. Having switched old contacts out for a new pair when I had a spot on it like that, I discovered that I could not even scrape it off with a fingernail (since it didn't matter if I destroyed the old ones that I wouldn't use anymore anyway).

So I'm wondering if I would qualify for one-day soft contacts in my prescription strength so that I wouldn't have to worry about these cleaning issues with the contacts. How much more expensive are they?
Added (1). Also, would they be as thin and comfortable as the ones that I'm used to wearing?

How should I go about taking my contact lenses through airport security?

I'll be leaving on a study abroad trip to New Zealand in a couple days (so fast answers are appreciated!) and I was wondering what to do about my contact lenses. I wear one-day disposable lenses, so in order to last the several months I'll be gone, I intend to pack with me 4 boxes of 90 each (2 boxes per eye, as I have a different prescription for each).

Anyone who wears contact lenses knows that they come in these little packets that contain maybe a teaspoon of saline solution. And since that's a liquid, do I have to follow the liquid rules?

I've read somewhere that "non-essential" liquids can be packed in the checked luggage, which would be more convenient for me than to put all 4 boxes in my carry-on. But other places say that contacts should be in carry on. Some people say they need to be declared, and some people don't think they do. I've read that since they are considered a "medical liquid" then I don't have a limit on how many I bring so long as they deem it a "reasonable amount," which hopefully they will understand that so many contacts are "reasonable" considering how long I'll be gone.

Has anyone flown with a lot of contact lenses before? What should I do about packing them?

Eye surgery for Myopia?!

I have a question regarding eye surgery.

When someone suffers from myopia it means, most of the time, that the eye is stretched to a sphere like form, am I right?
Eye surgery changes the surface of the lens using lasers, right?

So what I was thinking, how reliable is this surgery, if after all, it's not the root of the problem which is being treated (the shape of the eye) but just the surface of it.
It's like putting makeup on acne to cover it instead of treating the cause for it…

Are there any attempts in medicine to change the shape of the eyeball?

I might be talking nonsense but that's just me…

Contact lenses appointment tomorrow?

I have an appointment for contact lenses tomorrow and I just wanted to know what the procedure will be. The opticians already have my eye prescription so will I be getting them straight away or will I have to wait? If so, how long? Is it hard to keep in contact lenses or do you not even realise they're there?

I'm just kind of worried since it's my first appointment for contacts:)

I also have insanely bad hayfever and it starts as soon as it gets warm out so around March/April and gets worse during the summer, my eyes go red and a pink plastic thing covers my eye which makes everything blurry so I can't see for a day or two. Everything seems bigger on wearing contact lenses?

So, I just switched to contacts from glasses and everything seems so big and weird and what depresses me the most is that when I look in the mirror my face seems bigger and stretched. But when I take a picture of myself then it's not that big and people say I look better off without glasses but I can't imagine how can they like the ugly face that I see when I look in the mirror.And I think contacts aren't showing the reality because when I don't wear anything on my eyes everything seems normal and equivalent to the size I see while wearing glasses.

So, glasses= naked eyes =/=lenses.

And a lot of people have experienced this.

I'm still wondering how will things seem when I undergo the LASIK surgery.

My eye prescription and difficulty getting lenses?

I got cataract surgery on both eyes, i'm struggling with progressives. Especially with computer and reading, it seems the only clarity i get is with distance with progressive glasses

I also had a question about focusing, it seems my left eye can only focus a very very short distance regardless of whether i put on single vision glasses or intermediate glasses. It seems my opthamologist doesn't understand. When i put on single vision in my left eye, i see 20/20 but i get "zero intermediate" while with my right eye i see 20/20 and even get moderate "near intermediate" and "far intermediate". Please can a specialist explain this to me? Is there a problem with the implant?

I had changes observed in my eyes?

I've been myopic since grade school. It's moderate grade and I've worn corrective lenses since then (my parents let me get contacts in 98 when I turned 13).

I am also hypertensive (medication controlled) & am quite aware that I need to have my prescription / general eye health examined yearly. A few months ago I had to do a physical for a new job. The PA there started out by saying since he'd never seen me as a patient, didn't know what was/was not previously present, and he was just a general practitioner - but…he said he thought I had some changes in my eyes. Something about these changes also happening with age but not usually at my age - he thought my hypertension might have something to do with it and said I should see an ophthalmologist instead of my usual optometrist. I saw an ophthalmologist about 2 years ago for a chalazion removal but I've not been able to make a return appointment just yet. Unrelated genetic testing revealed I have a very increased risk of developing macular degeneration.

I'm seeing my optometrist next week for my annual exam. Obviously, I will advise her of the situation but is it worth discussing with her as much as it's just keeping her abreast of the situation? If my hypertension is causing damage to my eyes is there anything either eye physician can do to repair or prevent the damage from progressing?

I'm now preparing for summer. Love summer! :D
I wanna get sunglasses and eyeglasses together because of my bad eye vision. But sunglasses is absolutely needed in the hot summer, and I don't want to change sunglasses and eyeglasses when I get in the house and go out. It's really a trouble. I don't wanna this.
Any way to get the sunglasses lenses changed into eyeglasses lenses when I'm in the house and dark places, because it's strange to wear sunglasses there. But it's really not cool to put off sunglasses and wear the eyeglasses instead. So please, will it be possible to not change the frames, just let the lenses changed to be accommodable for the dark light themselves?

I can't get an appointment until April with the opthamologist. But my eye muscles are getting really sore when reading (except when I'm outdoors, oddly). I have +6 contact lenses and I'm 39 years old. If I go to the store and buy readers to use over them my contact lenses, how strong should they be? Would there be a difference in their strength for computer use versus reading a book?

Does any have an idea what I'm experiencing?

I plan on seeing a doctor, but I want to know if anyone might have an idea of what I have. Here are my symptoms.
The back of my neck is in constant throbbing pain.
My vision darkens and slowly returns to normal. When I cover my right eye, the vision in my left is slightly dim. When I cover my left, the vision on my right has a strange little blur in it. It's clear, but there is a tiny squiggle. I took out a ruler and the lines don't look straight in this one particular spot.
I wear glasses. I thought my glasses was dirty and kept cleaning them. The blur won't go away. I switched to my contact lens. That's how I found out it was my eye and not the glasses or contact lens.

Blurred ring around vision when wearing coloured contacts?

so recently i got the freshlook coloured contacts in sterling grey, and i have a problem… That is when i put on the contacts i actually see the colour? Like i see a ring around my vision that is blurred. My vision is not blurred, just that it is somewhat blocked?

I recently used my HSA to purchase contact lenses. The admin at the optometrist's office provided me with a rebate worth $50 or about a quarter of the price of the lenses. Do I need to; a) declare the $50 as income, b) declare the $50 plus pay the additional penalty for an unqualified distribution from my HSA, c) simply reapply the $50 to back to my HSA retaining proof I did so, or d) enjoy the money without prejudice to taxes? A friend told me I must do either 'b' or 'c' but I can't find anything on the IRS web site supporting that…

Is having a speck of dust behind soft contact lenses a big problem?

I recently got contact (soft) contact lenses, and it's almost impossible for me to put them in without a tiny bit of dust. Is this very bad for your eyes? I don't really feel it.

Can I use my contact lens solution for more than a month?

I have never tried it before. Because now, I'm sort of on budget and wanted to safe some money for personal reasons. So can I use my contact lens solution for more than a month for my yearly lenses?

I can't remember the cartoon?

There was a cartoon I watched when I was younger in the mid to late 90s and the only thing I can remember from the show was that the characters would put on like glasses or a single lenses over there right eye and then they would be transported(mental to a digital world. The one episode I remember was there was an invisible creature destroying the town and one of the characters puts that device on and he can see a T-rex and the way he stops him is by slamming a large metal door on its head.

I want to say it was Johhny quest but I only see that show came out before the 90s bc i remember the show I'm talking about had high 3D type graphics.

So if anyone can help me figure the name of the show that would be very great and thanks:)

Are plastic contact lenses any good?

A friend of mine uses them and they keep cracking. Replacing them is expensive
