RGP Contact Lens Split into half. Could I be doing something wrong?

I wear RGP or Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses. The contacts are glass not plastic. I had this one since middle of May 2017. I'm gentle in caring and cleaning for the lens as I damaged one in the past. On Wednesday morning September 13,2017 I inserted the contact lens in my eye. I noticed right away it was bothering me quite a bit. I wore it about a hour and decided to remove it. Just to clean the contact lens and flush my eye out. I went to clean the contact lens and I noticed it was in half. I clean with Boston 2 in 1 and use contact lens saline solution. I follow the instructions. Could I have done anything wrong? Is it common for a contact lens to split in half ( 2 pieces_?

If I have pink eye should I go to school or stay home?

My eye started to get red about two days ago, I just passed it off as allergies and went about my day. I looked in the mirror a few minutes ago and it has got worse significantly. My eye is extremely red and is starting to feel uncomfortable. I wear contact lenses so I will not be wearing those tomorrow. I know pink eye is contageous, so should I go to school tomorrow? I have a test tomorrow and I have duel AP classes so it would be very hard for me to catch up after missing a day.

Best contact lenses for astigmatism and dry eyes?

Looking for comfortable, at least 12 hours or more wear. I have astigmatism on my right eye and recently got diagnosed with dry eyes so my doctor prescribed refresh eye drops with no preservatives. I have to use them daily. I rarely use my eye glasses because they feel so uncomfortable. My vision isn't as bad, O.D plano - 0.75 x 176, O.S. Plano 0.25 x 180. I'm not looking for colored contacts, just clear ones. It would be nice to try colored contacts, I'm just not so sure which brand can offers all these options for me. Please let me know! I'd greatly appreciate it!

Contacts are fine after first day, second day onwards they burn

I got contacts in Wednesday, optometrist opened a new set and put them in my eyes. Perfect. Next day, after soaking them in solution. Burn. Fades away after an hour. Next day. Burns so bad that tears are rolling down my cheeks and I have to take them out. Go back to doctor. New pair. Perfect. Next day, solution soaked, cleaned. Burns. I'm new to contacts and these are 2 weeks lenses to see if I want to buy them. So far I love them, besides the burning after the first day! Why is it burning? The second pair I've been meticulous with and having dropped them. Hands have been washed thoroughly and the lenses have been cleaned.

How bad is it to extend disposable contact lens life?

I'm using monthly disposable soft lenses. My ophthalmologist recommends replacing them every month. But I've regularly used one pair for 4 months, sometimes even 6 months. I've been doing this for last 14 years now. I don't wear them constantly- I use them for about 10 to 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, and rub+rinse+soak them in opti-free every night.

My ophthalmologist doesn't know I'm doing this. I go for routine checkups once every year, and he's never found a problem with my eyes.

Realistically, is it that important to replace contact lenses on a routine planned schedule? If I've not had a problem in 14 years, it doesn't seem like I'm significantly increasing the risk of eye diseases by not following the replacement schedule. Perhaps I will get an infection some time in the future, but then every contact lens user will probably get one infection after 14+ years using them.
