Why is my wife trying to make me look older? And how can I put my foot down against that?

We have been married for 3 years and are having a baby in 4 months. We are in our early 30s.

This is about the age when one starts to develop fine lines. I have managed to keep those at bay with the liberal use of sunblock when going outdoors for any length of time, and with healthy eating. I am also getting close to the age at which my metabolism is likely to start slowing down. This is not a problem for those who exercise regularly, and eat healthy, which I do. Lastly, I started going bald about 5 years ago, but I have kept it at bay with the regular use of rogaine. I have not started going grey yet, but when I do, I have every intention to cover that up.

I like looking young. I have always looked younger than my age. I am frequently mistaken for being in my mid-late 20s. I like it that way, and I hope to grow, not shrink, the gap between my actual age and the age I look like.

In order to save money for when the baby arrives, my wife has made the following requests:
- stop using rogaine
- give up my gym membership
- buy clothes at cheaper places, as opposed to fashionable clothing
- use less sunscreen
- stop using my prescription acne medication
- stop using contact lenses, and just use the (free) glasses that the Air Force gives me.

The only one I conceded on was the clothing one. Next time I go shopping, I will go to the outlets to see if I can get good quality clothing for less. If I can't find them there, I will look for non-name-brand clothing that still looks and feels good.

Reducing the use of sunscreen is a retarded idea. It is very important to latherup when going outdoors, especially here in Colorado where sunshine is abundant, and where we are closer to the sun. Giving up my gym membership is also dumb. I have a right to be in shape, and while you CAN stay in shape without a gym, it is much easier WITH a gym.

As for the glasses, the ones that the Air Force gives you are officially called GI glasses, but are nicknamed birth control (BC) glasses, because they are not flattering. I'm not going to be out picking up women or anything, but I have a right to look good. I have met her halfway on this one though. I agreed to not get a new pair of civilian glasses and just use my GI glasses as a backup to my contacts.

If I stop using rogaine, I will lose my hair. That will make me look older, and I don't really want that. That will really make my self confidence go down. If I quit using my acne medication, I will get acne. That doesn't look good.

I think my wife is doing this to make me look ugly, so that she basically has me by the balls. She is trying to prevent me from ever leaving her, so that way even if I would file for divorce otherwise, I will be reluctant to do that since I am now balding, have acne, am less in shape, and wear ugly glasses. She is being extremely selfish. Is this why she is trying to control my life?
Added (1). eve, you sound homophobic. No, I'm not gay. All straight men like to look good. Don't tell me what I should or should not care about. And obviously I CAN stop balding, because the rogaine is WORKING. I even regrew some hair, and now I have the same amount of hair I did when I was 20.

And Sue, yes, the acne SHOULD have stopped, but it hasn't. Many men continue to struggle with acne throughout adulthood, it is actually quite common. And no, wanting to look good isn't a crime so you'd better stop making it sound like it is.
Added (2). Kurt, if you think I'm gay, then good for you. Most straight guys DO care about their looks. Perhaps you are ugly and don't care, but I do. I take pride in my looks. And I highly doubt you would last in the Air Force. You're probably just some fat, beer drinking, donut-eating couch potato who will die of a heart attack at age 50.

To those of you who are concerned about money…there will be money for baby supplies. If I were concerned about that, I would try and make more sacrificies. The fact that I am NOT willing to make sacrifices should have told you that they are NOT necessary.

HELP GETTING CONTACT LENSES IN?!

Hi well basically I have my contact lenses appointment tomorrow and i am really nervous and scared. Last year my appointment went dreadfully as I just couldn't get the lens in and control my blink reflex my eyes would just automatically close! I'm nervous that it's going to be the same this year because I have tried to practise at home by touching my eyes but it just won't happen! Someone please help me! Thank you

Does anyone else have issues with Acuvue Oasis contacts?

Whenever I put my contacts in, within the first 30 minutes to 5 hours, one will slide out of place. It used to be just my right eye with the old brand I used, but now it's only with my left eye that it slides. This happens nearly everyday, and not only is it annoying because I can't do anything about it, but it also impairs my driving, as well as distracts me at school and work.

Has anyone else had this issue? Do you recommend any other brands?

How to know the right kind of colored contacts for my eyes?

so i bought colored lenses before like a month. I put in on but it was blurry and it wouldent fit. It was freshlook. How can i know what kind of colored contacts should i buy that would fit? I have glasses but i cant see only distance. So i dont wear glasses all the time. Should i go to my eye doctor and check it or can i know alone?

Sorry for the long paragraph, poured out my feeling here >< and try to add as much detail as i cn.

i know this guy working as a clerk, and i was working as an clerk's assistant. I only had a normal "just-a-colleague" feeling toward him during the first day of work (dont even know he exist until the staff there told him to teach me) . It was awkward initially, especially after he told me about admin stuff he kept eye contact at me while talking and after talking which become awkward silence (because i have nothing to ask, and i was expecting him to look away and continue on…). But he just looked and until i leave the eye contact moment and started to look at admin stuff, he nod and said "yeah…"

it was at this point i began to wonder if he liked me or not, i have nvr seen guys looking straight in my eyes during that awkward silence. But then after a few times of interacting with him, i realised he was a shy n quiet guy, he rarely speak alot with his friends/ colleagues. I talked to him during work and break, so often, after i asked him question, he spoke a few sentences and gone quiet again, and realised i could not continue the convo. (awkward silence again). Then we looked at each other and smiled shyly.

ironically, i realised i was attracted to him after knowing him just 5 days in work, he was a nice, humble, friendly guy (sometimes obedient, does not sabotage colleague, really honest). Sometimes during lunch break, when i was not talking while his friends/ colleagues are talking to each other, i shifted my eyes between the two of them and then i shifted my eye contact to him, i realised his eyes met mine. I was pretty shy so i instantly looked away from it. I dun know how to describe how he looked, it was like his eyes were alr fixed there when i started to look at him (he still didnt say anything)… Gradually, i started to tease and joke him because sometimes he really is clumsy in doing thing. And when he did something good, i praised him and he would laugh lightly and said "nah this is too much for me" then thanked me again (all the time). It was really fun to play with him (he is so humble and his response is funny). But when work-related is over, it becomes awkward again. Not only that, i started to like his fat fingers and the way he typed words (it was really cute). Sometimes i really wonder if i have liked him and vice versa or im just overthinking. Since im working in an army office (there is no girls in that office), I do not know how he speak with the other girls. He dun really share much of his life to me when i asked or when i shared mine.

Whenever I go like if there is a talk to attend, at the end of talk,he will walk back and walk with me as i walked with the crowd, even when he walked the other way initially. Not sure if he just accompany me/ the staff told him to take care of me since im new? I thought he would just go straight back to the office and meet me up thr.

at one point of times, when his colleagues were busy, just the two of us went to lunch break, and was really awkward (i do not know if i shld sit besides him or opposite) then there were some colleagues walked past him teased or something like that. And his face was like "no you are mistaken" and he looked at me, not sure how to answer to me. (i told him it was alright). Our eyes looked away from each other when we were eating quietly

At times i felt he treated me nicely because i was a newcomer. And it was just only a colleagues feeling.

im not pretty looking, do not really have that much feminine features. (i look like a guy when i cut my hair:( ) the only nice features i have is my lip and forehead, and prob my face-shape…
i don put make up, fail at wearing contact lens. Sometimes i dun understand y some guys asked me to be his gf… Or like me… I often wear t-shirt and jean, always with my study mode on.

sometimes i think it was foolish of me to thought of all these.

How strange is that i would get attract by him with just working 5 days with him, btw, i was surprised he was 2 yrs younger than me

I hope someone can tell me if all these are just his shyness and being nice or he is interested in me…

Why can't I see clearly with my contact lenses on?

I'm 20 years old guy having myopia for 8-10 years. I had been wearing glasses for long but now when i switched to contacts few days back, my vision for far objects in contacts isn't as clear as in glasses. Is it because i just switched to contacts? Does it take some time to get use to contacts or my prescription of contacts is wrong?

Red eyes when wearing contacts?

I wear contacts to school everyday. My eyes are always getting red when I wear them. My eyes always get red when I wear contacts, even when I wore the Air Optix lenses in the past. I take out my contacts every night, wash and soak them with fresh solution too. I always use eye drops meant for contact lenses whenever my eyes feel dry or scratchy. I've tried to stop wearing them for a few days to see if the situation would improve but once I put them on again, my eyes would turn red. Currently the contacts I'm wearing right now is of the correct fit, it's silicon hydrogel ( I don't overwear them they can be worn up to 16 hours according to the optometrist but I normally spend 12 hours in school ) Is there any reason why my eyes are like that? Ps: the contact lense solution I'm using right now was recommended by the optometrist so I don't think the problem is caused by that. Thank you:)

I am very cautious in handling my lenses…i wash my hand, clean lens cases everyday and soak the lenses overnight…and although my solution claim that no need to rub the lenses…i rub the lenses 1 or 2 times per week…

When i wear my eyeglasses in the corners of eyes i see the image warping?

i bought my first eyeglasses three days ago from online shop(quite expenive) (cause i dont want the trouble of shopping and ect) and when i wear em in the very cornert of my eyes i see the imagle like warping,did this depend the PD of the lens or its normal?

i dont get dizzy or something just my eyes gets tired after 1 hour

I can see better with glasses than contacts?

When I wear my glasses my vision is like super clear, but I prefer wearing contact lenses which I believe are the same prescription as my glasses, or they might even be slightly stronger. However, I've noticed that lately things are slightly blurred in the distance with my contacts (still much better than my regular vision) but noticeably less clear than with my glasses. At first I thought my vision was changing because I didn't really notice this at first, it's only recently that I've begun to notice this. Is it because I am developing more astigmatism? Is there a big difference between negative 2.50 and negative 3.0 in eyesight prescription?

My contact lenses are presribed -2.5 for both eyes.
But my optomitrist said my right eye is a little bit worse than my left eye, so at one point, he gave me a stronger lens for just my right eye (I didn't check whether it was -3.0 or something else).
But now he prescribed my right eye back to -2.5, saying I should be fine in -2.5

going from -2.5 to -3.0, I couldn't tell much whether there was a change or not.
but is there supposed to be a significant difference between -2.50 and -3.0?

Does toric lenses come in plus speherical power?

Basiically my eye prescription is
Right eye = Cylindrical -1.5
Spherical +0.5
Left eye = Cylindrical -2.0
(no spherical)

so my vision is not as much clear as my glasess because my optician told me that toric lenses dont came in plus power and my lenses only have minus power.

So this is my first time wearing contacts and ordering them. I didn't ask my doctor to order them for me because I'm moving back to my old home and won't be able to pick them up and I live in the middle of the desert and won't find a place nearby where they can order my contacts for me. I lost a trial contact lens?

I was putting my contacts in and later realized my left one wasn't in my eye. I searched everywhere and everything and even did the flashlight method. I never could find it. I guess it fell out after I blinked cause I may have not put it in right. I was sure that it was in my eye.

These are my first time with contacts and they are very flimsy (that's understandable right?) and they are trial lenses, so will it cost when I go back to the clinic and buy a new pair? I am also getting a pair of glasses to go with them so if this happens again, I will have a backup.

Opinions on americas best for contacts?

So Im debating on if I should even go to Americas Best for a contact lens exam/fitting.
Ive read so many reviews about people going there for the 2 frames for $79 deal, and leaving with a bill thats way more then $79. So now that I know that has happened to MANY people getting glasses, I need to know if Americas Best is going to do the same thing to me if I go there for contacts.
Should I call them before I go in for my appointment and tell them Im bringing what Ive been quoted numerous times over the phone, or should I just find somewhere else that isnt going to charge me more then they told me?

I am hoping to ship off to OCS later this year. I'm told that you can't wear contact lenses or even your own specs at OCS. Is this true? If so…

I'm thinking of abandoning contacts altogether, they are too much of a pain. If the GI glasses are free, and I have to get them anyway, I figure what's the point in spending money on my own civilian pair?

Throbbing cartilage! Why has this started?!

I got my Cartilage pierced twice (very close together) on the 17th Feb with a needle. The piercing was almost pain free to have done and caused me no problems sleeping or washing my hair until the day before yesterday I knocked my ear on the sofa as I turned to talk, it was SO painful! It was the first time its ever caused me pain. It still hurts so so much its like a really hard throbbing sensation, the ear itself is bright red and definitely swollen (no puss or bleeding) its making my head and neck throb too! Since I had it pierced I have been cleaning it twice a day with saline solution (the one I use with my contact lenses) I've not twisted it touched it at all or got it wet or dirty. There is no heat coming from the piercing, I'm pretty sure its not infected I just want to know why its started hurting and when it will stop?! Please help me:)

What color contact brand for astigmatism can I buy?

I know freshlook ColorBlends toric are great but the bad thing is that for astigmatism it's strongest is -4.00. My eyes are -5.00 -0.75x180 and -4.00 -1.75x170. Sadly my left eye ruined everything by being a number stronger haha. I'd be a bit blind in one eye. Which would worsen my eye sight. I'm looking for cheap color lenses that can reach my numbers. Has anyone used ortho-k contact lenses before?

So I've been using them for a little over 2 weeks. I started out and it was fine but then a week into it, my mom noticed that the skin around the outside of my eyes have become a bit red, but not too noticable. Also that part is very itchy in the mornings and it doesn't really water but like a little bit of water comes out the side of my eyes but it's not too noticeable. I'm just wondering, should I continues wearing the contacts? I sleep with them at night and take them out during the day and it works! But I'm scared, do I have an infection or something? Also, I've stopped using them and the redness seems to go away a little, but could it be my makeup causing the redness? Even though I've never had any problems with makeup. Has anyone used ortho-k? Can anyone tell me about it?
And, my vision hasn't reached 20/20 yet. And it's been 2 weeks! Is it because I stopped for a while and then restarted? I only stopped for 3 nights. Please hlep!

My eyes hurt (lost my contact lense)?

here's the story. 3-4 days ago we were at a party and almost everybody was drunk. I wasn't, i just drunk a little more than other days but i was ok in general. I was wearing my contact lenses ( it;s been only 2 months since i got to wear contact lenses and everything was ok) … A drunk hit me by accident and a few minutes later i realized i wasn't wearing the right contact lense anymore. Instead of checking it out nice and calm, i just started to rub my right eye trying to see if the contact lense was lost in it. Yeah i am a foul, since i just got my right eye irritated a lot after that. I got home after an hour and took the other contact out. Never found the right one so i slept. After that i only wear glasses but my right eye feels itchy and hurts. Not much but i feel irritated. It's not red, it isn't swelled, it looks normal and i can see fine with my glasses. It just hurts a little. And my left eye too. Not so much but it does. My optician said that it hurts from the punch of that guy. I went to the pharmacy and they said that the contact lense might be stacked in my eye or i might have infection. What do you think?

Can optometrist give you the wrong prescription?

Ok So I went in for a contact lens exam this is first time me wearing contacts. So my right eye is crispy clear and the prescription is fine but my left eye is extremely blurry like I cannot see anything out of that eye at all if I cover my right. I told the optician that my left eye is extremely blurry and she said to test the contacts in for a week. I told her that will be impossible since the contact is pretty much making me blind from the left eye and I cannot do work or drive with a completely blurry left eye. She refused to listen to me and told me to just test them for a week and to call back in a week. I know for a fact that the script is wrong from my left eye but she just wont listen to me. That could have ben something the doctor could have fixed immediately but instead they are making me wait a week and to stick a bad to powerful contact in my left eye for an entire week that can't be right. She says is problably the brand but I seriously doubt it since my right eye is completely fine. What can I do?

Okay so i got contact lenses today. Before going to the optician, i just saw some tutorials on youtube but couldn't wear them at the optician. I think I look good in the mirror, but if if I take a pic of myself, I don't?

So yeah, I see myself in the mirror as a good looking guy, but if I take a picture of myself, it seems like flipping my face to how everyone else sees it (cause I only see it in the mirror) makes me look a lot worse. I don't know, is it something with how my eyes see things? Has anyone else had this? For the most part I think I look good when I see myself in other pictures, but those are usually more zoomed out than the ones I've taken of myself. Is it the lens on my phone? Or do I just see myself better in the mirror than I really look? I'm not saying I look a tiny bit worse in the pics, like it's a big difference. If give myself a solid 8 when I look in the mirror, but drop it to a 6 in the pics. Are doctors allowed to give you a receipt for zero dollars after an appointment and then charge you?

I went to the eye doctor, after having them check with my insurance to make sure everything would be covered. They told me my exam would be covered and i would have 100 dollars towards glasses. I payed 20 dollars extra for my glasses lenses. They handed me a receipt after my exam showing me how everything was charged and letting me know my balance was zero. Then four weeks later I receive a bill telling me my insurance did not cover the exam and I owe $85.are they allowed to charge me for something they told me, and assured me would be covered?
Added (1). They are telling me I have to pay for it.
Added (2). I understand that there is a reason behind why i have a left over 85 dollars. My exam cost 145 dollars and only part of my exam was covered…but it just irritates me that every person i talk to from my insurance and from the eye doctors office is telling me i have no choice i have to pay this money, when i was told before i even went into the doctor, and then when i came out i was handed a receipt saying i owe nothing. This has happened to me before when i had my wisdom teeth pulled. This sort of thing doesn't seem like it is legal, or else i really do not know what i am doing when i call ahead to some place and check the prices, check how much my insurance will cover. If this is legal, what am i doing wrong when checking to make sure my insurance covers everything before i go in? I feel like the medical field is taking advantage of me, even if this **** is legal, it's not okay.

How come rain always gets on the INSIDE of my glasses?

The space between the lens of my glasses and my face/eyes is so narrow and I'm confused because most of the raindrops that lands on my glasses is on the inside. Am I the only one who this happens to? Am I the only one to be frustrated by this? Is this for any reason or is it a coincidence that it happens every time it rains?

Could RGP lenses survive a drop inside their case?

I dropped my contact lens case on the pavement with my new RGP lenses inside; each lens was coated in solution drops. It usually takes a few days for me to acclimate to a new set of lenses. Do you think I should avoid the three day wait and order a new pair or are they resilient enough to survive such a fall?

Colored Contact Brand Suggestion with Asitgmatism?

Hi I was wondering if there are brands that provide colored contacts (possibly grey or blue) for people with asitgmatism?
My vision in the right eye is -4.75 and for my left its -4 [this is for contact lens].

I found Freshlook Toric Colorblend, but the max power they had was -4! :(

I'm trying to find other brands, please let me know of any suggestions!

How can people deal with having a dog?

I'm still in school, and I at home with my parents, and we have a dog. I don't dislike the dog personally and I don't treat him badly, but I don't get how anyone can stand owning a dog?

He licks the walls so they look awful, he scratches all the floors with his claws so they are totally ruined, he ruined the whole staircase and a window next to it now has scratch marks and drool all over it. When he eats he slabs all over the floors and he takes dust, mud and water inside the house. His fur is found everywhere, even inside of my Contact lens cases. He can open the front door by himself, and it's scratched so much that all the paint has been scratched off completely.

Our house looks like total ****, mostly because of him, and because my parents don't really care. I clean every day and I scrub the floors hardcore, but I can't put up new wallpaper every day. Even when I have cleaned the whole house from top to bottom, one hour later it looks like ****.

My dad lets the dog sit next to our dining table and he feeds him from the table (WTF?) so he drools there every day and they don't remove his drool, so the floors become water damaged. The dog is slightly overweight because my dad overfeeds him everyday even though I tell him not to, but he tells me to shut the f**k up, then he yells at me for "not caring enough for the dog".

Are you a dog owner? How can you handle all this? I get upset and I feel extremely bad when the house is so ugly. Do I have to put up with this until I move out?

Been Wearing Same Contacts for over Three Month?

I use Air Optix Aqua and got tired of throwing away these perfectly good contacts every month. So i prolonged it and now well over 3 months with the same contacts. I clean them every night and day, and I have no problems with them. No dryness or nothing. Should I go on. By the way there One Month Wear Contacts.

If you have astigmatism do you have to order contact lenses made especially for astigmatism?

For example, do you have to buy Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism or Acuvue Oaysis for Astigmatism, or can you get away with getting regular lenses like Acuvue 2, CooperVision Proclear, Bausch and Lomb PureVision? Also, what are some good contact lens brands that you guys recommend?

As of now, I am using RGP contact lenses but I am tired of them and want to try something new.

Contact Lenses (Positive & Negative Powers for Coloured Circle Lenses)?

I need lenses and i have astigmatism
I believe I have mild astigmatism so I think I'm okay with regular contacts
My perscription is
OD = -2.50
CYL = -0.5
AXIS = 016

OS = +2.50
CYL = -3.25
AXIS = 025

I want coloured lenses or circle lenses but they only come in negative powers… I read somewhere that some people just order plano for their positive perscriptions because they're more concerned about seeing things from a distance.

I would say I wouldn't mind ordering plano for my left eye but it safe or a bad idea?

How to get rid of terrible acne?

I can't buy anything right now because my mom is saving for my contact lenses. My acne shows really bad without glasses on. Its right under my eyes in between my eyebrows on the top of my forehead. And i have like 2 on my chin under my lip. It's terrible! I have some cleansing pads but they haven't been doing so well. I just tried toothpaste like people been saying. IDK if that will work but my luck it wont. :( Please help me D: I also cut down on the bad meals.

My eye doc gave me two different prescriptions w/ different brands for contacts?

I'm a first time contact user and my doc originally gave me a prescription for the Acuvue Oasys. Well, I told him I wanted to try the Freshlooks ones as well, so he wrote me another separate prescription for those. Now I technically have two prescriptions. I just ordered the Acuvue ones, but I still want to get the others as well. Am I allowed to use both prescriptions? Thanks!
Added (1). Also, when the website I order them from contacts my eye doc to verify, will the doc's office approve both?

What kind of airsoft lens should i get?

i want a pane that i can be able to use in darker airsoft games but, i want it also to make my eyes less white, which makes it less noticable. Being able to see in the dark is more important than darkening my eyes so could i get suggestions on weather i should get tinted yellow, black, grey, or clear lens?

Homestuck Troll [Eridan Ampora] Cosplay Help?

I'm going to be cosplaying as Eridan Ampora from Homestuck, and I need to know a few things. By the way, this is my first time cosplaying as a troll from Homestuck.

- The Wig

- I was thinking about going to a wig store and buying an Elvis-like wig, but styling it a little bit, and adding some colored streaks of purple. But if that doesn't really work, does anyone know where I can get a decent wig to match Eridan's hair?

- The Outift

- There are probably some online sites where I can buy his long sleeved shirt, but I'm at a loss as to where I can get his cape, his scarf, his pants and his shoes. His rings, I think, have got to be the hardest to replicate. Or, can anyone help me find a way to make his cape and the rest of his outfit?

- The Makeup

- The makeup, to me at least, seems really easy, seeing as Eridan only has his face and his hands showing. But the teeth, nails, and sea dweller ears I kinda know how to do. But help will be greatly appreciated.

- The Eyes

- Since he has purple and yellow eyes, I am at a complete loss as to where to get his eyes. I originally thought of getting purple contacts, and calling it a day. But, I wanna be as much like Eridan as possible. Is there any way for me to get my slceras yellow without any contacts that won't like, permanently damage my eyes?

- The Glasses

- Eridan wears those hipster glasses. Unfortunately, I, too, wear glasses. Does anyone know where I can get some glasses to be like Eridan's, but in a prescription? I might need those, if not that, then I can get the frames with plastic lenses, and just get the purple contacts, assuming they have my prescription.

That is alot to do for Eridan…I'm sorry for such a long post, but I wanna get my Eridan costume done as fast as possible. I really wanna start to cosplay as Homestuck characters. Thank you all for helping me. It will be greatly appreciated! :D
