Swimming in contact lenses? - 1

there's a bunch of stuff online advertising the dangers of swimming in contacts. Like bacteria lives from the water lives in your lenses and burrows into your eyeball…
well, i've swam in contacts for years, and i still have vision. Mine are monthlies, and i wear goggles but sometimes get water in them. I soak them overnight, but i don't take them out right away or throw them out. What do you all think of this?
Added (1). also sometimes when i splash more water than usual gets in my eyes. I have considered taking them out when i can… Don't want to bring my glasses to the beach like a ten year old.

I am a hyperope but distant vision is blurry?

I've always thought I am myopic but discovered after an eye exam that i have a power of +0.50 for distance. Wearing the corrective lens of +0.50 OU helped my eyestrain but i find it a bit blurry compared to not wearing my spectacles. But without spectacles i get eyestrain easily.

my opto told me that i have a early onset of presbyopia. My rx is +0.50 OU distance and +0.75OU near
no astigmatism, cataract or glaucoma or other eye diseases
blood pressure n blood sugar within normal

complaints: eyestrain when reading after 10mins, looking at people at close distance, photophobic and motion sickness ( riding a car, in crowded places where there are alot of people moving, looking at children running around)

I am a 38y.o. Female

How to assertively maintain boundaries?

I often find that people I do not know are inappropriately personal with me… I often feel like I have had a personal boundary violated in these instances

Eg. I wear coloured lenses that look completely natural. Also because of the fact that I have olive skin my light eyes look even more unusual.

So when I am at the supermarket or the store asking the sales assistant where the milk is for eg I find it really inappropriate when they say 'is that your natural eye colour'

If it was my friend or a workmate I can understand why they would ask but it's really annoying when it is a randomness stranger.
It is always sales assistants that I take offence to eg one also said to me 'You look so tired ' and smirked

I find it really inappropriate for them to talk about me personally

I don't know how to react assertively in these situations and what to say?

It better still how to stop them from saying it to me in the first place.

Not wearing my glasses?

I'm spending a long weekend with a friend and I don't want to wear my glasses the whole time, but I don't have contact lenses. I am still going to take them just not wear them. Will that put too much strain on my eyes and any ideas on how I could see a little better without having to wear them? We are also going to the beach so I definitely don't want to wear them then. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Halloween contact lenses? Good brand?

I've no experience with contacts, so idk what's a great brand out there, esp. For Halloween special fx contacts~

what's a really good brand of halloween sfx contact lenses of great quality (not so thin that you can see your eye behind the effect lenses, nothing irritable, won't fall off, etc)?

also, is ACLens a cheap brand or do they have pretty good quality lenses? Cuz I've been looking at their products for a possible purchase.

thank you~

Can I wear my glasses in the classroom?

I have glasses with dark lenses and I don't mean transition lenses ( dark outdoors, transparent indoors ) , I'm talking about lenses that are DARK indoors & outdoors too. I'm in my first year of college, will my professors allow me to wear them? Won't they think that they are sunglasses? Will they put me to show evidence that I have to wear them?

Thanks!

Well every night I would empty my case of the old contact solution and rinse my case with water then put new solution and soak my contacts for the night. I've been doing it for a week… Are my trial contacts ruined?! Im scared now:( My follow up appointment is this Friday.

I'm so in love with someone that I want to be them?

For the last 4/5 years I've been so ridiculously in love with Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides, to the point where I've spent considerable amounts of money on trying to look like him, I buy clothes like his, cut my hair like his, do my makeup like his, and even wear contact lenses to make my eyes the same colour as his.
I don't know if I'm the only person who feels like this as everyone I've explained it to just thinks I'm weird, has anyone else experienced something like this?
Also, I'm not just in love with him because I think he's attractive, it's everything about him, the way he talks, the way he acts, how he feels about music, how loving he is towards his fans, as well as the things that he supports and believes in.
By the way I'm 18 so I'm not just some little girl who's going through a phase.
Basically what I'm asking is: has this ever happened to you and to what extent? How did you get over it? And how did you explain it to other people?
Any help would be great,
Unless you're gonna post some smart-*** comment that no one cares about.
Just serious answers please.
Thanks <3

What brand colored contact lenses are the most comfortable with a wide variety?

I'm 12 and in the 7th grade. I want to have different colored eyes, mine are brown and kinda boring. I do want something that's obviously fake and really bright, maybe a sapphire blue? I still have yet to ask my mom and go somewhere to see about them, but I'm seriously considering.

Should I get the reading glasses?

So I've always wanted glasses. They just appeal to me. I have good eyesight and don't need them, however. I was browsing through the store today and found these really nice pair of reading glasses for a great price and the magnification was 1.0. If I do get them and start to use them for reading/studying, will it make my eyes weaker over time? Also, I am 21 years old. Thank you.

Does wearing contact lenses slows down reading speed?

I've been a user of contact lenses for almost 6 years now. I'm in law school and my work requires me to read alot, so I was wondering whether wearing contacts can cause problems while I'm reading or doing close-up work. I can definitely say that I was doing much better in school when I didn't use to wear contacts, that was before I joined law school. Can anyone tell me why I am having problem in reading and concentrating even after removing contacts?

Can't see clearly with contact lens?

Hi, I just spent all my savings to get a pair of soft toric contact lens,a week ago.I've got myopic astigmatism in both eyes(1 Dioptre and 1 cylinder). The initial days gave me watery eyes and my vision got foggy after a few hours of wearing contacts( I could also see bright rainbows around all bright objects). It got alright after 4 days but now my vision seems to have degraded horribly. I can't even see things at even close proximity (50 mtrs) which I could when I wore glasses.Speaking of which, My glasses don't seem to work neither.I'm afraid the refractive error on my eyes just got worse. So here's the question. I don't have money to spend on contacts with new prescriptions. My optometrist had given me yearly lenses and is it possible to change the power on those lenses to suit my new requirements? And if you should know.I've even started doing some eye exercises hoping to revert my eyes at least to the state they were when I got the contacts.

Having problem with my circle lens i dont know whats wrong?

FIRST if you are gonna come here to tell me stop wearing them just cause you think contacts are bad in general please dont even bother! I just want my question answered
So I have worn circle lens several times and I always got them in easily and felt comfortable. I know how to clean them properly and occasionally change their solution water.
As of right now I have two pairs of circle lens and the first pair I've had I always worn well with no problem. But the last time I tried to put them on for some reason it gave me a HORRIBLE stinging burn that I just took them off immediately to rinse out my eye. I ended up getting red eye on my right one and the vision blurred a little bit. But my eye went back to normal by the third day. I did manage to put on the circle lens in the end and as always theyfelt comfortable but it left my right eye red for a while
So now i just received some new pairs of circle lens and I disinfected them thoroughly and added new solution to their case. But when i was finally gonna try them out the same thing happened again. I completely failed to get them on cause it gave me the same horrible burn. This time it turned my left eye red. As of today my eye is going back to normal again. So my eye is doing fine. The circle lens are comfortable when i get them on but i cant help bit feel its probably the solution maybe. I read that its not always good to keep on using the same brand for a long time and i use CLEAR CARE solution. What could I be doing wrong?

Why are my new contact lenses blurry?

I have been wearing the same brand of contacts for 5 years now. I recently got my eyes checked and tried out a new brand of contacts that supplies more air to the eyes.

My old contacts prescription: R: -2.75 and L: -3.50. New contacts prescription: R: -2.75 and L: -3.25.

They originally let me try -2.75/-3.50 (the old prescription degrees) for the new brand, but it was unclear. So then they gave me a second trial of contacts of -2.75/-3.25 (they thought the left eye's contacts might have been too strong). This second trial still isn't the clearest. The blurriness is most noticeable when I read things that are close range, from 1ft to 5ft away. Additionally, at night time, the street lights are a bit blurry compared to before.

Can someone tell me what is going on?

Can I wear Sclera lenses in public? Like on a daily use level?

Don't tell me that it would look creepy, because I am odd and I like odd things. But is there like, a rule or law for wearing them in public? Do they count as a mask that hides your face? Or are any contacts just contacts? The ones I have are good for wearing on a daily usage. I can wear them all day, like normal contacts, and I only have to replace them every year.

Can astigmatism be corrected or treated in adults?

I was born mostly blind in my left eye due to astigmatism. From the time I was 2 until I was 14 I wore corrective lenses and eye patches. A pattern was used wherein my good eye was patched for a month to strengthen the bad eye and then my bad eye was patched for a month of rest. At age 14, the ophthalmologist said that my eyes had matured to a point where they could no longer make any corrections and that I would need reading glasses as an adult.
At age 31, I do have reading glasses that only seem to help when I am tired… I rely almost solely on my good eye which has 20/20 vision. My bad eye has 60/20 vision; basically everything is blurry and I have no depth perception in that eye. My optometrist says that there is very little astigmatism and that I am merely a little farsighted.
I have to wonder though - has science advanced enough in 16 years that my "bad eye" could be made better? Perhaps I should seek the advice of an ophthalmologist just to be sure?

Will reading glasses mess up my vision?

ok so i need reading glasses just for school ya know… And so i have 4 classes a day and my glasses are about 90 minutes each. So i needed 1.25 reading glasses but they didn't have the type of glasses i wanted in that eye range. So i got 1.50 and I'm just wondering if i wore those for school for each class if it would mess up my eye vision and if i need to get 1.25 for sure. It would be really helpful if someone would help me out. Thanks:)

I'm scared to put in contact lenses?!

My dance teacher is having us do a creepy contemporary dance this year and she wants us to use contacts to make our eyes big and red. But I'm terrified of putting anything near my eye. I've been that way since I was 4 years old. I still can't even do my own eyeliner at competitions, because I'm so scared it's gonna go in my eye. And now I actually have to PUT SOMETHING in my eye! I'm terrified! Should I try to do it myself, or should I get one of my friends to do it for me? Be honest--what is it really going to be like? Will it hurt? How can I get myself to hold still when putting them in?

Should I wear my contact lenses again or should I go and buy a new pair?

Hello, last night I didn't have my solution with me so I put my contact lenses in its container without solution. 19 hours passed and now I put it in its container with its solution. Tomorrow morning can I use it again? Or is it too dangerous? How can I understand if it is damaged or infected? If its infected will I go blind? Or how can I understand if its infected and I wear it and my eyes get infected? I know this is a lot of questions but since I am paranoid about my eyes I worry about it too much. So I would be really happy if you answer my questions.
