Can I wear circle lenses if I have astigmatism? - 1

Is it safe for me to wear plano circle lenses if I have astigmatism? Im not trying to correct my vision because I can just wear my glasses over them. I've heard of toric lenses but those are really pricey.
This is my prescription if it helps at all.
OD: Sphere: -2.50
Cylinder: -1.00
Axis: 178

OS: Sphere: -1.25
Cylinder: -0.75

thank you!

Are my glasses irritating my eyes?

I've worn glasses for like 7 years, and recently they have been causing me problems. My glasses make a glare on everything, glossy text book paper to computer screens, the glare gives me a headache and makes it hard to read. It also causes my words to blend together and I am not dyslexic. I'm due for a eye appointment soon as it is, so it my glasses that can be doing this, or my actual eyes? If I got a new pair of glasses and lens, would this improve or is it the glass? Thanks!

How often is too often to apply eye drops?

I just recently got contacts for the first time in my 20 years or so wearing corrective lenses. I am applying eye drops every 30 minutes or less. Its really only one eye that's drying out, not both. My eye isn't itching. I can see the milky haze of my contact drying out. My optometrist says I may not be able to wear contacts. Is this true or should I go pay another $150 for a second opinion? I'm a little strapped on money here.

I think i have a contact lens stuck in my eye?

About an hour ago I closed my eyes to yawn for a second and then felt my (soft lens) contact move in my right eye. When I opened them my eye sight in that eye was immediately blurry. So I knew it had moved. About a year ago the same thing happened to me. This time I didn't have contact solution with me and it was about 15 minutes until I could get my hands on some. I squirted it and blinked and moved my eye to where I thought the discomfort was trying to find the lens but couldn't find it. My eye doesn't feel as bad now so I'm wondering if it could have fallen out without me noticing? When it was in there was real noticeable discomfort now its only minor like if you rubbed your eyes too much but I never did locate the lens.

Cataracts surgery led to partial blindness as infant - is there a specific name for this condition?

I had cataracts as an infant, it wasn't discovered until I was 2 years old. From my understanding: The cataract lens was removed. The cushion that the lens sits on in my eye didn't heal and a second surgery was needed. Because the cushion was removed it prevented me from getting a lens replacement. The result is that I'm partially blind in that eye (I can see vague shapes and colors, but nothing in detail).

Is there a specific condition this is called? Thank you!

How long can contact lenses be left?

So I got some colored contacts. They're mainly for a convention, not really for sight. Don't say that I shouldn't be using them, please. I haven't opened them but I want to try them out to make sure they don't damage my eyes. I don't need to use them for another three months but I wanna try them out sometime this week. Is it ok to leave them closed in cases and solution as long as I change the solution so often? Or would I have to get new contacts between now and three months from now?

Could you go a day without your glasses/contacts?

I can't even see 20 centimeters in front of my face without my contacts. I would die if I had to go a whole day without them because I have the worst myopia ever.

What about you? Could you last a full 24 hours without wearing your glasses or contact lenses? Obviously this question is for people who need these to fix their poor vision.

Why is one of my contact lenses doing this?

I had my contacts since Thursday. I have them because I'm nearsighted. When I went to the eye doctor to get them, they had me put them in and take them out a few times before taking them home. Even though it took me a while to do so, I did it. I had no problems with the contacts the last few days (no pain) other than the fact that it takes me a while to actually get them in. But today, I was putting my contacts in. My right one felt fine like it normally does and I could see with it, but when I put in my left contact, it hurt. So I took it out and put it back in, and when it was in my eye, it looked like it was wrinkled up in a way. Like it wasn't flat against my eye. My vision was fine, but It hurt to have it in. I tried a few more times but it did the same thing. Even when I cleaned it with more solution, it still did it. I know they weren't dried out, because they sat completely in the solution overnight. I don't know if I put my contacts in the opposite eyes, I don't think I did. So why was it like this? They aren't in my eyes now, I took them out and I'm using my glasses.

How to think star visibility would change if you were to go somewhere very dark?

I wrote this answer, is this correct?

The length of the tube varies proportionally to the number of stars counted. If the length of the tube increases the number of stars we are counting will also increase.
There are so many stars in the galaxy that it is hard to count them with the naked eye. Human eye is a somewhat imprecise instrument. Few people have 20/20 vision without the aid of lenses, and the eye changes in light gathering capability and acuity with age. Another reason for this difference could be the weather; for example if it is particularly cloudy, fewer stars would be visible to us. Because of these differences, the numbers of stars that are visible to the naked eye are different from the ones present in the galaxy.
However, if we go to a very dark place our results will differ. In this case we will be able to view more stars in the sky than under normal conditions. This is because stars are known to be celestial objects; the visibility of these objects is affected by light pollution. Outdoor lighting tends to scatter light upward, brightening the background of space. This increases sky brightness and reduces the contrast between the background and fainter stars, until the point where they become invisible to the eye. Pollutants in the atmosphere can substantially increase the extinction of light as it is transmitted through the atmosphere which reduces the visibility of the stars. If we are in a dark place such as a wild area, there will be less light pollution; hence more stars will be visible to us.

I used to wear one lens of Acuvue 2 for 2 months?

Hi,

from the past 5 years and until now. And I used to wear one pair of the contact lenses "Acuvue 2" for 2 months. This is because the optic store told me that there are monthly lenses and I can wear them for up to 2 months if I skip wearing them 2 days a week.
and my eyes did not has any problems with that.
However, just now I found that Acuvue 2 lenses are to be used fortnightly only. (2weeks).
so now I will not use them for more than 14 days.

but I spend 5 years of my life wearing these lenses for up to 2 months. Is that gonna affect my eyes?! And how?

thank you.

I want to be a Locomotive Engineer?

I want to be a Locomotive Engineer, but I am color blind. Before you disregard this just because I said color blind, just hear me out. Are there engineers out there who have color corrective lenses? Do they allow that? I know that there's this guy who deals with color blind people, makes contact lenses to correct it, and has patients that are in the police force, military, and on the railroads. What are the rules regarding color corrective lenses? Do I have an opportunity for a field test or some sort of an alternative test to prove what I can do? I think i read those rules somewhere but I just want to be sure. I've really always wanted to do this and I don't want it to stop me. I take the train every day and I can easily distinguish between the signals, and traffic lights have never been a problem for me.

Is there any treatment for ectopic lens?

My daughter has been diagnoised with ectopic lens, we have seen an ophthalmologist who says she is to visit the optitians every six months to check any change and edit her glasses prescription if needed. She has painful, itching eyes most evenings. Is there actually treatment for ectopic lens as nothing has been mentioned and she can't go on with painful eyes every evening. She has also been diagnoised with Marfans Syndrome which is where this has cone from.
Any professional advice would be most helpful.

Should i continue wearing ortho-k contact lenses? Does anyone have any experience with them?

So I got ortho-k lenses about a month ago and they have been working pretty well for me but my eyes did water a little at the beginning. I'm 14(15 next month) and my mom is very worried that I'll get an infection and last night, she had some friends over for dinner and they said that they used ortho-k before but then stopped because a friend that they knew pulled their pupils out when they removed the lenses in the morning with that plunger thing. I was just wondering, have any of you used it before? Is there another way of getting them out other than the plunger? What is the chance of infection? Should I continue? Thanks a lot!

My contact lense is blurry?

So I have one eye that sees great and one bum eye. I got glasses a while back, but I never wear them because the difference between my eyes is so dramatic that the glasses make me a little dizzy (I believe they are +2.50 on one eye).

I finally decided to switch to a contact lens, like my previous doctor suggested. However, I went to a local optometrist and after a brief test I left with a contact lens that still left my bad eye blurry (+1.50 if I remember right. They didn't even give me a receipt with all this information, I had to ask what strength it was.). I let it sit for a week, went back for my checkup, explained that my vision in that eye is still a little off and without re-testing me the doctor gave me a stronger lens with a comment like "Even though you didn't test that way." Snarky. I popped it in right there this time because I was concerned, and it's STILL BLURRY (+2.00 lens). Is it worse? AM I CRAZY? I'm going insane. I asked the lady at the desk about it and she said "Give it a few days and then you can always come in and change it."

I'm starting to think something is wrong with me, but I don't have a stigmatism. I can see 20/20 without glasses or contacts, it's only when I close my good eye that everything goes bad.

Is this normal? Do contacts REALLY take time to adjust to?
