Acuvue Oasys vs other brands?

My insurance stopped covering Acuvue Oasys contact lenses but that's all that I have worn for the last 6 years. And of course contact lenses are stupid expensive with out insurance. Does anybody know of another brand of contact lenses that best compares to Acuvue Oasys?

Eye plus power reduced? What is happening?

Okay, let me tell you that this is going to sound really weird. When I was born, within 5 months, my mother was told that I have eye problems and that is hypermetropia. And I would have it for life. Then, last year, something strange happened. I realised that I can see much better without my spectacles, nearby and distance object both. I know, I should have gone way before but I ignored it. But finally, today I went to an eye hospital. And they did my complete eye checkup. Much to my shock, they told me I have no plus power. It's gone (it was +1.0 in L and +0.75 in R). And now, I have myopia, that too with -0.50 in L and -0.25 in R. So, I have no freaking idea how my plus power reduced without any surgery. Can somebody please explain?

Over-prescription for Astigmatism?

I was previously using non-astigmatism lens for my myopia, and I noticed that when I read, the words are a little fuzzy

Went to the Optometrist and got diagnosed with only 0.25 Astigmatism in my Left eye, and none in my right, but was prescribed 0.5 for my left eye lens

The lens are clear when reading words on hard copy paper, but when I read on the computer screen my eye starts to hurt.
When I close my right eye (healthy eye) and read with my left eye, there is a significant fuzziness in the words.

Is this caused by the over-prescription? What should I do.

Do contact lenses expire?

So December last year I order a 3 months supply of 2 week lenses. I stopped wearing them soon enough and now have a 2 month supply left. So it's been 7 months and I want to start wearing them soon but I'm not sure if they expire. I can't find anything close to an expiration date except for one thing on each of the packed lenses, left eye lenses says "2017/04" and the other "2017/01" but I can't be sure if they are the expiration dates.

Was wondering if anyone knew if they do? ðŸ˜Â

Mom won't let me get colored contact lenses?!

So a while my mom told my I looked really cute wearing her grey contact lenses (we have the same prescription) and I was 14 and going to a masquerade with a friend. Now I am 16 and am due for an appointment. The doctor said I can get contact lenses and I got excited! I said (exactly) "Oh mom can I get the grey ones that you had and I wore and you said I looked really cute in?" And I smiled. This was her exact response: "uh I don't think you should wear colored ones they are to grown looking. I don't think so" ðŸ˜Â' I was like "but I wore them when I was fourteen and you said I looked cute?" No sass mouth or anything I was very calm and polite about the situation and she got mad and said "well if you don't like it you can wear glasses I don't care!" And the worst part is the doctor lady was right there listening to her embarrassing me. Ugh I'm in the bathroom of the doctor and washing my face (I haven't gotten the exam yet) what am I supposed to do I was so ready to be done with glasses and they off clear ones but (no bratiness intended) I don't want those also I lost one of my clear ones when I was fifteen it took me a really long time to find please help me convince her toget me these colored ones

Did the eye doctor scam me?

Went to eye doc today who told me I have 20/20 vision in 1 eye and 20/20+ In the other (I went to get colored contacts) and she said she would write me a prescription but when I said why would I need one she got super defensive. This is what she wrote:

Os: -0.50x 180

My vision feels fine and I really feel I was scammed. At first, she did an eye pressure exam and lense exam and said I need a 'strong prescription' then did an eye exam and said I have 20/20 (the exam lasted less than 10 min and she was VERY pushy for payment and was late to the appointment) and now I have this perscription. I am concerned for my health and after I kept asking her she said I don't need a perscription if "I don't want". Please help I'm only 19 and freaking out. Thanks.

I wish I could buy minus lenses as easily as you can buy reading glasses.

My mother has hyperopia and presbyopia, she can neither see well up close nor even far away.

Will she have accommodation again with that surgery? She is 63.

My son was recently prescribed hos first pair of glasses, and they are kind of strong for his first pair (-2 in each eye). When his eyes were checked, asked him to read a chart from 20 feet away and put different power lenses in a viewer and had him read charts through the viewer to see which power he could see clearly through, and he was able to read everything accurately with the prescription he currently has. My wife wears glasses, and I can see perfectly with her glasses on if I purposely blur my vision. My son and wife are not related, so theres no way he got his bad vision from her, and he did not want to dialate his pupils either, so I feel like he purposely blurred his vision to fail, is that possible?

I want to buy circle contacts for a cosplay and I saw somewhere it said you have to go to an eye doctor so they can measure the size of your eyes. Is that for prescription contacts or all types?

I wear my 2 week contacts for a month. Is that a problem?

My annoying sister who thinks she knows everything keeps telling me to change my contacts every month but my doctor and multiple website, even the contact box says change them every two weeks. I wear Acuvue Oasys for astigmatism, should I began wearing them for two week intervals and should I get an eye exam to see if I have an infection for over wearing the contacts?

Peeling skin off of leopard geckos face?

I just picked up a leopard gecko off of some guy on Craigslist because it needed to be out of there ASAP. The poor thing is lethargic and running into things because it's eyes(and top of head in general) were covered by a hood of a couple layers of unshedded skin. I peeled one side of it off successfully and the eye underneath looks healthy and bright and open with no gunk or anything. However the other side is a bit more difficult… I got it wet with a drop of water before trying to peel and there is this clear gooey stuff that is pulling from the eye. I'm concerned this could be his eye lens. It doesn't seem swollen and he's trying to lick at it now but I feel he could just be licking at the water because in his original water dish he was housed with was full of mucky nasty water with a film over it. Very hard to bite my tongue when I went to go pick him up but he is out of that environment now which was my goal. Should I take him to the vet? Should I try to flush the area with water again? Or mineral oil (I use mineral oil to help my ball python when his eyes don't shed properly)? Take him to the vet?

How? I'm asian too but my pupils are normal sized, but this is just ridiculous, they look like little girls. Are they contacts, where do you buy them?

Contact lens emergency?!

I am worried as the blood vessels in my eyes are really prominent (I assume this is due to contact lenses). I think I might be starving my eyes of oxygen! Please help if you know anything about this? Should I go to the opticians?

Is it bad to get contact lens box (unopened supply) wet?

My bathroom flooded and the boxes flooded. I am new to contacts. The contact lenses that were unopened were in the box, the cardboard one, and the plastic blister inside. The cardboard one got wet and the inside was wet too. Was the plastic blister enough? I may be paranoid but I m new and I want to make sure! Thanks!

I have very high myopia, and I was wondering if contacts don't support my eyesight fully, if I could wear glasses over them to to see better. I currently wear glasses with very thick lens and I was hoping if I could get contacts and even if they don't support my eyesight fully I could wear glasses with thinner lens over them.

Added (1). I have a pair of aviators but they make me feel dizzy. I've worn other glasses and tried on my brother's (which are smaller). They all make me feel dizzy. If I look at something but move my head back and forth the thing i am looking at moves too. I think this is normal and most people probably get use to it. However I wear contacts most of the time so I haven't gotten use to it. I'd think lens that are flat would correct this. I wear -4.50 in both eyes. Next pair will be -5.50.

How was it? Did it feel or look weird at all? Did anyone comment on it?

I wear glasses but I will be cos-playing for the first time soon as a character without them, but sadly there's not enough time to get used to contact lenses now. I have a few ideas on how to get round it but I'm a bit nervous on case I'll look silly.

People call me ugly?

Hello, my name is Alice, I am 14 years old. So here it is. I am 5'6" tall, I have dark brown hair. And dark eyes.Oh and I am 120 pounds. People call me ugly a lot.Boys say I'm gross and ugly and I never was one of the pretty girls. In school i was bullied many times this last year that i actually had to skip classes several times; without telling my parents:( But I've honestly tried many things to make myself look prettier.

My hair is kinda long, when it's short it's a little over my chest and when it's straight it's under my chest maybe few inches more. My mom won't let me dye my hair or buy contact lenses. Blonde/light brunette hair girls with blue and brown eyes are much prettier and cuter. I do my best with what I can.

People also make fun of my nose and say that i need to get a nose job. I'm not sure if this because i have the fringe hairstyle is not very flattering. Of course my parents would never agree in having surgery!
Please help me find a way to fix my looks.I'm really sad for being so ugly.

I put some water on my contacts can I still use them?

I was in class and my contacts felt very uncomfortable so I took them out and they looked dry. I ran some tap water on them because I couldn't just put them back in, if I go home and put them in solution will they be sterile again? I can't just replace them because my mom pays for my contacts and I've already replaced my last monthly pair too early so it would be wasting money to replace my contacts for this month.

Dark circles under my eyes?

I started wearing glasses in 5th grade. Now I'm in 7th grade and I'm thinking of getting contacts. The only problem is that when i take off my glasses, i see dark circles under my eyes. Left eye is slightly blurry?

About a month ago I got my "L" (driving license) and had a vision test where they told me I had a weak vision on the left. I knew that long ago but since I can see things fine with both eyes, I never bothered. It's just that I can't see stuff that's far away with my left eye… And is that a bad thing? I'm 17 years old and I've never really had a vision test. Although I'd hate to wear glass/contact lens, should I still go see a doctor? =_=;;

Sharing contact lenses? - 2

I recently lost my glasses, but my friend has a similar prescription to mine, and has NEW contact lenses she's willing to let me borrow. She hasn't worn them yet, or even taken them out of the package yet. I'm going on vacation in the next couple days and can't see without my glasses, and I won't have time to get a replacement pair before I leave.

Single Vision or Progressive Lenses?

I'm shopping for a pair of new glasses and I wanted to know what the main differences are between single vision lenses and progressive lenses. I know that progressives are better, but the cost is a $200 difference, so would it be a total mistake to opt for the single visions? I have poor eyesight. -5 in both eyes and an astigmatism.

Should I swtich over to contact lenses or keep wearing glasses? (Info)?

To make a long story short: I needed reading glasses when I was 12, but I refused to wear them because I thought kids were gonna make fun of me, and my mum couldn't force me to as much as she tried.

When I was 18, which was 3 years ago, my bad vision was even worse and I finally gave and made an appointment to get my eyes checked, but i screwed myself over when I was younger. The eye doctor told me I do need glasses (or contacts) to correct my vision and I have astigmatism in one of my eyes.

I have to wear glasses all the time and I've been wearing them since I was 18, which I had to learn my lesson the hard way, and I'm thinking of switching to contacts.

I wasn't trying to make this post lengthy and I'm not sure about what I should do.

Clear care problem?!

I have clear care and the special case that clear care provided but i forgot where i put it at so i put clear care in the flat case( about a week) and now that i found it. I put my contact lens into that special case to neutralize it. My question is can i still use it after i put it back into the special case or i have to throw it away?

Adjustment period for glasses? Help?

I first got glasses in the first grade and switched over to contacts in the sixth grade. I am now 22 and needed to switch back to glasses due to some complications. I have only had my new frames/lenses for 3 days but when I wear them, I feel as if I am in a dream. Everything feels so surreal and it is actually causing me a lot of anxiety attacks. I accidentally got in the pool with my contacts. I was in the water I didn't go under nor did I go far. When little boy splashed the water n it hit my eye I realized I had my contacts still on so I went to take them out and put them in my solution. They didn't really bother me I noticed they felt a little rubbery but not too bad. Should they be okay to still wear? Will I go blind or get an infection? Did my solution clear the bacteria off or should I see my doctor to get new ones? I'm new to contacts I just got them 4 days ago my mom finally let me get some so I don't want her to regret it but I don't want to go blind.

Could hayfever be causing all of this?

I've had swollen eyes since 24th June, some days worse than others, it's always worse in the mornings, gradually goes down as the day continues and then puffs back up again in the morning. Some mornings I have been unable to open my right eye fully, however this has only happened a couple of times. I do suffer from hay fever and there has been high levels of pollen for the last week or two, however I have never suffered problems with my eyes before this. I have no other problems with my eyes - no loss of vision, pain, itchiness etc, just swollen eyelids. I do usually wear contact lenses however have not worn them since the day before they swelled up. I have tried every method known to reduce the swelling and have used medication provided by the doctor correctly, however nothing has helped.
I don't know if it is related but I've also had no appetite whatsoever, I've ate very little over the past week. I have tried to make myself eat when I don't want to but it didn't go very well. I constantly feel thirsty and have a dry throat regardless of how much I drink, I am unable to sleep well at night at all, as a result I'm very irritable and constantly snapping at everybody. I've also experienced a few moments where I get extremely dizzy or begin to feel faint, but have not actually fainted.

Is this all just down to hay fever? I've been taking tablets daily ever since my eyes swelled up.

Cantact lens offset. Is it a problem?

Hello everyone,
I m a new contract lenses user (since 2 days) and until now I had no problems apart from the itchiness when putting them on, which should probably dissappear after a while. But something interesting I observed was that sometimes when I look in the corners of my eyes it s getting blurry, the light is being reflected so that I sometimes see light arrays in front of my eyes and the most important, the contact on the right eye is a little bit offset (by approximately 0.5 mm).

My question is, should I be concerned about it, or is it normal and all those tiny side effects are going to go away with the time?

I m going to make a small sketch to represent what I mean through offset and post it here.

And yes, I m going to ask my doctor in 3 weeks when I have my next appointment but as you know, he might not want to order new ones just because of his topography error (or who knows why) and because I want to know if I should give him a call or wait 3 more weeks.

Be honest, help is much appreciated.

I have astigmatism on both eyes. The contact lens for my right eye always fits perfectly but I always feel the left contact lens for usually two hours after putting them on. Is this normal or should I see my contact lens optician?

im afraid of going blind…
ok so i have been wearing contact lenses since i was like 15 and im now 22, for about 8 hours a day and i wanted to know if there are any risk on this like should i start using glases? Can i go blind for using them?
p.s i dont sleep with them but i just got worried out of nowhere.
