How long should contact lenses soak the first time?

I just got new circle lenses for a cosplay, and I can't figure out how long to let them soak in the solution the first time before trying them on ): I've been searching online but all that comes up is how long to leave them in Your eyes. I thought it was about 6-8 hours.

Added (1). Thanks for You concern, but there are many things that can ruin eyes and anything can hurt the body. Smoking kills, but who is going to stand up against tobacco in this country. I'm not a beginner with lenses, as I wear them now, but I just need to know how long I need to soak them as I can't remember. Most people who complain about circle lenses and getting damage to their eyes are the ones who accidentally sleep with them, don't clean them daily, or dry their eyes out.

How long do I soak my contacts?

I recently ordered a pair of colored contact lenses on PinkyParadise and I waited almost a month for them to come in and they finally came in today. When I got them I dumped them out and washed them with opti free. Then, put a good amount of that also in the case. I hear that you have to let newly opened contact lenses for almost a day before using them. I wanna use them now? I just put them in and I told my mom that I was gonna just try to put them in my eyes here in about 2-3 hours. Is that good enough? Yes, I know. Soaking for at least 4 hours is a good enough span to get all the junk and what not off of the contacts but, wouldn't soaking them for at least 2-3 hours be okay?

Is there any job I could do in the military?

I've always wanted to join the military but I have never been able because I have a vitamin deficiency that means I have to take a daily dose of biotin.

On top of that I suffered some sight loss before I was diagnosed and although with contact lenses or głassess I have 20/20 vision I still have some sight loss.

Looking at the the fitness requirements for the army, it doesn't specifically say I would be excluded from joining for that but under other conditions it does say "Diseases requiring long-term medication or replacement therapy." So basically I am excluded from joining because I have to take a daily dose of biotin even though it's only I vitamin and I assume it would be the same for the other branches oft he military.

So is there any job I can do in the military at all that's not just office/paper work as a filing clerk or administrator.

Eyes burn after cleaning contacts?

Ok, so I have gas permeable lenses that I have to wear overnight to correct my vision (dream lenses) and once a week I have to clean them with the red capped cleaner. I clean them and rinse them throughly but even though I wait 10 hours after cleaning them to wear them again they burn my eyes when I put them in, and the burning does not go away. The next day the burning is less extreme and I can stand to sleep in them again. So my question is why is this happening? I have tried more than one brand of it and it is still causing problems… (happening for about 3 months now) Should I ask my eye doctor about whats causing this?

Americas best bait and switch scam? - 1

Ok so I got an eye infection a while ago and decided to get glasses instead for work. Americas best advertised two pairs or reg.plastic lens glasses with single lens and a free exam included for $70! It sounded great and I had the exam picked the frames then the guy takes out a calculator! I declined all the add ons and he still said it came to$240! I fought it and did walk out with the two for 70 but he was trying to tell me the lenses were a seperate cost and they ARE included. I read all the fine print. He also kept trying to upgrade the glasses so that Id void the conditions of the deal. Be careful and know exactly how much it should be cuz those people are like used car salesman!

I have a ghosting out of my left eye, like when I watch tv and there's white scrolling thing like let's say sports scores on espn there's like a ghosting coming out of the words and scores, what is this? I have -6.50 in my right lens and -6.00 in my left lens

Nose ring suddenly flared-up and irritated?

I got my nose pierced in mid-July, around 7/8 months ago. I did have a problem before with moving the piercing and treated it with sea salt treatment. But that was back quite a few months ago.

I've only changed it once from a stud to a ball closure ring (which I had taken the ball out because it's far too big a ball and was pulling). But, the nose has been fine for 3 or 4 months. Cleaning it with a Saline solution (basically contact lens cleaner as suggested by my piercer) about two times a day, three if I feel I need to. I clean my hands always before I even think about touching it.

Whenever I turn the nose ring to clean it, it's been fine for these past few months but suddenly it's flared up and hurt if I move it too much. This happened overnight and it's worrying me.
I looked up and various people have said my two-week long cold (mainly effecting my nose) might have caused this.

It's mainly just irritation but I'm unsure if anyone has had the same problem, ever and if it went away.

Note: If it gets worse I'm going to be in town in a week and I'll go back to the place I got it pierced to get it checked.

Can I legally get old prescription glasses lenses put in new frames in Texas?

I liked my glasses very much and find the lenses work fine. However, the frames broke recently, in such a way that repairs just won't take. I will be getting a thorough eye exam soon for health reasons from a neuroopthalmologist, but in the meantime, I would like to replace my old glasses by simply getting the old lenses put into new frames, because it would presumably be much faster (the contact lenses issued by my last eye doctor were absolute crap despite three remakes and having to wear them is driving me bats, so I'm wanting a speedy fix). I don't even have a copy of my last, now-expired, prescription to be able to get them somewhere online. Is it (a) legal IN TEXAS and (b) feasible to go somewhere and just get new frames for the old lenses?
Added (1). On replacing just the relevant part: Not possible -- they are plastic frames, with all but the earpieces being a single molded item, and the bridge snapped in two. As for contacting the original doctor, the glasses are 5-8 years old, so I feel it is unlikely he could help at this point. (Apart from which, he was an overpriced and arrogant snot, which is why I didn't go back, so it's not as if I think he would help if he could.)

They came from VisionWorks in Dallas, back when they were EyeMasters. Haven't dropped by to see if they still carry the same frame, but from what I've read online in the last couple of days, it would appear that lenses are what the opticians bank on to make the profit. It's hard to think where I might find a "friendly optician" inclined to try to assist…

Prescription Sunglasses with contacts?

So I'm 15 and I just got a restricted license for my driving, but I have a question about optical. I like to wear contacts for everyday use (The soft ones) and theyre the ones you take out everynight, etc. I also have a pair of Oakley sunglasses that have polarized prescription lenses in them.
They have the same prescription as my contacts but when I put them on, everything seems to get a little clearer.
It sounds good but I'm not sure.will this put more strain on my eyes or something? Will it be okay?
It wouldnt be for long periods of time, maybe 1-2 hours at MOST.

Contacts went inside or dropped off?

So I was wearing contact lens and then I started crying and closing my eyes and also rubbing and the next moment I realized my vision was blurry on my right eye. So I figured that the contacts dropped out but I wasn't sure if it dropped out or went to the "back" of my eye because I couldn't find the lens. I've encounter several times where lens went to the back of my eye and was able to take it out but this time, I wasn't sure what to do. Help!

My left eye is -1.25 and my right is -1.50 i have been doing bates method for a month and i cant read the second last line on the chart with my left eye i tried wearing -1.50 no help. Daily Disposable coloured lenses?

Hi. Recently I've purchased Freshlook one-day colored lenses.
They say at the back of the box it said 'do not reuse' but I was thinking: If i want to just try it on for one hour, can I still reuse it in another day?
cuz I'm dying to try them on but i'm afraid that if I do I can't rewear them again and thus i would waste one pair of circle lenses. Currently i have no events to wear the lenses.

First time buying Astigmatism contacts lens and don't know how it works. Cheaper anywhere?

So my prescription is this at the moment and I have astigmatism. I am new to contacts and I am planning to get them but I asked today at the optical store which sells half a year supply for around $170. I felt it was kind of expensive so I want to ask you guys how much did this cost you guys? And how does ordering contacts work?

Also, My prescription for the OS CYL is -1.00 but on the contacts, I only see -0.75 or -1.25 but no -1.00. How does this work?

Right now, I'm trying to buy just half a year but I don't know how buying contacts works.

OD -3.25 -0.75 x180

I need some contact lens advice?

The sterile solution that contacts come in, does it kill ALL bacteria? I ask because I bought some contacts but one was contaminated because it infected one of my eyes after the first wear and I know FOR SURE I did nothing wrong. I emailed the company and they refuse to give me a replacement because "they sent it in sterile solution so it is impossible for it to have been contaminated." Is that true? Should I keep pressing to get my replacement?

First off, I wear glasses/contact lenses. So I'm nearsighted.
I was just wondering, why do I see blotches or dots after looking at a light? Like, when I look up at my ceiling fan/lamp or any light, when I turn away, my sight "vibrates" or "flashes" and I see dots. Can anyone explain this?

My prescription is -2.75, but I am dying for circle lenses. I already wear normal contacts, but my mom says no to circle lenses right now, but I'm assuming that my prescription won't be that different if she says yes when I'm older. What are lenses i can use for a customized gas mask?

Hi! Ive made a gas mask out of mask latex as well as made the eye plates and other accessories out of plastic. The first one ive made i went out and bought sunglasses and fabricated them into the plate however, i plan to make more and don't want to have to go out and find sunglasses every time. I did some research and found polycarbonate lens sheets but am unsure of what kind i would need or if thats even the correct option.

Does anyone know of anything i can get in a sheet, that way i can customize it? Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

The prescription shall contain all of the information necessary to permit the buyer to obtain the necessary ophthalmic goods from the seller of his choice. "SELLER OF HIS CHOICE. GLASSES ARE NECESSARY. It is true i got contacts from them, and have those as a necessary thing. But glasses are usually considered a necessary contact back-up. What can i do about this? All the places i've been to claim they can't give me my PD cause of "liability issues". How can it be a liability at a place i'm NOT EVEN A CLIENT AT. "oh i bought these glasses online and this one doctor's office told me my pd wrong. I'm suing them even though there is no proof on either end i got my pd measured there." It's just a BS excuse.
Can i let them know they are violating the law by not giving me this since it is necessary for me to get a "necessary good from a seller of my choice"
Added (1). footprintz, i can look up how to take my own pd. That won't help. I need accurate measurements from a machine. I like fitted glasses specifically to all my measurements.

I have really bad eyes, is laser eye surgery right for me?

So here's the details (sorry I don't know my prescription):
- I have very bad eyesight…like to the point that without my glasses I can't read anything in smaller print near (like right up to my face) or far.

- I have a lazy (left) eye, but it is not caused by a lack of tension in the muscle but by vision, so with my glasses on (which I have NEVER went a day without) it does NOT turn in, but with them off they do when I try to focus.

- whenever I put any sort of lenses over my eyes (besides my glasses) it will turn in until it properly focuses, this includes putting sunglasses over my glasses or 3D glasses

Now I really want to do this, but I am afraid of doctors trying to rush me in for some business, I have looked up LASIK and I don't really want to go through them just from reviews and I think I want to go through a company "London Eye Centre". Their reviews are great and they have a no touch surgery, they have also turned down patients from LASIK for touch ups (which would cost money) telling them that they think it should be fine, which kind of eases my fears of someone rushing me in to get business.

My question is now, of course, is laser eye surgery right for me? What are some cons to it? What should I watch out for? What would the healing time be (I know it varies but what to expect)? What are the risks?

Coloured Contacts? Help?!

I got coloured contacts for my cosplay, but my vision is already 20/20 so I never wore any form of contact lens in my life.
For some reason, no matter what method I try, I can't get the contact in my eye. It's not the touching my eye thing that's bothering me, the contact just won't go it. Anytime I think I have it in, when I pull my finger away, it's still there on my finger, but sometimes it inverts.
I don't know if I'm doing it wrong, of if what my mum says is true which is that some eyes just can't wear contacts because they're shaped weird, but that sounds odd to me.
Any tips or ideas?

How badly have I damaged my eyesight?

I got contacts for the first time about three years ago… They tried to start me on hard contacts, but that just didn't work and I currently wear Air Optix.

When I was first starting, it was a pain getting them in and out, literally and figuratively… It would take upwards of thirty minutes to get them both in, and would burn for two hours when they were in… This tempted me to keep them in for extended periods, even though I knew I shouldn't. I slept in them, and they would be in for thirty days or more straight.

About three months ago, I was short on contacts, down to two pairs. I don't want to get into it, but I had no money. Zero… I could not afford the new exam or new contacts… I've worn the same pair now pretty much since then.

I have an appointment on the 10th for an exam and to get fitted for new contacts (the money is finally there, or I'll pretend it is at least).

How badly do you think I have damaged my eyes using contacts not approved for overnight wear overnight on a continual basis?

I can tell my eyesight is worse than it was when I started wearing contacts.

i wear my circle lenses to school and tomorrow there's a pta meeting like half hour later, so my parents are meeting me in town for half hour after school and then i'll be going to the pta meeting with them (2 hours). Will it be alright if i wear my circle lenses for 11-12 hours max, one time only? I definitely don't plan on making this a regular thing, it's just i won't be going home at all until after the meeting.

Had a bloodshot eye all day, what is this?

Hi, I woke up this morning and my right eye was stuck together and was completely bloodshot and was a bit sore. I wear contact lenses for Better eye sight but I was unable to put them in as it made my eye hurt a little. I've never had anything like this before and I could not go into work as I need my contact lenses in because I work with power tools all day so I didn't want to chop my hand off! Can someone give me some info for this? I'm not going to go the doctors yet as it might be better by tomorrow, thanks guys.

I'm worried about my eyes?

I am 13 and one of my eyes is a perscription 2.5 and the other is 3.0. I am near sighted (without contact lenses or glasses, I can only see things clearly if their right near me). When I first got glasses about 3 yrs ago, both my eyes were a 2.5. Is this severe for my age? I have a stronger perscription than my parents! >.< I'm scared I'll be blind by the time im 30! So I'm writing a short story about a pair of glasses that gets thrown out by its owner. Most of it takes places while its in the dumpster. It gets replaced by a pair of contact lenses and I've used flashbacks to describe how its life was before. I am not sure how it should end, though. I want it to be a little sad but not tear-jerking or anything. Any ideas? Maybe it hears the rubbish trucks coming to collect him?

Is there a big difference between these 2 contact prescriptions?

my doctor prescribed me with clearsight 1-day contacts. They really suck, theyre very uncomfortable an after a few days of researching, i think the best option for me is acuvue oasys hydraclear. I went to walmart and they told me my doctor only subscribed me for the clearsight but that they would sell me the acuvue if the doctor could fax over a new prescribtion. The problem is that acuvue doesnt make the exact size i was "fitted' for. Well i called my dr and they said he wasnt going to subscribe me for something completely different unless he examined me 1st. Well according to him i have to make a new appointment and pay for an eye exam ($200) because my insurance only pays for it once a year. 1800contacts doesnt need a copy from the doctors and i was thinking of buying it there if there isnt much of a difference. Would i be ok with the acuvue? Heres the 2:

Which Contact lenses should I get? - 2

i REALLY want to get some contacts but I don't know what type I should get. I really want to get:
-some that breathes and doesn't hurt my eyes
-has to be inexpensive
-and some that you don't have to change that often

i heard that there were some contacts that you can just leave in your eyes for 30 days and then change them out, what are those called, what's your review on them, and how much do they cost?

Just got contact lenses for the first time and my left one is bothering me?

I got them on friday and tried them for the first time yesterday. It did bother me then as well but only on the south side:P i thiught it might have been ripped slightly or smth but as i foud out later when i got them out there was some debris on it that i hadnt noticed. Anyway i put them in the solution etc. Today i tried again and i made sure that there was notging on it but it still botheres me after i put it on. And again on the south side. I mean even if it was ripped what are the chances of me putting it in the exact same position as yesterday? (Well 25% i think but anyway) my q is: could ive biught them like that? The right one is fine just my left one that bothers me tho. And is there a chance that this is happening because its the first few times? Will my eye get use to it? Also, it gets me more time to put the left one in so my left eye gets more irritated; could this be cats causing it to bothr me so much? Thanks in advance! :)

Is it ok to wear natural looking color lenses to school?

Hey! I just bought some really pretty looking color contacts that are in pure hazel, they are not so different from mine just a little lighter. I love them and have gotten many compliments on them they look like if it was my own natural color! They don't bother me or anything and my optimist says i can wear them to school do you think it won't be weird or anything? Will it scare my friends or something that i just change eyecolor like that?xD

Trial Contact lenses?

So I got a box of trial contact lenses for each eye, there are 10 contact lenses in each box. 8 of them are the normal ones and I'm using them, 2 of them are kinda different. They got a caution sign and RX only sign on the containes(or wrappers whatever u wanna call them).my eye doctor said NOTHING about it. NOW, I'm running out of the normal ones, I can't call, they are closed. Can I use them? Does the signs(prescription only) mean anything?

I am attending the Bar Council conference on Saturday for aspiring Barristers. They told me the dress code is smart casual and I have no idea what to wear! Help please lol.
I have a fairly wide range of clothes in my wardrobe:)

I see light/sparkles sometimes when i look around?

I see these light particle, blue, red, white. they are small and look almost like a spark from a lighter being ignited. i often see them, sometimes when i go to look at something or move left or right. sometimes they can appear close or far away but remain the same size. is confusing, im sure its just me, but i told my friend the other day see if he knew, he just thought i was weird and plain crazy.

does smoking weed have any issue linked to this, or maybe drugs? does anyone know this possible cause of sparks of lights. Is it just my eye or brain?

people told me could be retinal or eye socket that is loose, or tear in the lens of the eye. but im not sure, im sure it exists inside my head. it continuously happens, and confuses me. am i hallucinating? is crazy, drives me a bit insane, cause im seeing stuff that ain there.

Wearing glasses and weight loss?

I have a question regarding weight loss and whether it is impacted by whether one wears glasses or contact lenses. Sorry I might sound a little silly but I used to wear contacts but stopped as I found them uncomfortable and too costly so switched to glasses, I only wear them occasionally now, not daily. I noticed when I used to wear contacts I would lose weight very quick and I've been wearing glasses for 3 months now and not lost any weight,it has stayed the same. Is there a correlation with the two…I was just wondering or am I just being paranoid…my weight has been the same for 3 months,it has not gone down or up. I have been working out and trying to control my diet too. Thanks all.

They do not make contact lenses in my prescription, should i wear glasses instead?

The contacts are not strong enough for my eyes and i still struggle to see properly with them in, i feel that i can see better with glasses on.

What is the highest near sighted contact lens that can be custom made?

2 years ago, my fiance had a retinal detachment in his right eye, the doctor removed his lens and placed a silicone oil. Due to a higher risk of detachment, the oil was left in his eye. We went to an Optometrist to check if there are available contact lenses to improve his vision. Unfortunately, there was not.

Then we noticed that he can clearly see through a paper weight magnifying glass. We were just wondering if anyone know about high power custom made contact lens? And any recommendation?

Contact lens disappeared in the side of my eye?

I have astigmatism and wear very thick and heavy contact lenses (they are 30 day continuous wear lenses). The one in my right eye felt odd tonight (as if there was a bubble under or it was placed incorrectly) so I attempted to remove and wear my glasses. I have removed my lenses many times and never had a problem with the technique I use (looking to one side, pulling the lens to the white on the other side and pinching it off), but tonight my lens slipped to the outside and I can no longer see it. I removed my other lens, put my glasses on and checked to see if the lens had actually came out (and I was pretty sure it didn't because I could feel it in my eye) and it was nowhere to be seen. I googled how to remove it and tried the techniques I found (using eye drops, folding my eyelids over, etc.). It is currently 11PM where I live so my optometrist is closed, my mom is asleep and it will not be a good thing if I wake her up, and I don't have a drivers license so I have no way to go to the hospital to get them to take it out.

Does any one have any other methods I can try because it is really starting to bug my eye?

P.S. I will not have the chance to have anyone remove it tomorrow either…so…I kind of need help here.

Any help would be appreciated. Please answer quickly.

Right contact isn't working?

I've had contacts for a little over a year, and everything was great until 6 months ago. I noticed my right eye would get a little blurry. It wasn't a problem till a few weeks later the contact started sticking to my eyelid. After some research I figured I had GPC, so I stopped wearing them for 2-3 months. I ordered new lenses, and within two days my problems resumed. I took another break until roughly 6 weeks ago, everything was fine for a week, and of course, it started it's thing AGAIN. Could it be the fit? Or something wrong with my right eye sense it the only eye that's had trouble?
