How much are contacts in canada?

I am 13 years old, i was thinking about getting contact lenses and i want to try to convince my dad to get them for me. I have glasses and i want contacts instead, the eye place i go to is first choice vision and it is 75 dollars for a contact lense appointment, i have read online that they are like 100 dollars and more, but i looked on clearlycontacts.ca and theres some for as cheap as 40 dollars, i wanted to get montly ones. I dont have any serious problems with my eye, i am close sighted though. I wanted to know how much it may be if i got them ordered from the eye place, would it be around 60 dollars or so for a 6 month pack? or would it be a lot more, because i wouldn't be ableto get them if it was a lot more. Anyone have any experience with that eye place or anything?

Reglazed prescription lenses?

Hey,

Recently I've just had an eye test and I've had a change in prescription. Rather than get new frames, I decided to get my new prescription lenses inserted in to my Ray Bans so that I could swap and change between the clear and tinted lenses should the need arise.

Prior to getting the new lenses fitted, I could take the tinted lenses out easily enough. However, since getting the new lenses inserted, I can't take the clear lenses out through fear of snapping the frame and/or lenses in my attempt to do so… They seem pretty stubborn.

Now, should I take them to the place where I got them done to tell them that I'm finding great difficulty in switching the lenses? Would they be obliged to rectify the matter if this is the case? Or should I just keep trying to loosen the lenses gradually?

I really don't want to have to shell out for a new pair of Ray Bans just to fit my old prescription tinted lenses…

Light sensitive while driving?

My eyes are sensitive to light, but I need glasses so that I can see distance, without my glasses I can't see very well. What can I do to prevent this? Do I need to get another pair of glasses with darker lenses?

Okay, I'm a normal girl who tops in every exam. I wear glasses. I had one lovely best friend. She has changed school. Now I'm left with no friends. I'm not a loner. I hate loneliness. There are those fun - loving popular sort of girls at our school who'd hang out ( or I say, use) you only if it benefits her. I can't bare that thing to sit with no one in benches. There's a circles of some other pals though but its fun to hang out with them but I never find a best friend in them. I took a giant leap in this vacation. I decided to do enormous shopping of clothes, hair accessories et al to look cool and I did it with bargain. I can't do just one thing. Contact Lenses. I get sort of blink reflex ( its quiet normal but when you have parents staring you and thinking " Oh you can't do this single thing " it feels pathetic) when I try to apply them. Anyway, I'd just do that. But what about fate. Would I actually get my share of pals?

Lens/Frame type suggestions for +6 sphere / -2 cyl?

Hi, I have several questions, mostly about making my eyes not look too big given the above Rx. (My other eye has a weaker Rx, which is why I don't want my eyes looking bigger, since this happens asymetrically.)

Would 1.74 be very helpful compared to 1.67? I'm mostly interested in eye size comparisons not thinness/weight.

Does an aspheric lens help?

Does the frame size / shape matter?

Any other suggestions or considerations would be much appreciated.

What are good green contacts for brown eyes?

I have light brown eyes two-toned, a inner chocolate coloured ring and a golden brown outer ring, and in sunlight they appear honey-brown, I've seen freshlook dimensions sea green but I don't think they look nice, my eyes are light so wearing powerful colourful opaque lenses look really fake but I want subtle green enhancers that won't give off a almost "plastic" look that other contacts do such as freshlook gemstone green, it doesn't have to be the freshlook brand, any brand that have really good quality enhancers, thanks!

Why won't the US make circle lenses?

Okay so by now everyone knows about circle lenses.the contacts that are really popular in asian countries. They're colored lenses but the color extends further than your iris making your iris appear larger, which in turn makes your whole eye appear larger, it's an optical allusion (ahahaahaha punny).

Anyway.they're not USFDA approved and US optometrists hate them. They're not good for your eyes because 1.they're "one size fits all" and 2.the material is not breathable and prevents the eyes from getting oxygen. Also.you have to order them online because they're illegal to sell within the states and that can be a little dangerous too if you don't know what you're doing. Along with not knowing what you're doing.if you have perfect vision a lot of people aren't going to go to the eye doctor to get fitted because well.they eye doctor isn't going to have those lenses there and if you brought them in they'd just shun them! So not only all that stuff but you also don't get taught the proper care if you're not already a lens wearer.SO many people wear circle lenses on a day to day basis and are perfectly fine. Day to day is not good at all.and you're not supposed to wear them for more than 8 hours… but people do it and wind up just fine. Really.with the proper care and following the rules of these lenses and not wearing them for too long.they're not THAT bad.

So.since they're SO popular now. I don't see why the US doesn't manufacture their own. All contacts go beyond the iris.so all they would have to do is make the colored contacts color go out further and BAM. you have circle lenses that are safe and USFDA approved.

I actually own a pair of circle lenses for costumes that I wear very rarely and have never had a problem with them. Something that irks me about colored lenses sold in the US is that the designs are horrid. I mean they don't look good at all. If you take a look at circle lenses a lot of the designs are absolutely gorgeous and there are so many.

So yeah.why can't the US just extend the color on their normal colored contacts? Also, why can't they make better designs? I know I'd be more eager to purchase from the US if they did that.

Help for my eyes! Should I trust the diagnostic!

So I went to the eye doctor because I am experiencing some problems with reading, I have constant headaches because I work with my computer for at least 10-12 hours per day and I am very sensitive to the lights. For example, at night when I am driving the lights of the other cars and street lights affect my vision very much, it's not blur but I can feel my eyes making an effort to catch up with the motion, I can't stand the sun light directly onto my eyes and most of the times I am wearing sunglasses.

My previous doctor gave me in 2010 reading glasses with -0.5 and -0.25 to use while I am reading and because I had the felling that it wasn't enough I visited the doctor last week. Since my doctor wasn't in the hospital I accepted to view another doctor but I am not confident of her diagnostic.

She told me that the refraction test said that I needed a -2.5 and -3 lenses and to wear my glasses permanently but since there isn't a need to use that much (something like that) she gave me (after making the reading test with the lenses) -1 and -1 lenses to wear it permanently.

Well, I know I might have a problem with my eyes but I think seriously that I don't need to wear glasses permanently. I just need help with light sensitivity.It's not like I can't read exactly… I don't know but I don't feel comfortable with her diagnosis and she seemed very cold and more interested in giving me glasses rather than listening to my problems.

I am scared I will damage my eyes by not wearing glasses and damage by wearing the wrong glasses!!! What do you think, would you trust her???

Flash in my peripheral vision?

Okay, I am really scared now(already asked this, but no one answered and I can't sleep because of it).

Anyways, I was listening to my ipod and answering questions while laying in bed. All the sudden in the peripheral vision in my left eye there was a bright green flash it looked kind of like a star or glitter, and lasted about 1-2 seconds.

I have been afraid to sleep since. Also, to add, I do see see a lot of flashing wavy lines and dots all the time, I don't know if that is normal or not, just curious about that part.

So, what could this have been? Lens crafters said I was nearsighted last year because I can't read street signs, but I don't wear my glasses because they don't do anything besides give me headaches.

Corrections for corneal scarring?

I have a scar in my left eye from when I had a corneal ulcer two years ago. I've been wearing RGP lenses since then, which smooths down the scar and gives me almost perfect vision, but I would rather not continue wearing them, as I have sensitive eyes and almost every day they hurt my eyes bad enough that I have to close them for a few minutes. However, I can't see out of my left eye while wearing glasses or soft contacts.

Anyway, the scar in my eye is about a millimeter above the center (thank goodness it's not directly in the center).My eyesight is not bad to begin with (only -1.3), but unless I wear the RGP lenses it's impossible to read the board in class or road signs while driving.My situation is not bad enough that I would be a candidate for a corneal transplant, but are there any other corrective measures that I might be able to take either to get rid of or heal the scar or just correct my vision in that eye?

I do intend to see if my optometrist can suggest anything; however, my next eye appointment is not for several months, so I appreciate any answers. =)

How long does it take for your eyes to adjust to a new brand of contacts?

I have grown up wearing Acuvue 2 contacts from the very beginning (brand of contact I got when I first got contacts). Lately, my new eye doctor has been trying to change the contacts… he did so last year, but it didn't work --- the contacts were causing blurriness up close and far away and we could never get it correct, so we reverted back to the Acuvue 2 lens and all was fine.

Went to the eye doctor a week ago and he said I was having a build up of blood vessels in the upper portions of my eyes, due to lack of oxygen, and that I should try the Day & Night contacts… --- which allow the most oxygen into the eye of any contact brand. Said that should fix the vessel issue … he understands my eyes are senistive to contacts changing but because he saw this, said a change had to be made.

My main question is how long does it take your eyes to adjust to a new brand of contacts?

With the new brand of contacts --- I could see fine from up close and at the computer with them --- however, from any distances, things would get a little blurry like traffic signs, etc… noticeably blurry and not overwhelming and when I blink, it clears up for a second or two and then goes blurry again… and this doesn't happen with the Acuvue 2 lenses.

So I wore the new ones for 2/3 days and when it didn't correct itself (blurriness didn't go away), I switched back to the Acuvue 2 lenses, which my vision is better with (although my eyes are having to now re-adjust to looking at a computer again since I have been changing contacts over the past week but that will go away).

The prescription is the same in both brands of contacts --- could the blurriness just be caused by the new brand of contact and my eyes needing time to adjust? I am willing to try them again for a longer period IF THIS WILL WORK… since I do need to get more oxygen into my eyes so that the blood vessels go away … but if not, I am going to have to stick with Acuvue 2 and figure out other ways to getting oxygen into my eyes more.

Can Contact Lenses cause problems like Wrinkles and Sagging?

I just same back from the opticians and I am going to be doing a contact lens trial.
She taught me how to apply them and how to remove them. I can do it and it requires a lot of pulling and stretching of the eyes etc.
I was always led to believe that you shouldn't drag your skin or mess with it, especially around the eyes as it's sensitive and that is the first place were people see ageing.
I am only young and if I am satisfied with using contact lenses then I will most likely keep use them for the rest of my life. Can this cause premature ageing like wrinkles and skin sagging etc?

Need new glasses but can't afford them?

Hey! I'm longsighted so I have difficulty focusing on closer objects like the text in books and things like small phones and stuff. I got glasses from the eye doctor around 6 months or so ago but I didn't wear them that much due to vanity - only put them on when I was in a poorly lit room and felt i was straining my eyes to focus. Anyway, I haven't worn them in a couple months since I wasn't working and at home I didn't have many eye issues. But recently I got a new job and it requires me to do a lot of fine print paperwork and work on the computer which I find strains my eyes. I tried wearing my old glasses but I think my prescription had changed. Glasses are too expensive to buy - could I just replace the lenses?

Is is possible that an optometrist in Canada does not know how to order RGP lenses?

I used to live in a village where getting my pair of RGP lenses every year from my optometrist was no big deal. I moved to Toronto and went to see one of the top optometrists in town and supposedly a contacts specialist (he got outstanding reviews on ratemydoctor too).At first, I was impressed by how knowledgeable he was until, despite my severe astigmatism and the fact that I told him my previous optometrists never recommended soft contacts, he wanted to put me on softs anyways.It didn't work out- the lenses were so big it took him and his assistant 15 minutes to put them on my eyes; my vision was 100% blurry, eyes were dry; and it took him all his fingers and another 5 minutes to take them out. He them asked for my previous RGP contacts information. He got the records from my old optometrist, and after sitting on it for three weeks, he told me he wasn't able to order RGP's and would refer me to a colleague.Is it possible that softs are big business and some business oriented optometrists just want to put their clients on softs for a profit? Also, is it normal for an optometrist not to know how to order RGP's? Is it possible that an optometrist becomes a soft contacts specialist and still doesn't have the knowledge it takes to order RGP's? I mean, there are websites that sell RGP's so how is it possible. Please help me understand.

The cylinder on my prescription doesn't match any of the choices online?

I'm just browsing around online for toric contact lenses and the optometrist that gave me my prescription wrote that the cylinder for my OD is -300 and for my OS is -400. However, most of the choices online are only in intervals of -0.25/-0.75 so they only have -2.75 and -3.25 … -3.75 and -4.25. How do I go about this?

Eyes feel like they're burning. What's causing this?

I wear daily disposable contact lenses and today after I took them off my right eye feels like it's burning. Every time I close my eyes I feel a little discomfort. I wore them for 9 hours today.

Urgent please! New daily disposable contacts user. Feeling uncomfortable?

I recently got fitted for daily disposable lenses. They're Ciba Vision Aqua Comfort Plus.It's only my third day wearing them, and I'm supposed to be wearing them for 8 hours today.So far it's only been a little over 2 hours. I'm meant to have my weekly check-up on Saturday.In my right eye, I have a very slight astigmatism (-0.75 if I remember correctly).My prescription is -4.00 for my left eye and -5.00 for the right, and despite the astigmatism, I'm just wearing normal lenses because I was reassured that it wouldn't make too much of a difference (though I could get astigmatic lenses if I wanted).

Today I had a little trouble putting my contacts in. I kept getting air bubble in them and blinking the contact out. I eventually got the contacts in and they felt fine. I'm almost certain that that they have no lint or soap on them, and that they are the right way up. They looked like a bowl, and when I reversed them they didn't give easily, and once reversed, they turned themselves back to their original (and I'm guessing correct) way.

Once in, the contacts were fine for a while, but now they're starting to feel almost dry and sticky on the surface on my eye, especially when I blink, and I can feel the right one constantly, and the left a little less (mainly when I blink). Also, when I look just through my right eye, everything is slightly blurrier than normal. The contacts are making my eyes feel really itchy, and I've already put Murine contacts refresh and clean eye drops in.

Should I take out my contacts, or leave them in and hope it gets better since my eyes are still adjusting? Thank you for reading my exceptionally long question.

Contact lens feeling weird?

Hi!
Before I used different kinds of contact lenses and they were all too drying for me so i just stopped for like 2 years. I wear them every so often but i can't even go through a box of 30 1 day contacts in 2 years.

Now, i got another brand of contacts but they are extremely hard to take out. After about 10 tries of trying to get it out on each eye, i got them out. But my eyes feel kinda sensitive and not really normal.Is this normal?

Also, I think these new contacts(they're dailies) feels not as drying but its still not very comfortable.It feels like theres something always in my eye.Is this normal too? Would it be because i havent worn contacts enough for my eyes to get used to it?

Okay.So I have a pretty much dormant youtube channel I plan to upload covers to. Now that takes time w/ mixing and all. I also need/want new things like makeup, circle lenses/reg color lenses, some clothing, wigs, etc.because (1) it's nice to have things & (2) I was thinking of putting reviews of such things on YouTube. I was thinking I can start out with the few makeup & clothing items that I have. I know some places online and wherever else will send people items free if they are going to review them. I'm mostly interested with the makeup & lenses. The thing is that I'm 16. Would they be willing to send and let me review if I'm this age? Or would they rather someone a year or two older? I had sex protected and I notice the condom broke two days later, I went to pee and when I wiped I saw something really small on the toilet paper the size of a contact lens 5 days later I got really sick with flu symptoms they went away the next day 2 weeks later I got sick again high fever weak loss of appetite, which has cause me to loose weight i also have watery diarrhea, chills, sweats it went away after a few days I was good then it returned. Im being falsely accused by my parents!

So this morning my mother told me that my dad found his contacts torn and in the sink and they think i did it. This is the second time it has happened and they thought i did it the first time but let it slide. I didn't even touch his contact lenses but i have used his contact solution twice before to get mascara out of my eyes and this is probably the evidence they will try to use against me.Im really scared because my mom told me he is going to be livid at me when he wakes up and whenever he is mad he screams at me and it just destroys me, and i end up feeling worthless and suicidal.i don't care about bring wrongfully accused as much as i do of being verbally abused and becoming a danger to myself. They have already decided i am guilty and i don't know what to do.My mom told i should just come clean and "be honest" but when i was and told her i had nothing to do with she just sneered at me. Why blue eyes are so attractive? I wish I had blue eyes :?

OK I think I'm kind of pretty and I have big almond shaped eyes but they're light brown with some dark green in the bright light or sun. I wish so much they were blue/light green it's so much prettier! But I'm afraid to try lenses because I have a small astigmatism and people say it would make it worse. Plus lenses look fake, I see girls with contact lenses and tattoed eyebrows it's so ugly and looks so fake, they look like they have glass eyes with lenses so I'm not gonna go for that… Why are blue eyes so much prettier? PS: I have seen very attractive people with dark eyes and unattractive people with blue eyes but generally a pretty girl with blue eyes is considered prettier: even models and girls making the list/ considered as ''most beautiful in the World'' and bla bla have light blue eyes: Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, Angelina Jolie, Aishwarya Rai, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly etc… since ancient times… it's so unfair :(

How to get rid of an eye stye quickly?

I pretty much have the worst luck in the world. I used to get very bad styes in my eyes all the time, primarily my right one for some reason. Last year I got an extremely bad looking one the day before I had to take pictures for school. When I woke up this morning, I had the first one in almost a year in my right eye, the upper corner.My luck is even worse this time, though.

I'm going on a date tomorrow.

I know that you can't get rid of a stye completely overnight, but I really need something to visibly reduce the swelling at the very least, so that I can at least wear my contact lenses without issue; I'd prefer not to wear my glasses since I need a new pair (prescription's not strong enough and I see better with contacts), plus they are extremely large and don't exactly help my appearance.

Any tips to get rid of a stye quickly? I know about hot compresses but they have never seemed to help me in the past.

What's it like to have contact lenses?

I've had glasses since I was 11 and now I'm 19 and I want contacts really bad, since I can't get lasik surgery yet. Plus I want to wear sunglasses and I can't do that with regular eyeglasses. Can someone tell me what having contacts is like? Like as far as putting them in and cleaning them and such. Also, how many do you usually get in a box? Or do you have to reuse them after you've cleaned them? Thanks.

Colored contact lens for dark brown eyes?

I want contacts because i wear glasses ocassionally and im thinking about colored ones just to switch it up a bit.i have dark brown eyes and i dont want to change them completely, i just want a subtle change.like something you might not even noticed unless you really looked.maybe just a hint of dark green on the edges of a little bit of a hazel in there, ya know just something nice and not in your face.

so anyone know any brand of contacts that can do that? and where to get them? and if you can suggest with personal experience thatd be greeeeeeeat

What is wrong with my contact lens?

I got contact lenses two days ago and they were working fine until today. They used to be really clear but now they don't let me see clearly and they get blurry. This is my first time having contact lenses.Is this normal because I've never had contact lenses and this is only my second day using them? I only wore them for 6 hours yesterday and then I switched to glasses the rest of the day. Are my eyes just getting used to the contact lenses?

How much can vision improve without any kind of surgery/exercise?

A few months ago, I started eye exercises to improve my vision. I decided that I had done enough research and believed in improving one's eyesight by doing certain exercises and relaxation techniques.

Last week, I went to the optician to gets my eyes checked. Lo and behold, from a RE3.50 LE 5.00 power, my eyesight improved to RE3.00 LE4.25. I confessed to my optician about the exercises - knowing that most in the industry do not believe in it. She did not show any positive emotions - which disappointted me. She simply said it could be that I was haivng a great day, slept early the night before, etc. And, she said the last time I had my eyes checked, which gave me 350 and 500, I was probably having a bad day - studying very hard, sleeping late, squinting before getting checked
In other words, my optician was skeptical. Now, my question to you all is this: how much can the power of the eyes deviate in a day or a period of a few days? My LE decreased by 75 degrees.Is it possible that vision can deviate so much just because a person sleeps early, goes to the beach all day long and then gets his eyes checked? I want to know if the eye exercises have been helping or is it really just relaxation that tricked me?

To add on: When I was prescribed 350 and 500, somehow, my glasses had 300 and 375 lenses.So, please do not think I am lying about the figures.

Is laser operation of eye safe?

I have -5 on right eye and -10 on left eye and in both the eyes i have cylindrical power of -1.50 and -1.75 respectively. I am not comfortable in c.lens. And my spects looks very thick so i feel shy. Has any1 done the laser operation?

Why my eyes don't dilate easily?

Going to my eye's doctor is a nightmare. They have to put different types of drop 2 to 4 times (in between brakes) for my eyes to dilate. I have progressive myopia and some kind of lens displacement on my left eye. Does my eyes problem affect how fast they dilate?
