Is it alright to wear contact lenses that have been soaking in solution for nearly a year?

I'm going out for my birthday tonight and I'd rather be glasses-free. The last time I've worn my contact lenses was nearly a year ago at prom. I'd only worn them maybe three times before that as well. They're the ones you can use 30 times before disposing of them but I'm wondering if being soaked in their solution for so long could've damaged them or something? Please Help!

How come people who wear my glasses say it s not different?

I just got prescription glasses for my near-sighted vision. So obviously, all far things are blurry until I put them on then whoosh it s all HD. But everyone who has tried on my glasses say that it makes no difference whatsoever. If anything it s sharper than normal.

This is odd to me because normally when you try on someone else s glasses it s blurry as hell. So why not me?

Thanks.

My contacts are really bothering my eyes but I haven't worn glasses in public for years?

I'm a college senior and my prescription is really high. It's something like -9.5. I have the thin lenses but my glasses still look ridiculous and I don't want to be seen wearing them. What can I do? I've been advised to stop using contacts for 2 weeks at least. Is there a place where I can buy much thinner glasses?

Is my eyesight improving?

Wishful thinking I think but yeah. I'm short sighted and am supposed to wear glasses but never do unless I'm driving. My vision isn't awful but it's definitely not great as I often have to squint when watching tv or reading. I was told by a friend who used to be an optician is that you shouldn't wear visual aids too much as your eyes begin to rely on them and become lazy.

So I rarely wear my glasses and on my last trip to the opticians they said my eyesight had slightly improved. However, in the past few weeks I've noticed that every now and then (usually maybe once or twice a day) my vision will completely clear as if I have my glasses on when I don't. But upon blinking my vision will revert back. Any ideas why this is happening?

Can I drive? More information given below?

Hi,
I am only 16, but soon I will be 17and I am hoping to drive. However I have a few problems. Firstly, I am monocular sighted, which is where I can only see clearly through one eye. The left one is clear and my right one is blurred. As well as this, I have a nystagmus in my right eye.

Furthermore, I estimated 20.5 meters (63 feet) and tried looking at a number plate without my glasses, which sadly I failed to see. But, I have not yet tried it with my glasses.

Below is the prescription for my left and right eye lens:

Left eye:
Sph- +0.25
Cyl- -0.75
Axis- 1.0
+1.25 Add

Right eye:
Just says balance on the prescription

Can i still wear my contacts if I replace the case after 3 months?

I usually don't wear contacts. These dont have a prescription(they're 0.00) since it's mainly for cosplay, and also the reason why I dont use them often. Actually, out of the three contacts that I got, I've only used one of them that came in later December for about 4 hours, then proceeded to put it back in the case which I cleaned with solution and refilled it with new solution. The other two lenses I only put them in the case with the solution after I got them. Around January, I just cleaned the cases and the lenses with solution by softly rubbing(yes I looked up the precautions as to how I should clean it… Although I didn't wait until it was completely dried… But it was mostly dry).
I also know that the case should be replaced about every three months. But here I am, approaching month 4 and I am yet to change the case for every one. I just want to know if I can still wear these contacts, of course, after I change the case. These are yearly, but I really don't want to risk getting an eye infection and possibly having vision loss. Will the contacts be ruined if I don't change the case soon? Is it already too late? Or can I always just take the lenses out of my old case, clean it, and put it in a new case with no harm done?

What are those glasses things people wear on their eyes?

So here is my story, I apologise to anyone if I sound ignorant here but I haven't been exposed to a multi cultural society so I am unaware of many things. I am from a smallish town/village in Australia, where isn't many multiculturalism. It's got a fair amount of people. But anyway, I always had a plan to explore and travel the world. I've been to Melbourne and Sydney few times growing up. As I'm 17 years old currently, I decided to travel to some European cities with some of my local villagers, to cities like Paris London and Rome. To my shock, I saw so many people have this plastic thing around their head, with two transparent glass covering their eyes. It was like sunglasses, which I am familiar with, but it had see-through lenses. I mean, I had never ever really seen people wearing those. In London and Rome, I remember every 1 in 2 or 3 people had those things on their eyes. I had never ever seen people wear those here over in my local town or know any famous celebrities with those things on. I mean, I remember 1 or 2 Middle eastern immigrants used to wear those but back then I used to think they were a cultural/religious thing like covering hair is for Muslim women. I asked one of the people I was with, why people were wearing those things so often and he suggested it treats eye infections. I seriously have hard time believing so many people have eye infections in Europe. So my question is, what are those things people wear? How come I've never seen those here?

One eye weaker than the other?

I have been wearing glasses for two years now and I went for an eye test today. I wear glasses for short sightedness and when I first got them I was told to not wear them all the time so I didnt. I started to get lazy and I wore them even when I could see okay, not perfect but I could see alright without them and I wore them all the time. Fast forward to today: My left eye is far weaker than the other and I have to get a different lens. The lens will be weakened but I m slightly worried that it might be difficult to get used to a stronger lens for my left eye. Any tips?

Looking for info about an old sci-fi tv show?

Sometime in the 80s, maybe early 90s, I saw part of an episode of a sci fi show, and for years I've tried to find out what it was. All I remember is that it was set on a ship or space station, and the crew were visited by aliens. I have the feeling this was a regular thing and it may have been some sort of diplomatic event. The aliens in this instance looked human, they wore black leather or vinyl or something similar, they had hair like Alice Cooper, and they wore sunglasses with three lenses. When they took the glasses off, it was revealed they had a third eye, which they could use to paralyse a person. They first used it on, I think, the chief of security (who I think may have been a jackass, so it was funny), and they stole his watch.
At the end, they tried to use it on the captain, but he ducked and the aliens froze themselves.

I've looked at lists of sci fi shows from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, I can't find it. Maybe it was a one off as part of something else? I don't know. Any ideas?

Laser eye surgery limits in UK?

I am long sighted with a prescription of, left sph +4.25 cyl +0.75 right sph + 3.50 cyl +0.25. I went to optical express a couple of years ago and was told they couldn t do anything for me either laser wise or lens implant. My left eye prescription was beyond the laser thresholds and I couldn t get a lens implant because my cornea was to thin, I needed a space of 2mm and I only had a gap of 1.8mm.
I now want to know if the thresholds have increased allowing me to have laser surgery or not? Or is there another option other than contacts or glasses that I haven t thought of?

Where can I buy color contacts? - 1

I'm planning to buy prescription color contacts someday but I would buy them at my eye clinic but they're too expensive there. Air optix and freshlook color blends are the only brands that I can afford but those brands aren't available at the eye clinic. If y'all bought prescription color contacts before then what did y'all do so that y'all could get prescription color contacts, the ones that are affordable? And thanks for the info.

How bad is my eyesight? - 1

Hey, I'm 15.In school, I usually sit in the middle or toward the front and I don't have a problem seeing the words on the board. However, in a few of my classes I have to sit at the second last row I find it difficult to read the board. The words look blurry to my eyes for some reason and like foggy and hard to read. So I usually end up squint because it makes the words clearer or copying a friends notes. The other day I couldn't see from the back and my friend lent me her glasses. I didn't like wear them like put them right in front of my eyes but like a few inches from my eyes and the words appeared clearer and easier to see through the lenses. It felt weird though because it looked like everything was magnified. How bad is my eyesight? I really don't want to get glasses or contacts. Is there anyway to improve it and will my eyesight get worse? I have always had perfect eyesight.
