Red stuff in my eye (right)?

While trying to take my contact lens off tonight, I noticed that there's this red string/cotton looking thing floating in the corner of my right eye. I tried to roll my eyes and take the thing out by hand but couldn't… And there's no pain at all? Is this some kind of infection?

Can we focus infinitely on distant objects?

I was just wondering, is it, theoretically of course, possible to zoom in and see let s say an atom that s 13.8 billion km away?
