How old do you have to be to wear contact lens?

i'm 15 and i used to only wear glasses during class to see the board or while driving, but the eye doctor said i have to wear it all the time now. The frames irritate me so much. Am i old enough to wear prescription contacts?

I am buying contact lenses that look natural for dark black eyes and I am indecisive about which color should I choose. Green and grey are pretty nice but I want my eyes to look natural and showy. I have olive tan skin biracial Halley Berry looks.

LensCrafters - want to buy only the frames?

If I walk into LensCrafters and say that I only want to purchase these frames (no exam, no lens at the moment), can I do that? Will they only charge me tax and the listed $139 price? I'm not sure what kind of lenses I want in them yet (since there are all kinds of different lenses I guess) and I'm also not sure if I want the lenses put in by LensCrafters or my local optometrist.

I think I will end up wanting top quality lenses though, since I tried these on in the store and really liked the way they looked.

Also, … Is that a good idea? To buy them without a prescription, wear the glasses around with my contacts in to see how much I like them, and then decide later on the quality of lenses I want (based on how often I plan on wearing them).

Ok so last year in august i got a new pair of glasses they have transition lenses (i love my transitions) so they got scratched badly and my frame broke in half (everything is plastic the frame and the lenses) so can i replace this with health insurance? Double aspherical 1.74 lens thinning Vs Glass 1.9 lens thinning?

I have a prescription of sph-10D

At the moment my glasses do distort my eyes quite a bit, and I was looking for a way to reduce this.
As far as I understand, increasing the refractive index of the material just thins the lens and doesn't actually reduce distortion (because the power is the same).

However, apparently the new double (versus single), aspherical 1.74 lenses reduce the distortion, and hence although they will be slightly thicker than the 1.9 glass lens, will not make my eyes look as small?

Is this true?
Can someone explain this to me, and help advise me on which lenses to pick.

New glasses only sharp everywhere else but centre of lens?

I just got a new glasses to replace my old one. This new one got some problem.

1. It only looks clear and sharp on the top and bottom area. When I keep my head level, it is not clear. I have to view through the top (near the top frame) for it to look clear.

2. When looking thru the glasses with my head level, it looks like there is double-vision, or ghosting. Even when covering one eye.

Severe tension headache, how to get rid of it?

I've been suffering from a severe tension headache for over12 hours. It's right behind my eye and the back of my head. Excedrin. And ibuprofen aren't working. Recently just started vomiting. Took my contact lenses out. Is there anyway to get rid of this?

Is my prescription strong?

As far back as I can remember Ive seen double images. I don't have any blurring, just distortion by double, sometimes triple vision. I've known for a while that I've had astigmatism, and finally went to the eye doctor to get prescription eyeglasses. I had them do an extensive eye exam to rule out any disease or eye damage, all checked out healthy.

My prescription came back as follows
OD: sphere -0.25, cylinder -2.25, axis 9
OS: sphere -0.25, cylinder -2.50, axis 170

The doctor said it was a pretty strong prescription with a lot of astigmatism especially for my first pair of correctional lenses.

I'm just trying to adjust which has been quite tough on my brain! Haha

Please elaborate on my eye prescription?

I'm hoping to serve in the Royal Navy by applying next month for aircrew. However, I have short-sightedness which is easily corrected with contact lenses. I was researching the requirements, and all I could find was a brief overview of the eyesigt requirements:
"The minimum standards for both uncorrected and corrected vision are determined by service medical staff and are dependent on the proposed employment and branch/trade group. Spectacle or contact lens correction must not be greater than - 6 dioptres or + 6 dioptres in any meridian. Impaired colour perception (colour blindness) is not a bar to service, but may limit your career choices. You will need to have a copy with you of any acuity prescription from your optician when you go for your medical examination." - Quoted from the Royal Navy application form.
Here's my prescription of my eyes which, and this is IMPORTANT, corrected vision with contact lenses.
From what I gather, it says corrcted is -3/-4, which isn't greater than the -6 minimum set by the Navy, right?

I left my colored lens without solution for one week, it shrink and became hard and dry. I then soaked it in the solution and it when back to normal. But can I still wear it? Will it hurt or damage my eyes?

I'm making my own character cosplay?

I'm making my own girl from a story that i'm writing and I don't know which outfit I should do.
She has long pink hair with bloody red eyes and has a samurai sword as her weapon. She wears a white dress with a black corset in the middle. It's a short dress that goes above the knee (or is a mini dress). She wears ripped up leggings and the ends of her dress are as well (as if she came out of a battle). She also has blood stained on her dress…
If I were to get the second dress, I would customize it to my own liking. The first dress is like $50 so I might now get it and add my own type of cape thing if I wish to. I would also customize the third dress to my liking as well…
The corset I would want to be an underbust, just so something's in the middle of the dress and not for corset reasons.
I have no idea how to make the blood stain without it looking dull, nor do I know wear to get good red contact lens… Please help me!

Should I bring CRT lenses to summer camp?

I just recently got CRT lenses, which are contact lenses that you wear during the night and then don't have to wear during the day. I'm going to be going to an overnight camp for a week, and there might not be access to clean water to wash my hands with every day.

Should I bring my contact lenses (and risk losing them or putting in dirty contacts) or just not wear them for a week? I can't wear glasses, because the CRT lenses change your prescription and my prescription doesn't match my glasses anymore.

(I'm sorry if this question sounds extremely stupid, I'm just worried because the contact lenses were very expensive.)

Are some people just meant to be ugly?

I'm one of those girls that have never been naturally pretty. I've always been bullied for me looks- people would walk by me and laugh or they'd say things sarcastically like: there's your girlfriend etc. I have gotten comments about my weight frequently (I was a little over weight) until I sorted that out recently. One of the main comments I've had is being called an ape/ gorilla. This is honestly starting to really affect me. I asked one of my friends what I should do to improve my appearance. Thwy told me to wear make up/ wax my eyebrows and things like that. I took the advice and things have just gotten worse. I went to a salon to get my eyebrows waxed, she did the first one and then went on to the second one. I heard her say "oops" and when she had finished it looked worse than when I had went in. I'd of asked to see them before but I literally had zero confidence at this point. When I saw them at the end I cried because they really were bad. To my dismay all she said was "well you couldn't have looked any worse than when you came in anyway" (as if I didn't already know I looked bad) I was told just to cover them with eyeshadow but unfortunately due to my poor uncorrectable eyesight it really isn't an option. I cover half my eye lid in eyeliner when I attempt that.

I'm literally the worst example of a girl ever and it's made worse by having a literally perfect twin brother.

Am I just destined to be this unattractive 19 year old girl? Because right now it feels like it

Practicing for Contact Lenses?

I know I have asked a similar question before, but I want to get contact lenses though I'm frightened by the risks of eye problems should I forget or neglect them. I want to practice and prepare myself for them and all the care involved somehow before getting them so I'll remember everything I have to remember for when I get them. Because I have amblyopia I'm thinking about only wearing one in that eye at the time if my optometrist agrees, though I still want to prepare myself so I'll take good care of it and avoid problems. Any suggestions?

Will I ever get used to contacts? - 1

I wear acuvue oayses with hydro clear plus contact lenses and they annoy the hell out of me. They make me feel tired and I sometimes feel like something's in my eye. They cloud up and get blurry if I don't blink every 5 seconds, mainly my right eye but sometimes it bothers my left eye too. I told my eyedoctor that the right lense feels loose but the left one is fine and he checked and to see if they fit and they do and has checked the prrecription as well. I have been wearing them for 6 weeks now, they have improved some but still annoy me. What can I do?

i was going to wear them today but i noticed 2 weird things:

1. When i opened the case i soak my lenses in all the solution was gone. Where did it go to i know to keep them always moist.did it evaporate?!

2. The right contact was hard ( i have soft contacts ) but it seems to be going back to soft after rubbing it with solution for awhile.

they are yearly contacts but i was planning to buy more every month or so.

What do these abbreviations stand for?

Also does it make a big difference if these numbers differ slightly. For example, my current prescription says my BC is 8.6 and my DIA is 14.2. The contacts that I would like to buy only come in a BC of 8.7 and a DIA of 14.0.

What nearsighted strength lens do i need?

i got my eyes checked a long time ago. My family has been very poor and cant afford to get my eyes checked any time soon. I got up enough money to buy some glasses I found online for nearsightedness but I have to choose from -1 to -5. How am I supposed to know which one will work for me? My eyes aren't just bad. They got this way in 7th grade from way to much staring at a computer screen up close. Im in 12th grade now. My glasses broke a week ago and I only have enough to get glasses. We cant afford eye test. How do I choose a lens strength? I can see maybe 5 feet away but then, things just get blurry.

Contact Lenses in a two day trip?

I'm going to a two day trip to the country side… I mean we're gonna stay for probably two nights by a lake and fish and barbecue and stuff… I wear contacts everyday and I'm going to do so in the trip, all I'm asking is whether to take out my contacts each night or just wear them to sleep and use eye drops? I just feel a little uncomfortable to wash my hands and take out my contacts in that place since there's only mineral water. I've never slept with my contacts on through night but I've had naps with them and I didn't feel uncomfortable. I use seasonal soft contacts.

Contact lens keep folding in my eye when I put them in?

I'm fairly new to contact lenses. Anyways, only my left contact lens always folds when I put it in my eye! Like it goes into my eye, but the lens folds and I have to take it out again! It takes so long to put it in! I'm doing the correct way of stretching the eye out like the optometrist told me to. I have no problem with my right eye lens!

This problem started recently with my left lens, I don't even know why! It was fine before!

Can you get rid of these?

Cellulite and under eye circles? I'm overweight but am currently watching what I eat an exercising. When I get rid of my execces fat, will the cellulite go away too? And I have really dark underage circles caused from years if stress. I don't want to cover them up with makeup, but is there any product or a way that gets rid of them? I wear glasses but I'm switching to contact lenses soon and the glasses hide the circles and I've very insecure about them bc my dad has pointed them out to me numerous times:(

Why do all contacts seem to bother my eyes?

I wish I could wear contacts and not be uncomfortable but ever since I started wearing them I can't remember trying a kind that didn't bother my eyes. Some days can be okay with contacts, but a lot of days they can get really annoying. By "they bother me" I mean they'll get dry and hurt or just feel really uncomfortable, and I've tried different kinds of eye drops to re-wet my eyes etc. (blinc drops, my contact solution, re-nu drops, etc.) but I would just be constantly putting eye drops in and they wouldn't work. I also tried making my contacts extra wet with solution before I put them on. Apparently daily contacts are the best if contacts bother you but I've tried daily acuvue oasys contacts and daily ciba vision contacts and both of those bother me. And I don't think I have a dry eye problem or anything, I haven't had anything wrong with my eyes diagnosed except nearsightedness. I don't get why I can't find contacts that work well for me?
Added (1). I don't wear them for super long (they can start to get uncomfortable after only like 3 hours) or re-use them after one day or sleep in them.

Is wearing thick glasses the current trend (for guys in particular)?

I think it's funny how when I was growing up (I'm 24 years old now, I was born in 1989), wearing glasses was considered unfashionable and wearing contact lens was the cool thing to do. That's when I was really young. But now I'm a college student and based on what I have seen and observed lately, it seems like wearing glasses is becoming more trendy. I noticed that more people (both guys and females) wear glasses nowadays. It seems to me that thick glasses, in particular, have soared in popularity. So is it the latest trend? I don't think that wearing glasses is uncool or unfashionable at all, I actually think that some guys look good with thick glasses. It's so popular right now that I'm thinking about ditching my contact lenses and getting a pair of thick glasses. Do contact lenses get dirty easier than glasses do?

I have been doing research on contacts to find the benefits and disadvantages of wearing them compared to wearing glasses. So far, I have found out that contacts have to be cleaned with the solution very often, meaning that they might get dirty easily. However, I have also found that contacts do not get dirty the same way glasses do, such as rainwater and fog. I have worn glasses all my life and have found that they get dirty very often for no reason. I have been looking forward to contacts to help me fix this problem, but I am not really sure if it does. There are chances that contacts might not get so dirty easily, and yet they have to be cleaned with the solution most of the time. Do contacts get dirty easier than glasses? Will contacts help me fix my problem of glasses getting dirty easily?

I would like to get contact lenses and know my prescription, however, I cannot afford contacts AND the hefty every year eye exam that most contact lense vendors require. Going to water park with normal contact lenses?

I usually wear glasses, I have right eye -5 and left -4.5
But I also have lenses, like few weeks old, but I have only worn them once, because I started to like my glasses and started to wear glasses:)
Now I'm going to a trip with my family and also to a water park. Usually when I go to water park, I take my glasses / lenses off and it is really uncomforatble when everything is blurry.
Now I'm thinking to wear contact lenses to a water park, which will be only a few hours. And I'd take them off after that, as soon as I can (they get stuck in eyes when water on them lol) And probably won't wear them after that again.
Will that ONE TIME do anything bad? Or is it a bad idea to wear them? I could wear those water glasses on lenses also? But those waterglasses are really uncomfortable and look stupid + I'd have to go buy them:l

I worked for SAMS optical as the manager. I gave a pair of trial contacts to a patient that had a current prescription. I checked the patients previous orders and printed out the latest order. I gave the patient the prescribed lenses, but her doctor had the powers opposite of what she was wearing. I left the old order form and the new prescription in the doctors office. My district manager found the old copy of the order and accused me of filling an expired prescription, which I told her was not expired. She asked me where was the original and I went to look for it, but it wasn't there. She smirked at me and told me that there was no prescription and that I had did an exam on the patient and that she had it on store tape. I asked her to show it to me, she couldn't show it to me because it didn't happen. I was fired 1 August 2013. I tried filing for unemployment but they fought that and said I was fired for gross misconduct. I had no way of getting in touch with the patient. I filed a complaint with wal-mart corporate to investigate that the patient was given a free eye exam at another Sams club. They told me that no such thing happened. Three weeks ago I happened to run into the patient at a festival and she asked where I had been and I explained that I was fired for helping her. She told me that Sams did pay for her exam and even gave her free contacts, but they never told her why or asked what happened. She is very upset and said she will testify to what truly happened.

Is my lens stuck in my eye?

Yesterday i wore contacts in morning and in the afternoon while removing it the lens in my right eye was not coming out i practically tried to remove it by re wetting drops massaging the eyelids but the lens was not there. When i wear specs my vision gets corrected by it. I even tried touching my cornea it itches a bit and i don't have a foreign object like feeling in my both eyes. Is the lens still stuck in my eye or is it possible that the lens may be stuck in the eye and i don't feel it? I am worriedthat if the lens stays in my eye it will damage it.

WHY DID MY DOG DO THIS?

I went into my garage to do something and I came back inside after and my dog usually barks until he sees that it's me, but today I walked inside and he barked like he usually does and I bend down to pick him up like I usually do but he freaks out and barks like mad and growls. The light was on so he could see me. He is a small chihuahua and his bites don't hurt. I literally grab him and hold him to my chest and he barks even more for a few seconds and then stops. Then he buries his head into my shoulder and whines. I checked his body for injury and found none. He is completely back to normal except he isn't leaving my side. Right now I have my laptop on my bed and he is lying on my back. Why did he have that panic attack? I brought him on a walk straight after to cool down, well, I was the one who needed to cool down. I have been with him EVERY day since he was 3 wks old! He is now 10 MO and how could this happen? I was wearing FX contact lenses and I'm thinking that is what scared him but I'm so freaked out about this. IDK what to do!

Can I wear night corrective lenses for special forces selection?

I want to join the counter terrorism team in HKPF, and there is a 4 day pre selection program and then a 5 weeks of basic training followed by a 7 day advanced selection and then 5 month counter terrorism training and then 3 month combat diving training.
On the recruitment advertisement, it says that officers of any rank under Superintendent can apply, and contact lenses are acceptable for selection. If I wear the night lenses, will I be able to last the 4 days and 7 days for selection with my eyesight remaining at close to perfect?
How long do corrective night lenses last?

Are there any SWAT officers or SF people who wear corrective lenses, night lenses or glasses, can you please tell me if it affected your performance in selection, and how long were the lenses good for?

By the way, selection involves getting punched repeatedly for 10 seconds in the face and stomach, so my eyes be affected?

Can I still wear my soft contact lenses?

They're the 2 week wear kind, and I got them last year. I only wore them about 4 times during the year for special events. Occasionally, like every few months I changed the solution they sat in. They seem fine to me, except there's one or two little black specks of what looks like dirt on them. I don't know what they are, but I gently tried to rub them off but they wouldn't. Is that a bad sign?

It was yesterday when I went and I felt fine and fell asleep, and then I took them out this morning and saw that the veins in the white part of my eyes were pretty irritated, although at the time of typing this they seem to have died down just a little bit.

I just wanna make sure that it's not a mistake to be putting the same pair of contacts back in or not due to the chlorine in the pool that may ruin them or micro-insects I heard. And if cleaning them in the solution would make them perfectly fine, thanks!

Problem with eyes and contacts Help?!

For quite sometime I have been having issues with my eyes. The doctor said that it was from wearing my contacts too much. He told me to stop wearing my contacts for a month and then try not to wear them more than a few hours a day. I did this and my eyes are not much better. They feel dry and irritated as soon as my contacts are in my eyes. The vision in my right eye is blurry and sort of goes in and out of focus. The doctor says my prescription is fine. I make sure i change the contacts out every two weeks and clean them well. I have tried a few different brands Acuvue 2 and Oasis and now Ciba Vision. The strange thing is… Even with glasses my eyes feel some what blurry at times. Mostly in the right eye and sometimes i get eyes pain. Anyone else experience this?
