Do I need to buy eye lens cleaners to wash my contacts when using for the first time?

I just got a new set of color contacts my FIRST time buying, but I see in youtube videos people usually RINSE them with a cleaning/lubricating solution first? is that right?

So I purchased some coloured contact lenses today & they just won't stick to my eyes, I tried on my right eye so many times & it just wouldn't suck on my eye & off my finger. Any suggests?

Plus they are dailies so is it okay to wear straight away or do I let them soak a while ?

It seems so many people around me are more often than not happy. Their moods are consistently good, they do not question their love for more money and more things (and indeed appear to define success and get real lasting self-esteem from this very act of accrual), sports, cars, beauty, technology, celebrity culture, Facebook etc., and to top it off, often times are just blissfully unaware of their own stinking entitlement.

Is it just pathetically, painfully true that Americans get their self-esteem by comparing themselves to others with "less"? And furthermore, should I just give up and conform and be a narcissist like everyone else (e.g.competing, back-stabbing, greedy, paranoid, disconnected, obsessed), or continue to suffer more by psychologically fighting the very system I've been conditioned to squeeze self-esteem from? Is it even possible for someone with eyes open to be emotionally healthy here?

So someone in the cyber-verse please help me.Is my cynicism about modern American culture true or am I distorting things (e.g.looking at things through a depressive "lens," being a victim complainer, being resentful). I do recognize the strengths of America, cutting edge medical technology (for the rich and the insured anyways), the civil rights movement, etc. But there seems to be a horrible spiritual void here, manifested by being inauthentic, fueled by lack of self-awareness.

Is it ok to use coloured contact lense that arent prescribed?

I do use daily contact lenses on a daily basis to see the clear ones from my opticians,
but i have ordered some one day contact lenses from freshlook online,
with the correct prescription and everything like the base curve,
but apparently if they don't fit properly it can affect you or something, but its the correct measurements and everything?
is it ok if i wear them like a one off like once every two or three weeks?

Is it illegal to give away eye contacts that you don't use?

I have i few boxes of un-opened Acuvue Advance contacts that are too weak for my eyes.My strength has changed and didn't use all of my last ones before it changed. I know its a prescription, but would this fall under the typical controlled substances laws since you really can't get high off contacts or ulter your mind? Really not sure if there are any rules/regulations on this and i'd rather not throw them away since they are expensive and i'm sure someone could get use of them.

So, yesterday I got daily contact lenses, and today I have a football match at noon and a party tonight. First time with contact lenses. I see wonderfully but they are still a bit annoying… anyway I smoke about 10 cigarettes a day, but I'm gonna use these single use lenses only when I play sports or have a party or a date… Can I smoke in these days even if I have the lenses on without causing any problem to my eyes? OPTOMETRISTS AND OPTICIANS would you ever prescribe contacts for this prescription?

To my knowledge, I have a weak prescription and my astigmatism reading isn't actually available as it is too weak. But is there any way contacts could be administered if I was desperate? By this, I mean would it be possible to prescribe -0.75 astigmatism in addition to my normal prescription just to get lenses (provided it was still clear), or just make the prescription +1 for farsightedness?

I bought my contact lenses 3 months ago and i've been having problems with the right lenses since last week.It won't stay in place :(. Sometimes, I only wear my left lense.lol.

It is only at a distance, and is annoying. I can't even look at the teacher during class. I get a head ache. I told my mom about it and she brought me to the eye doctors. They gave me a correction lens that would change the focal point of my eyes. But that help a little. I am afraid to tell my mom. What is causing this?

Okay so basically I am a 15 year old female with pretty rubbish vision. I had really good vision until I was 13 or 14. I was always able to see everything and never needed glasses. Suddenly my eyesight went 5 lenses worse in my right eye and 3 lenses worse in my left so I needed glasses. Now, a year on, my eyes have gone another lense worse in both eyes so I'm 1.0 in my left eye and 1.75 in my right eye and I am so dependant on my glasses. Without them I feel blind and cant even see the board at school when I'm sitting at the back. Why is this happening? :'( Is there anything I can do to help my sight stop getting worse?

I was also told my vision wont stop getting worse till I'm 21, what do you reckon my numbers will be by then?

Well I went for an assessment to get contact lenses (I have glasses) and they said that trial ones will arrive at the store for me to pick up. I also have to make an appointment with someone for them to teach me how to put them in. My contact lenses are hurting my eyes?

I wear Ciba Soft Focus contact lenses in Evergreen. I wear them purely for cosmetic purposes (I have 20/20 vision) But my eye doctor said that this particular brand of color enhancing lenses have a minimum prescription in them of -.50 and that you can't get them without prescription. He went ahead and ordered them for me, but I notice the prescription, though it's slight. After a while my head and eyes kind of throb a little and my vision will get a little blurry.Is this normal? My eye doctor said it was okay to get them with the -.50 prescription and that it won't affect me… but I'm starting to think otherwise. (The guy was kind of a nut, to be honest… )

How high do soft contact lenses go up to?

I'm 47 and every year my vision goes up a bit; just went for my check up and it went up again; I was a -6:00 in my left and a -7.50 in my right, my left went up to -7.00 and my right went up to -8.00. I feel at this rate they'll have no more soft lenses left for me. I. Asked my doctor and he said don't worry but I am worried, I don't want to end up in hard lenses. Also is it normal to always go up every yr? Could you end up with issues with your vision because it just goes up, it doesn't seem normal to go from a -6.00 to a -7.00. I am not yet in readers and have a lazy left eye.My doctor just said its myopia.

Would colored contacts look better if you have really light brown eyes?

I've always wanted to change my eye color using contact lenses but when i see most people do it that normally have dark brown eyes it comes out looking ridiculous and creepy, but what it show as much if your eyes were lighter? lets say if i got hazel or dark green contacts and my eyes were a brownish yellow would it have the same effect or would it actually change the color of my eye to look naturally green?

Small red dot when I wear my glasses?

I am a contact lens wearer, but recent issues with one of my eyes have led me to have to wear my glasses. When I do, I have noticed (and I have noticed this in the past as well), that both of my eyes get a small red dot on the inner part of the white part of my eye. I currently have monthlies and am considering dailies. The problem is that both of my eyes different vision, I have an astigmatism in my left eye. On my contact lense boxes it reads (on the one for the right eye) -1.75 and below that it reads 8.4 and for my left: it reads -1.75 and below that it reads -0.75 150.So I'm not quite sure how this is read but that's what it says. Would I be able to get dailies?

I'm a serious hypochondriac and i've been stressing myself out lately about my eye health. I went to lens crafters a couple months ago and did a eye exam and did the optomap retinal photos. Could my contact lens be in my eye?

This morning I tried to put my contact lens in, first time it got stuck to my figure but I thought it went in the second time. Yet, on my way to college I noticed my eyesight was a bit blurry so I covered each eye in turn and my left eye was completely blurred vision. I then started to panic thinking it was at the back of my eye.So I looked in a mirror and checked, shut my eyes and rolled them around and felt in the corners but I could feel or see the lens.

Later on I had two friends have a look, they held my eye fully open, then told me to look down etc and both said they couldn't see anything.
My eye isn't painful or red and it isn't watering.

Could the contact lens still be in my eye? Or has it just fallen out somewhere?

Halloween Devil/Suit Costume what color eyes, etc?

Hi, so I'm planning on being a devil in a suit for halloween. I know im doing a black suit, red dress shirt, and black tie. Contacts lenses advice.?

Hey so, at the opticians i go you can have either daily or monthly lenses. I used to get dailies, and recently moved to monthlys but I CANNOT GET THEM IN-I JUST CAN'T! I clean them loads, I wash my hands, I get no fibres or dust or mascara in my eyes, I check their shaped evry thing but they hurt and sting and I end up wearing glasses. Today though, i found an old pair of dailies and slipped them in first go, fine. But dailies are slightly more expensive, by like 5 or something. And iv'e had monthlys for 2 months and nearly everyday i go to college with them sore or just with glasses. I've practised and it just doesn't work.So … it's definately worth getting dailies again, right? I have two months worth of monthlys left, so i'll attempt to use those before i switch.do you have any tips to help me get them in right? You do think i should go to dailies?

My -8 lenses are being changed to -9 lenses. Is that terrible?

I mixed up my contact lenses? HELP! - 1

Ok so I was putting my contact lenses back in the case on my bathroom counter (at night). Both of them were in the case in the right solution and I swung my arm out and THWACK! The case and solution in it went flying.So I looked on the floor and found both of them. The right side if the case was pointing to the garbage can, so i thought that was the right one, and I found the left.

I think I mixed them up. I have a stigmatism in my right eye, so they're both different lenses.
How can I figure out which is which?

My parents are literally refusing to get me any type of solution for my contacts. I found one at our house (my dad wears contacts but never takes them out), and it says "saline solution". On the back, the instructions say "after cleaning, use product to rinse soft contacts throughly".Is this safe to keep my contacts in overnight?

I wear glasses in school and at my house and i HATE them. I look like a nerd.My vision is pretty bad too. I played basketball without my glasses or any contact lenses and I did okay. Now im in high school, and i think my vision is becoming worse. For example, today in gym me and my friends were playing football and I dropped a few passes. When I look at someone from a far distance, there face is blurry to me. I can see their body and I know who they are, but I cant see their face. What happens if in basketball, my coach or a teammate is giving me a signal with their fingers or by using a facial expression, then what do i do??? Can someone please give me a suggestion? My vision has got worse?

I'm 15 years old. I have never had any eye sight problems till now.At my school everyone got their eyes checked with a simple eye test/exam. I couldn't read the smallest letters from a distance, that i could a year a go. I was a bit scarred because i knew my results will not be positive and they were not.My schools nurse gave me a diagnose: OS: 0, 7 OD: 0, 5. She told me to go and meet an eye doctor and eat blueberries. Then she asked me, if i use computer everyday. I understood that the eye damage is probably because of using computer everyday and not resting my eyes. I informed my mother about it and she told me, that she'll take me to a doctor if i want it and have problems at school and elsewhere. I thought about it.My vision isn't that bad, that i can't see basic things, people at a distance, see blackboard at school, read and have a normal life. The thing that scares me is that i have problems reading letters from a pretty long distance, see little details like little leaves, waterdrops. Many things.i see them but they are a bit blurry, I also have problems seeing in a bad light, it's worse then, than it is in a bright day. The thing is that i want to make a change. I want to get my sight back as it was.i have read that my diagnose isn't that bad… i just want to see all the little, beautiful details i could a about a year ago. I just don't want to believe that the only way for my vision to be better, is to wear glasses/lenses or have surgery. Please help, Any help will mean a lot to me.

RGP contacts or soft lenses?

I'm using Acuvue oasys soft contacts right now, they're bi-weekly ones. But I keep dropping them on the carpet and I had to throw them away after only wearing it for 1 day.It's a waste of money… and I now have odd numbers of contacts left, they're not in pairs anymore.
And soft lenses sometimes makes my vision blurry, I think it's because I have dry eyes. I have to put some eyedrops in from time to time.It's so annoying!
So I want to try RGP lenses, cuz I heard they give better vision. Should I ask my eye doctor for them now? Or should I wait until I use up all of my soft lenses? (18 lenses left)

What does OD and OS mean?

I am looking to buy a pair of coloured contact lenses for Halloween. But I don't understand what this OD and OS thing means, when I go to buy them. What does it mean and how do I know what number to choose?

Why do my circle lenses burn my eyes?

I know how to properly care for my circle lenses and I clean them every day. But whenever I put them on my right eye starts to burn.My mom says its because my eyes are dry and I only need some visine eye drops but I'm not sure if that will help.

Look at her eyes! Is that her natural eye color? I always hear that she has a pair of violet eyes but I always thought it was just a rumor or perhaps she likes to wear violet-colored contact lenses. I never actually believe it coz I never think that violet eye color truly exists.Do you think the violet/purple color of her eyes in that pic is real? Or do you think she wore contact lenses? Speaking of which, do you think violet eye color truly exists? I'm not talking about violet as in due to light refraction or a variant of blue, but a real solid violet/purple color. I would love to be a model when I'm older but.?

I'm a 13-year-old girl and I would love to be a model when I grow up, but I have several problems:
- I am a UK size 10, I'm not sure I could fit into an 8 because of my height
- I am 5 ft 8 inches, am I too tall?
- Although I have a very skinny waist, I suppose my stomach and legs really aren't great
- I have to wear glasses but I wear contact lenses instead
- I don't think I'm pretty enough?
- And finally, I wouldn't have a clue where to start when it comes to getting into the business.

Why does it take more than one time to make my eye glasses right?

I went to the eye doctor to get new glasses because the ones I have been wearing are 4 years old and scratched and even though the distance seemed good the bi-focal had weakened slightly.
I was told my left eye has improved and the right was the same and the bi-focal needed a bump up.

I go to pick up the new glasses and my vision was blurred and could not read from the bi-focal.It was as if I had someone Else glasses on my face.
The Tech said I had to get use to them. 2 weeks later my distance maybe better and no good from the bi-focal.
I went 2 weeks ago and picked up the new glasses and today I still can read no better than with the first pair. They ask me if I have medical issues and the like. The bottom line I see much better out of the old glasses and can see out of the bi-focal. Looking through the new glasses it is as if the print seems a bit smaller than it is if I take the glasses off my face.any ideas for me besides going back to the old glasses would help. They did tell me I have to get use to these glasses to not wear the old ones and I have not. The lens is made of the same material as the old ones and the same place made the old ones. Help!!!

How important is a .25 (astigmatism) contact lens prescription?

My brother got a lens prescription with only one eye showing some astigmatism: Cylinder -0.25 (Axis 85)

Since the lowest increment with prescriptions is .25 (e.g., 1.25, 1.50, 1.75… etc) I was wondering how important it is that I get him toric lenses for that eye (i.e.for astigmatism).

Problem is most companies sell toric lenses starting with .50 or .75 (cylinder), and also the idea of buying two types of lenses (normal and toric) is off-putting.
Custom made lenses are one solution but too expensive.
I should also note that, in the past, I've ordered myself lenses that were .25 off from my prescription in cylinder and power, and it made no difference to me.

So bottom line: should I ignore the -.25 astigmatism and just order normal lenses?
Expert or informed opinions please.

My wife has changed in character?

We have been married just 5 months and I knew my wife for about a year before we married. Yet over the last six weeks she has changed.
She has taken to wearing old fashioned clothes like something from the fifties and a month ago I came home to find her wearing thick old fashioned cats eye glasses with thick coke bottle lenses.
I said i had no idea she needed glasses and she told me she did not but enjoyed wearing them for fun. She has contacts that she puts in so she can see through the thick lenses.
I find this uncomfortable and was very concerned going out with her.
She seems to have changed a lot and is very feminine as opposed to how she was and now seems very subordinate and wants me to take control more than before.
I am not comfortable with this and wonder how to deal with it.

I have always wanted red eyes and thinking about finally getting all the cool cloths now I got a big of cash, but contacts that changed the eye colour seem like it wont work and could damage my eyes, so I thought ask first and don't go blind later

your eyes change to light (go bigger when dark and small in light) so would the eye contact change too?
Can it damage your sight If you wore it most or all the time?

Right now I wear Acuvue 1-day moist, but my eyes get so dry after just a few hours! I've had to use eyedrops every two hours or so, but they still bother me. I've been researching other brands but I really don't know. Anyone know of a good brand?

Swollen Upper Eyelid?

My left upper eyelid was swollen when i woke up this morning. When i touch it or sometimes blink, it feels as though my upper eyelid muscle is sore. The night before i went to bed my left eye felt really warm; more warm than usual (I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the swelling though). I also wore contacts lenses the same night it felt warm. I have a feeling that the infection might be stye, but i'm not 100% sure.It'll be really helpful if someone can tell me any useful treatments for it. =)

I'm stating in Montana for thanksgiving until Monday. On the ride here, my shampoo bottle leaked onto some of my clothes an possibly my contact case.So at night I put my contacts into the case (after rinsing it out) and went to bed.
This morning I tried Putting the right one in and it stung, so I took it out ASAP. I looked at the left contact and it is big a bit bigger and floppy. I only have one pair of lenses and I'm using optifree replenish.

Problem with Halloween contact lenses?

I bought some cat eye contacts and my right eye looks great but for some reason my left cat eye goes horizontal.It only stays in place when it's horizontal lol

What does this mean? Please explain
Added (1). They were in the correct eyes lol and in case some of you don't know. They're special weighed lenses so that the cat eye design places itself correctly and stays that way.

But for some reason my left cat eye design goes horizontal, all the time! O_o

Double vision in both eyes even when one is closed?

I'm 20 and I wear contacts. About a year ago, I experienced double vision in both eyes, even when one is closed and when both are open.It seems to go along with headaches sometimes, too. I was in the hospital for a week and saw many specialists and doctors who had no idea what was wrong with my eyes.An example of the double vision I see is when I'm reading text, I see the words above it or below it, depending on how I move my head. When I widen my eyes or squint too much, it gets worse.

All of a sudden, contact lenses began to hurt. I have irritation to Systane lubricant drops as well. Lately the double vision seems to be worse.

Someone please help.

My son is 21 and is very short sighted which means he has to wear quite thick lenses. For the last year he has been using contacts but has been told by the optician he would be able to have laser surgery. Has anybody had any recent experience? Thanks for your help.

My Lenses are about 4 years old now, after working in a kitchen, and being near chemicals and heavy heat and cold, and humidity changes.My Anti-glare coating on both lenses has deteriorating and has been flaking off for about 2 years now.

Looking at trying to get new prescription sun glasses, with medical coverage, and not wanting to get new lenses for my frames yet.

And quality of clarify continues to deteriorate, one eye cleared up as it actually got so bad it all wore away making it easier to see.

I am trying to find a way to get this to happen or promote the flaking of just that layer to clear the lenses.No scratches on the lenses, this is on the inside coating towards my eye.

Why are my new glasses giving me a headache?

I had first worn glasses when i was a child but I could see everything a bit slanted which annoyed me and somewhat gave me a headache thats why never wore it. But now after like 10-12 years i got my eyes tested from a doctor and he prescribed me to wear glasses of -0.75 value (both eyes). I got it made and it was a very high quality coated lens. I used it for like 5-10 min in front of the computer screen and it started giving me a huge headache. Its even paining after taking the glasses off.

I don't think that the doctor or the shopkeeper from whom i got the specs made did anything wrong.
But can it be really giving me a headache because I am wearing specs for the first time?
Or is it because its a very high quality coated lens? It can't be because the lens is specifically made for preventing strain.

P.S. I searched through the internet and it showed that everyone has different views. Somebody says it shouldn't be paining cuz they never faced such problem and viceversa.

Please express your views about my problem and the possible reasons of the specs giving me a headache. Thanks a lot.

Why did the eye dr keep asking me if the green or red was better?

I don't think it was about color blindness. She made half of the eye chart red and half green, split down the middle. When I said the red side was better she changed the lens and asked again. After about six times, she said she was sorry I liked the red so much. What was this all about? What's wrong with red? And does that have anything to do with why she made my new prescription much stronger?

I'm using Busch nd Lomb at the moment. Nd it doesn't read sensitive. I think my eyes are sensitive I'm not sure but when I got my contacts yesterday for the first time, those made my eyes like a little swollen, not very visible though and also watery for first 2 hrs.

Hi there, I wanted to ask if u wear contacts for the very first time, can u like tell that u r wearing them because I could like feel the presence in my eye. And my eyes were kind of watery at the first time and a little red which was fine later though but like is it supposed to be like this and I think my eyes were a little swollen for a while but not much. Also when I was 14 I had got contacts but then I was infected may b I don't take care of it properly so now I'm 18 and I got them and this is the way how it was, is it fine? Why does one brand of Contacts work great for someone, but not for me?

I have had contacts for over a year now. I started on Biofinity, they were the expensive ones. $100 6months. When these expired, i looked around on the internet for cheaper ones, but still comfortable. I decided on "Biomedic 55 premiers".($50) My eye doctor ordered them in, but said they wont be as comfortable, I got them anyway, because reviews were great.
I got them, and they suck. I wear them from 6am, and by 6pm, they are unbearable, and they get foggy for some reason. They make my eyes feel dry, and are bad overal. For the first 8 hours they are fine, but after that I hate them.

Once, i accidentally wore my Biofinitys overnight, woke up, they were fine. I did the same once with Biomedic 55s, and everything was blurry and my eyes hurt.

Why some people have dark rings around their iris and others dont have?

Im wondering why some people have dark rings around their iris and others dont have it.
It looks really cool & beautiful. Many contact lenses nowadays have dark outline around the iris. SOme people are lucky to have it naturally

I noticed that some people have thicker dark rings and some have thin dark ring around the iris.
Iris with thick dark outline is rare.
Is it dominant or a recessive trait?
Most brown/black eyes people dont have the ring too.
