Creationists, there ARE things about Science you trust, right?

For example, if you are out watching Nascar, or whatever other cultural pastime you like to indulge in, you buy sunglasses that block UV light. You KNOW UV is bad for your eyes, and you trust that the glasses will do what the label claims. Yet you don't think about or investigate how the UV is blocked by the lenses (or rather the coating) before it hits your eyes. You trust that the Scientists who discovered, patented and perfected this coating knew what they were doing.
Likewise when you take an analgesic like Asprin or Tylenol. You trust that the Scientists that discovered these drugs knew what they were doing. You trust that the Science behind these drugs is sound and that it is being perfected and researched on an ongoing basis. Yet you don't look into how these drugs are made or how they work.

So why, when it comes to the Science of Evolution, do you balk and deny? The Science is there, it has over 150 years of peer reviewed Science backing it and to this day, not ONE single theory has ever given us a different explanation as to the changes biology undergoes over time.

So, why do you pick and choose what Science you're going to believe and which one you're not?

Why is my eye droopy/puffy?

For the last 4-5 months my eye has seemed to of gone wonky, or puffy or droopy, I cant work out what it is.

I had an eye infection around 6 months ago, the doctor treated it and now it seems to be stuck how it is now, I went back to the doctors and he gave me some lacri-lube incase it was dry and still nothing has changed. I tried eye baths, still nothing

I also stopped wearing my contact lenses for a month and nothing has changed!

will it ever go back to normal? if not can I get surgery?

Contact lens was stored in water - how to clean?

Last night I ran out of solution so I stored my contacts with water instead (stupid move, I know). Today I bought a new bottle of solution (Opti-Free Pure Moist) so I used that to clean my contacts, along with a cleaner solution(Septiclens).

I'm just wondering if what I did was enough to disinfect the contacts or is there something else I should do?

(I don't know if this helps but our water is alkaline water and my contact lens brand is Optix)

How to clean my contact lens CASE?

People say you should take your solution and rinse it with that and let it air dry? But should you put a paper towel and put your contact lens case upside down on that and then let it dry that way or just let it straite up air dry?

HELPP i dont want a bacteria filled contact lens case:( also i just got my contacts like 2 days ago i didnt know you were supoosed to let it air dry or watever so i just put solution in my case rinsed and dumped it out in the sink and then put my contacts in my case after i did that and put fresh solution in it, since its been only 2 days will something bad happen to my eyes!

Astigmatism Correction in one Eye. Slight magnification in other to Balance it?

So i had my eyes rechecked after not seeing well with original Rx (first time glasses wearer). I have a slight astigmatism in left eye. Right eye is fine.So the doctor made a slight change in the Rx. Right eye still was fine. When i received the glasses back , the owner of the store said "We put a little power on the Right side to balance it a little".Is this normal? especially since the Doctor did not write a prescription for the right eye? It is very minimal, but it very slightly degrades my distance vision in the right eye. Overall the glasses are much better now and i don't feel disoriented as a did before. The doctor said I can wear these for all around purpose (i believe he is unaware of any change in the right eye lens). Just want a professional opinion on this matter.

Can I get this mark on my eye removed?

I didn't have it as a child, I noticed it in middle school and I am not a college graduate.It doesn't affect my vision, it's actually my good eye. I do wear prescribed lenses. I want to get it removed, it affects my self esteem. People always point it out when I meet them.It's a bit embarrassing. I want to get it removed, would anyone know where I can go and about how much it will cost? I have no insurance.

Can I wear contacts with a different base curve than my prescription?

I am looking at getting colored contact lenses for doing cosplay and I do have corrective contact lenses. I noticed that almost all the contacts are listed at BC 8.6 and you cannot choose otherwise. However, my prescription lenses have a BC of 8.5. Would I be able to safely and comfortably wear the colored lenses without any issues? Thanks :)

This is my normal monthly toric lens prescription:

Frequency Xcel Toric
Power: -5.25
Base Curve: 8.7
Diameter: 14.4
Cylinder: -1.75
Axis: 20

I'm looking to get dailies, simply as at time i've dropped/damaged a lens and dailies would be more convenient for me.
However, online I can only find them with a Base Curve of 8.6 and a Diameter of 14.2? Why is this, and are their any optical geniuses out there who know if I can acually get Dailies at all?

My prescription is -6.00 in my left eye and -5.75 in my right eye so the lenses make my eyes look smaller.Is there anything that will help it not look so small!

Ladies who wear prescription glasses?

I have acute keratoconus, a condition that requires I wear prescription glasses.
My prescription lenses make my eyes look TINY and really close together… I look ridiculous :(
I can't wear contact lenses (or afford them as they are over 500$ a pair for gas-permeable lenses)
or I would already be doing so… any tips on how to make me appear normal?

I can't find my contact lens!

I opened my contact case to put my contacts in and one of them wasn't in there! I have a doctor appointment tomorrow to get new ones but it's after school and that was the earliest they could get me in. My eye is in pain due to soaking contacts in Clear Eyes for 2 min?

I ran out of solution in a small town where gas stations do mot carry contact solution. I had gone to walgreens earlier that day to pick up what I thought was solution however I bought some daily contact cleaner. A much thicker, alcohol-smelling solution. I squirted some cleaner in my case and inserted my left lens.

When I noticed the difference in texture and smell abt 10 seconds later, I immediatly removed my lens from the case and rinsed it off with water. I put the lens back in my eye hoping that my tears would naturally lubricate my eyes. BIG mistake.My eye killedddd! I had some clear eyes redness relief that I just bought so I soaked my lens in some for about 1-2 min, put it back in my eye and it felt wonderful!

HOWEVER, I had to sleep in them for 6 hrs and this morning my eye is KILLING me. The pain is tolerable now but extremely uncomfortable, my eye keeps tearing up, and it feels as if I have a lens in that is backwards

I THREW THE LENSES AWAY. HOW DO I STOP MY EYE FROM HURTING???

Is it possible to buy RXable frames and only get reading 2.50 lens for it?

I've found the perfect frames I want.My eyes are perfect with 2.50 power, but it's asking for Sphere, Cylinder and Axis.Is there any way to enter stats that will match the 2.50 you would get from reading glasses? If so what do I enter? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh I don't have a prescription, im just saying the normal reading glasses you can buy from walmart work fine for me, but I want to take the 2.50 power you get from reading glasses and convert it to rx.In the end I just want reading lenses on the rx frame, is that possible. Blurred vision after wearing contact lenses?

So i started wearing contact lenses a few days ago and understand my eyes are still adapting. Several hours after removing them my close range vision has gone blurred and my balance abit off.Is this normal or something to worry about?

Also when putting my lenses in, the lense has a small code visible when lens is in light, should this code be on the inside of the lens if they are the right side up?

What is the difference between 180 axis and 20 axis on eyeglasses?

I went to two different optometrists and they gave me two different prescriptions. I went to the second for a second opinion and used his prescription. I cannot see out of my the sides of my new lenses. I have to turn my head. Everything is perfectly clear straight ahead, but looking up or down is blurry. I can't even look at the corner of my computer screen without it getting blurry.

What is the difference between a 180 axis and a 20 axis?

Here are the two prescriptions:
OD: -5.50 -.50x180
OS: -5.75 -.50x180

R: -5.75 -0.25x20
L: -6.00 -0.25x16

I have 165 hi index lenses.
Went for second opinion because the first set is from the first Optometrist and his prescription for contacts was wrong. Yes, I know that the prescription for contacts and glasses are different.

Any insight or helpful tips would be helpful. This is the first set of lenses since developing an astigmatism.

Added (1). Thanks for the replies. I just want to note, that the prescription is perfect while staring straight ahead. But, if I direct my eyes in any other direction it gets blurry and continues to get worse the more towards the edge of the glasses. I'm going to revisit my optometrist tomorrow to see what's up with the lenses/prescription he gave me. Since I've never had lenses to correct an astigmatism is this normal? Will I get used to it or does this seem incorrect?

How to properly put in my contact lenses?

So I recently got a pair of red contact lenses from a convention in downtown Toronto, but I've never worn contacts before. I don't want to destroy my eye, so I want to know how to put them in correctly. They are what I think are called "soft" or "flexible" contacts (as in, they aren't hard) and the brand is Crazy Lens. They're stored in a liquid and because of this I don't know A. how to remove them or B. if I'm meant to dry them off first before I insert one. According to the label the liquid is 'buffered saline solution'.
So any help is welcome! Just please remember: I've never worn contacts before or even OWNED them, so don't assume I know something and not tell me it D: I'm suffering from my ignorance of contact lenses…

Having trouble putting in my contact lens?

I just got them yesterday and I've been trying to put them in for almost the whole night but i cant.
What I did was i used the pointer of my left hand to lift up my eye lid and the middle finger of my right hand to pull the bottom eye lid with the contacts on the pointer on my right hand. Even though i tried many times, i cant put it in.

I even touched my eye ball but it still isn't going in.

Where can I order Precription Halloween contacts that fits properly?

Hello I have found several online sites that give the prescription option BUT it wont allow me to have the base curve and diameter fit to my eye.My base curve is 14.2 and diameter is 8.5. Most sites are selling these prescriptions in 14.0 and 8.6. !!! Ugh, I'm going to Comic Con and want to dress up but I refuse to risk blinding myself. Prescription to Snellen chart?

I am going to MEPS for the Air Force next wednesday and thursday, I got a copy of my prescription today:

O.D: SPH = -75, CYL = -100, AXIS = 90
O.S: SPH = -175, CYL = -50, AXIS = 70

Someone told me on an earlier question that I have astigmatism which I never knew but I looked it up and it is not severe enough for disqualification from the Air Force. However I am wondering how my prescription relates to a Snellen chart, the qualifications are:

(1) 20/40 in one eye and 20/70 in the other eye, (2) 20/30 in one eye and 20/100 in the other eye, or (3) 20/20 in one eye and 20/400 in the other eye with corrective lenses.

Is there anything harmful in cheap eyeglass frames?

I bought some brightly colored eyeglass frames online for cheap (less than $5, made in China). I had some prescription lenses put in them and I love the style. However the optician said that they might have lead paint, and they might shatter and damage my eyes. I did notice that some of the color leaks off and stains my face. But I like the glasses a lot and can't find the style elsewhere.Is it possible the frames are going to be harmful to my health?

Contact lenses just recently started bothering one eye?

I have been wearing contact lenses for about 18 years now with no issues. Recently my left eye has been irritating me quite a bit. First time it happened was several months ago and it felt like there was something on the lens between the lens and eyelid. Hurt very bad and threw out the lens and changed out… didnt help much. Wore glasses for a few days and then tried again. Seemed ok for about 5 days or so then the same feeling slowly started coming back. Went to optometrist and they switched me to a different brand lens with slightly tighter fit… again it felt fine for a week and then slowly it felt like something was on my eye… irritated to blink or move eye around. Have to remove them again for days and wear glasses and continue the cycle. Going back to optometrist tomorrow, but wanted to see if anyone has experienced similar?

What happens if my contact lense gets stuck in my eye?

Hi guys
I am in the process of moving, and these past couple of days I have not gotten a chance to take my contact lenses off before I go to sleep. They are for vision, not color.

I woke up this morning with my left eye's contact missing, and my right eye's still intact. Thinking it might have rolled back, I tried to tilt my head back, and look down to get it from the back of my eyeball, but it isn't there.It might have fell out of my eye, during sleeping, but I don't want to blame it on that, just incase there is a risk of me hurting myself from a contact stuck in my eye, that I was not aware of.

How should I handle this? I kind of feel something when I blink, but that might be psychological. Please help. :( I am very scared.

How often should I change my contact solution? - 1

Well, I got circle lenses/colored lenses quite a while ago, but don't wear them daily. I have disposable contacts that I wear everyday, while the circle lenses I use every now and then to make my eyes look more cute. I keep them in a contact case in solution, obviously, but I was wondering how often the solution should be changed??? I've also noticed when I put them in recently they made my eyes sting… why is this? Thanks for your answers~ ^_^

My contacts are just so uncomforable now but I used to be able to wear them for 15 hours every day.My practitioner has been great and we've tried everything - changing the type of lens, changing the brand of lens, changing solutions, using all sorts of eye drops, reducing time wearing contacts but nothing is helping. I've heard this isn't uncommon for people who've worn glasses for a long time.

Wearing contacts 17/18 hours a day. How to keep them for irritating my eyes?

I work in the entertainment industry which calls for very long days. I spent most of last week working 16-17 hours a day. Needless to say by the end of the day my eyes and contacts were driving me crazy.It is very hard to wear glasses running around doing what I do, setting up events and shows, equipment, etc. I also don't feel near as confident when I have glasses on my face. Soft lenses hurt my eye? - 1

So I have been wearing contacts for almost 3 years now, and I wear the two week ones. Last night i had been crying a lot. This morning I opened a new pack of lenses and put them on, my right eye got it in fine, but as soon as I put in my left eye I experienced a horrible stinging pain. I could not get it out, so I went to the glasses store where I buy my contacts and they helped me take it out and said my eye was fine but did not give a reason why that happened.It was not because it was inside out or ripped. I have been wearin contacts for 3 years and nothing like this has ever happened.
Does it have something to do with the crying?

Pressed powder recomendations and makeup advice?

Ok so I am runnnig out of powder so I am taking this opportunity to see if there is a better pressed powder or somethinf like that. I am also getting glasses next week so I want something that will look good under my lens (if it helps they are bifocals) and will be able to stay on for a long time and not get smudged by my frames

-long lasting and not easy to smudge
So yeah if any of you use glasses do you have any tips to make my eyes look good under my glasses (they are hipster glasses) or to help just help compliment my facial features

Also would Adding liquid foundation help it last longer and do you have recommendations? Or any tips to help my eyes look bigger under my glasses?

I currently use cover girl I don't know which pressed powder it is but it was cheap but its just OK and comes off easy

Can I change the color of my eye with natural ways? No eye surgery or lenses or crap, is there natural ways of changing the eye color, for example consuming some time of food, or some of that hypnosis stuff, does it really work? Is there any proof?

Can I wear circle lenses for alittle over 7 or 8 hours?

I've recently got circle lenses for school because Ive been wanting them and I also order my regular contacts for school, but I've read that you can only wear them for about 4-6 hours or your eyes would become dry and stuff. But My school starts at 8:30 and ends at 3:40 and I have to walk home so I get home at around like 4. And I wake up at like 7 so. Would I have to carry around eye drops? Or could I go through out the day wearing my contacts and be fine? And Also I dont plan on wearing contacts every single day I would like wear my circle lenses one day and change to my regular contacts because I only have one pair left.So.yeah. Thank youuu~

Different solutions to clean colored contacts?

Hi, so I have bought some colored contacts, which is still stored how they arrived, I haven't opened them as I'm in need of solution. I tried to figure out which brand is the best as I don't want to buy something cheap that'll damage my eyes. But I was wondering, are there two different kinds of solutions? Which one is it you keep the lenses in overnight and just leave them there in the cases when they aren't in use? And which one is it you clean them with when you are going to wear them?
If you have any suggestions as to which brand is good please write them along with your answer I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm 13, and I've wearing glasses since 5th grade and I want to change it to contact lenses, cuz glasses kinda bother me…
So how does it feel?
Does it hurt?
How does it hurt from scale 1-10?
Cheaper than glasses?

Contact lenses keep tearing?

I use oasy contacts, they keep tearing every week or so and my dad is fed up with it.It ends up chipped every week.My dad says I have to get glasses again if I keep tearing them. I hated glasses, plus people treat me like a cool person now! Please tell me how to stop tearing my contact lenses!

Which colour lens should i use?

Now im seriously confused… with the coloured contact lens.as there are so many colours… i hv no idea which coulour will suit me as i have medium dark skin, dark eyes and hair… just suggest me in what colour will i luk attractive and not like a ghost!!!

Contact lens dropped in urinal container?

I accidentally dropped my pair of contact lens in my urinal container, and was able to salvage it by using my shirt as a filter, i let the contacts rest in the contact lens container with a solution for several hours.
I don't have the money to buy another pair.
My question is, is it still good for me to use those lens? Will it irritate my eyes?

Contact lenses get cloudy/dirty?

Okay so I just went to the optometrist about 2 weeks ago and received new contact lenses. I have been wearing contacts for about a year now with no problems. The only problem I have now is that about five minutes after I put them on they get cloudy/dirty. I don't touch
my eyes and I wash my hands before putting them in. I don't have dry eyes or any serious problems. I don't know why this keeps happening. I had to throw away 2 fresh pairs of contacts due to this. The sample contacts I received were fine, but now for the past few times I've been trying to wear them I can't even get out the house before they fog up. Please help!

Can I use a heated eyelash curler while wearing contacts?

I recently ordered a cheap heated eyelash curler on ebay (it hasn't arrived yet). I am aware that the heat is not intense, just warm, but just to be safe I'd like to know if i could use the lash curler while wearing contact lenses or my circle lenses.
