Test lenses. How long should i wear them?

I got Air Optix for Astigmatism test lenses from my optician but problem is, it doesn't say how long should i wear them. Are theese test lenses for one day or two weeks or something else?
My optician didn't say anything and it isn't written on lense case.

What brand colored contact lenses should I get?

I am going to the eye doctor to get new prescription lenses and I want to try colored lenses.

I have dark brown eyes and I want lenses that make my eyes blue.
I tried freshlook colorblends blue, but it was very uncomfortable, I couldn't see because my eye makeup kept getting in them and nobody could even tell my eyes were blue.
What brand of colored contacts is best for comfort yet still makes my eyes look very blue and stand out?

These are prescription so they are going to be for everyday wear.

How long do I wear the trial pair of contacts?

I have had the trial pair of contacts for almost 3 weeks now.

I Just got the actual prescription ones on Friday.It's Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism. I have no idea when to start using the prescribed ones.

It doesn't say on the package either how long they last for. Which is kind of irritating.

I would call my doctor but they wouldn't answer. Not open today?

I don't want to burden my parents with them having to take me to buy glasses, I was wondering how old you have to be to buy glasses on your own? I have a prescription that hasn't expired and just need to buy the lenses and the frame.Do I need a parent? Also, if I was to need a new prescription in the future, would I need a parent to take me to get an eye exam? (Assuming I have no insurance; thus, no need for their information about it since there is none).

Single Vision or Progressive?

So I am very confused on this one. I a, supposed to be going to the eye doc. Monday and I am curious on Progressive vs. Single Vision. I can see up close just fine, I am actually typing without my glasses on now, but I can't see clearly once you get about 5ft in front of me. Last time i went to the eye doc. (back in 2006) I was told I had very bad astigmatism. I am getting new glasses due to my poor sight in my 10 year old glasses (I got them back in late 2002) so I can get my Learner's Permit, and I can't see the distance I am supposed to. I am wondering am I going to have to get progressive lenses or if single vision will work at all times for me. Like I said, i can see perfectly up close, but not at a distance.

Hello.
I'm ordering contact lense (Air Optix for Astigmatism) and i was wondering:

R: -1.25x25°
L: -1.25x175°

Since there isn't lenses for 25°, 175°etc.
Should i order lenses with higher angle or lower angle? Should i order 20° or 30° for right eye and 170°or 180°for left eye?

Do contact lenses get more comfortable over time? - 1

A few years ago I gave up wearing contacts after trying Soflens 38, Acuvue Advanced and AirOptix (not sure which one, but wasn't night and day). All were uncomfortable - in fact they were impossible to use and tolerate.

Recently I decided to give them another try because I hate wearing glasses all the time (they just don't fit my face, even others say that). When I saw the optometrist, we tried Acuvue Oasys, Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism and Biofinity. They were all uncomfortable, but the Biofinity one was better than the rest.So took a pair to try for a week and go back to have my eyes checked after that. He also told me that we didn't have many choices because of my big and flat cornea. This wan't the first time I heard this from an optometrist.
Since these are not very comfortable either, I was wondering whether it could get better within a week or so. The optometrist thought contact lenses might just not work for me. We're going to try one-day lenses if these don't work. But I like Biofinity because I can nap in them occasionally (with my situation I don't think extended wear is a choice)

P.S. unlike Acuvue Advanced and Soflens, my eyes don't get red in these lenses. But they feel very dry and tired and that starts almost immediately after I wear them.It keeps getting worse after that.

Can you still get a eye test when your 16-19 in the UK?

My friends sister just turned 16 a couple of months ago and the opticians said that if she is still in full time education, she can still get a free eye test and free glasses.Is that true?
I have a pair of glasses that the frame doesn't fit and another pair that has a little scratch on the lenses can I ask for a new pair even if i'm in full time education, or even if I buy my own frame and tell them to put the lenses on for me?

Easy way to put in contact lenses?

Okay, so I was reading older posts of the same thing which suggested that you should get used to the feeling by first touching the whites of your eyes and stuff; which I can do all right, but because it's coloured contacts, when I'm going to put them in my eyes, I can see the colour and it freaks me out slightly.Is there any way to practise putting them in, or a way of getting used to them, because I need them for my horror trailer for my media course?

Disguising iris pattern with contact lenses?

I watched Charlie's Angels where Natalie got pass a retinal scan using contact lenses. Aside from the obvious mistake that the retina and iris are two completely different things, would it be possible to fool an iris scanner with fake contact lenses?
Added (1). I'm not sure, but perhaps they etched someone else's pattern onto the contact lenses. Ah well, it's probably only a Hollywood trick.

I'm wearing contacts for the first time and I just can't get them out.My optician said if I slap myself on the back of my head, they will come out, but I've been trying (pretty hard) for over half an hour and I've now got a headache and my contacts lenses are still in. Can anyone help?

Are my girls unusually nearsighted for their ages?

I have 2 girls and a boy. The girl's prescriptions seem to be getting stronger very fast. Both of them already need thicker lenses than I do. All 3 just went to the eye dr. Here are the results for each child (only the spheres, they also have cylinders that are much weaker).

Girl age 14 old rx RE -8.50 LE -8.00 new rx RE -9.50 LE -9.00
Boy age 12 old rx RE & LE -3.50 new rx RE & LE -4.25
Girl age 9 old rx RE -7.50 LE -7.00 new rx RE -9.00 LE -8.75

My impression is that my son has normal glasses but the girls don't.Is that an accurate assessment?

Ok its a dumb? But I recently ran out of left contact lenses but I have plenty of right ones left (btw these are disposable lenses meaning i put completely new ones every day).So is it ok if i put the right contact lense in my left one as well cuz i have school tmwr and i wont be able to survive without my contacts… my left eye is 2.50 and my right one is 2.75.Is wearing the opposite contact for the opposite eye bad for my eyes? I am seeing my optometrist to update my eyeglasses-Rx soon.

I currently wear simple bifocal glasses (one eye is Far-sighted and the other is Near-sighted.)
I DID wear Contact lenses three years ago to remedy my near / far-sighted visions. - I am considering to return to wearing contact lenses with my upcoming Rx.

The 2 years I wore contacts, I had THE COMMON ISSUES of dry eyes, irritated / red eyes, which made returning to framed lenses a better choice at that time (2010.)

Is the Contact lens technology THAT MUCH IMPROVED since 2010? My vision will very-likely be improved with Toric-type of lenses.
I am "Virtual-shopping" so I can gain more options to consider when I update my current vision Rx.

Glasses prescription compared to contacts prescription?

I only wear glasses right now, but my glasses are super annoying.My left eye is -2.25 and my right eye is -2.50. I recently ordered a pair of circle lenses online just today and I ordered them with the same prescription as what my glasses are. Was this wrong? Should I have gone to check up what exactly the prescription for contacts for me would be instead of using my prescrip.from my glasses? I heard that there's not much difference between the two if your vision is less than -4.0 though.
Also, can you wear circle lenses for everyday wear? Any help please? (:

Does BC (base curve) matter that much with contacts?

I was going to purchase new contacts online but they don't have my base curve. Normally i wear acuvue 2 with a base curve of 8.3 and a diameter of 14.0 but the ones I want to buy (expressions) only offer a bc of 8.6 and they have my diameter. I don't do this continuously but it happens sometimes you fall asleep with your lenses in for the night I did this 7 or 8 times how bad is that? i'm scared to get an infection

Laser treatment for Retina tear?

A few weeks ago I had a Cataract operation and an IOL lens was inserted in my left eye. Everything went well and now my left eye sees clearly. A few days ago I suddenly started getting floaters in my cataract operated eye. I went in to see the eye surgeon and after examination he informed me that I had a tear in my retina. The day after the examination he lasered my affected eye to repair the tear in the retina. Can someone who has had this similar experience let me know what precautions I must observe to prevent future complication for this affected eye or the other eye. Thanks.

i have noticed this with eye color specifically.

It doesn't matter if this famous celebrity is Asian, European, African, or of Middle Eastern decent, they will cover up those "nasty" brown eyes (that majority of their people have) and wear blue or green contacts.

This happens with skin also, as you all know..Indians/Middle eastern and Asians bleach their skin and wear blue contact lenses to appear more.white-European

I know some South Europeans are born with white skin but like to tan naturally (not over-do it) but they get this natural olive tone, and honestly i believe South Europeans are the only ones in this world that actually love how they look like. They never wear contact lenses or anything like that..and they actually say that the darker you are the better you look… so they go opposite to the nazi ideal beauty

what do you think? i am really surprised that people notice that there's not many black people in movies but they don't notice how very few brown eyes actors are in the media. Don't start naming me all the actors with brown eyes. One eye is -5.00, the other is -4.75, rimless glasses. Should I get 1.59 Polycarbonate or 1.61 High index? Or even 1.67, which is £15 higher than the 1.61? Will there be any noticeable differences?

Okay so I am just wondering if my vision is considered bad at my age. I'm already 18 years old(male) and my prescription is sphere -1.25 right eye and sphere -1.25 left eye, I am near sighted.Is this bad for my age and will it get worse over time? My conjunctivitis is almost gone, can i wear contact lenses for one evening?

I contracted conjunctivitis on Sunday evening, and i've been using antibiotic eye drops since Monday, my conjunctivitis seems to be almost gone, i woke up with a bit of gunky discharge in my eyes this morning but the pink-eye has gone. But i am going out tonight, and I don't want to go out in my glasses or without and be almost blind. On the leaflet for the antibiotic eye drops it says not to use contact lenses until 24 hours after symptoms have gone. However would it be a major problem if i wore them for one evening and then threw away those contact lenses after their use? Thanks

Know what sucks? (optometry)?

Having to replace 2 week disposable contacts every two weeks. I swear they intentional spend scientific power to ensure that you can't wear these things for longer. I used to have a base AccuVue 2 prescription. You could LITERALLY wear these things for months.No eye problems, no vision loss.

I even had an optometrist who had told me that you can wear them longer than two weeks as long as you take proper care of your eyes. If you live in the Twin Cities area of MN shoot me mail and I'll get you in contact with her. She is actually a doctor who CARES and is not just out there for a bonus for prescribing some new *** ( which is my new brand of contacts sucks *** btw ). PLUS, she a milf, or at least she was last time I saw her. What beats going in to the doctor for help and also getting some nice eye candy?

But stupid me decided to go to a different optometrist, who ISN'T a milf!.Should have known from the start. Oh here let me prescribe these new ( and more expensive ) lenses because you left eye isn't getting enough oxygen, but little did she know that I went there going MONTHS without a contact in my left eye.

***!!! I miss my lil tan, tiny lil hot milf of an optometrist and hopefully she has it in her to take me back one day.

I've never had glasses before and after going to an eye clinic they told me I needed glasses but I cannot understand the paper and they eye clinic where I live has terrible service so I was going to buy some online.

What solution is best for circle lenses?

So i live in Leeds, its a boring place that only sells english stuff, so the shops arent really stocked on circle lens solution. But it has a lot of soft lens solution, but the last one i got didnt work very well.
I got easyvision multipurpose solution, i dont think it was for soft lenses, and it made my eyes burnn when i put in the lenses.So i decided to go with a different solution and if it doesnt work im assuming its the lenses and im throwing them out.
Now i have complete revita lens for silicone hydrogel and soft contact lenses - dual action formula.
Would this work better? Is there any specific reason the other solution didnt work?

Why do My contact lenses sting and have a hard time getting in?

I have two pairs of circle lenses and one pair I've had for a couple weeks and have had no problems with it. I got a new pair and for some reason it is a lot harder to get in. The middle likes to sink into My finger tips and even when I am able to get it placed normally on My finger and put them it in, it starts burning.
I treat My contact lenses equally. Even though I haven't been able to wear them, I clean them with the same solution as My other lenses, and I am even able to put the other lenses on right after without any problems.
I am cleaning the contacts thoroughly like the others, but this pair just doesn't feel good on My eyes at all.
What could be the problem?
Added (1). I had no problem getting My first lenses in, or the lenses before that. This problem has never happened to Me.
The only difference between the lenses is the base curve.
The base curve of the good ones is 8.7 mm and the bad ones have 8.6 mm.
Could that be a contributing factor?

Should I let my contacts soak or can I try them on first?

I received my circle lenses today in the mail.
I'm not planning on wearing them until tomorrow, but I wanted to try them on today…
I put them into a clean multi-purpose solution and have been sitting for only 15 minutes.
I really would like to try them on but I wanted to soak them for 6-8 hours like the solution recommends.

I don't plan on wearing them for a long time, just want to try them on because I've never worn contacts that're a bit bigger than the average size.

Would it hurt if I tried them on and put them into a clean solution again or should I just wait?

I'm waiting on some contact lenses from Malaysia and they sent it a very long time ago, like 2-2.5 months ago. I can track it with a tracking number provided but every time i track it it says the same thing over and over again. I have a feeling that i will never get it considering the fact that it has been in US for over a month now. Nobody in usps costumer service wants to tell me whats going on. Affordable eye insurance (college student)?

I'm currently an undergrad student and I wear glasses which broke a few days ago .. I don't have insurance as of right now so I'm looking for some.

I just need something basic that will cover the costs of eye glass exam and contact eye exam, contact lens, eye glass lens and the frame.

I've tried so many different concealers which will look okay in normal lighting, but when I go to school, I look like a zombie in the fluorescent lighting. I have not been tested for allergies, or anemia, and I wear contact lenses, do you think one of these things is the problem? Do you know of any EXTREMELY GOOD CONCEALERS that will cover well even in fluorescent light? Even with color corrector I can't seem to cover them up.

How to Deal With My Crazy *** Mom?

This is probably the last time I'll use my PC in a while… My mom is literally crazy. She's bipolar and very abusive. She married a man who doesn't even have a diploma. I'm smarter than him! My mom has been through 2 other marriages before this one ( this being the third) and I completely HATE my home life. The only time I can leave the house is for school and church. I'm 14, I'm in 8th grade, an exceptional student, so why am I the one who is given the wacko family! I'd never hit my mom but, nowadays I've been considering sticking a knife in her skull. She's physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive.n Just because her childhood was *** up doesn't mean mine has to be. I just want to be a normal 14 year old guy. She punches me in the face constantly and has choked my more times than I can count. I could fight her but, then I'd have my older brother and step-dad to worry about next. Hell, I don't even cry anymore. I'm grounded for like two months because I wrote on a shirt that she didn't even buy for gym. She calls me a liar, a bastard, and she's been threatening to "send me with my father "for the past six years ( still waiting ***!). The woman even punches my step dad and he doesn't do anything because he's a ***.She expects chores and things to be done a certian way even though she doesn't give instructions on how she wants *** done. She acts like a *** man. And she puts on a front like we're a happy family even though we both know we want each other dead. I just want her to suffer sometimes. She has an eye disease that leaves her legally blind but she has lenses that correct her vision by alot. She even has to get cornea surgery. But, *** her, this is about me. LOL! If you were me you'd laugh at her too. She thinks she's always right and always *** curses at me. She's such a *** I'M SORRY THIS IS SO LONG. I just had to get that off my chest and I welcome any suggestions that you guys have to help me cope with this crisis in my life.

I wear contact lenses so my eyes tend to water a lot during the day and my eyeliner on my lower waterline ends up under my bottom lashes by the end of the day and I don't have any time during the day to touch up my eyeliner. Anaglyph 3D glasses should i be concerned?

I am using anaglyph 3d glasses on my pc for games. When i finish using the glasses and take them off, i notice that one side of my vision is cyan tinted, and the other red. The weird thing is that the eye that is cyan tinted is the eye that was looking through the red lens and visa versa.

First of all should i be concerned that my eyes cannot cope with 3d anaglyph?
and secondly should i keep the lights and the monitor on in the room, or lights off with just the monitor on when i am viewing 3d?

Is it bad to keep switching between glasses and contacts?

I recently got contact lenses a few months ago, but I keep switching back and forth between glasses and contacts. Sometimes on the weekends I'm too lazy to put in my contacts right away in the morning, but if I'm going out in the evening I put in my contacts as I get ready.

The only problem is, after wearing glasses all day, putting in contacts makes me feel kind of weird.My vision is distorted a little because everything seems larger than normal, and for a few hours after switching I feel weirdly "zoned out", Like, my reaction time to things is slower, and I just feel mentally kind of foggy. People have told me I look like I'm stoned on something, and sometimes I get a headache. I'm not even 100% sure this zoned out feeling is related to switching between glasses and contacts, but it seems to be a pattern.

This doesn't happen if I put my contacts in first thing in the morning, only if I switch later.Is this type of thing normal, or does it mean that it's bad to keep switching like that?

Are my eyes going to get worse?

I lost my glasses, so im stuck wearing my old glasses which help but still cause my eyes to be straining.im stuck with these glasses until august because i cant afford to buy a new pair.i really actually am scared because my right eye is so bad that everything 3 feet away is blurry but my left eye isnt that bad yet, so yeah my eyes are really messed up.i noticed on my newer glasses the right lens is curved a lot more and sticks out, so im also scared that when i get new glasses again my right eye will be so bad that ill have those thick ugly lenses.this is a serious question though, any answers would be appreciated, do you think my eyesight can get that much worse by then?

How to know if you need reading glasses?

Lately I've been having problems and difficulty trying to read and take notes. I think that I need reading glasses or maybe bifocals. I've been taking notes on huge pieces of paper, squinting, moving things away from me when trying to read them, and I sit as close to the board in class that I can. I already wear glasses for myopia (distance) my prescription is -5.25 and -5.00 with 30 prism BO (base out). I'm nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other with astigmatism. Having prismatic glasses with prisms in my lenses means that I have double vision without my glasses.My vision is myopia strabismus esophoria.It is NOT esotropia my eyes are not stuck. There is nothing wrong with my health it is just how my eyes were formed and I have a muscle problem. I am also a college student. Please do not recommend me to have Lasik or any surgeries done. The reason for that is because I actually love my glasses, they are apart of me, many people still need glasses and prisms even after surgery, I don't like the idea of something going into or poking in my eye, and also I disagree with it. I will not have any Lasik or surgeries done. However, I can't read and take notes well with my glasses and when I take them off I can't see anything. Without my glasses, I have to hold something an inch in front of my face to see it and with my glasses to read I hold things back away from me.My appointment with my ophthalmologist is a month away. I have no problems at all with m glasses that I have, they're great and I see perfectly out of them; it's now just reading and taking notes that is the hassle. How do you know if you need reading glasses and what are the signs? Should I get a pair of reading glasses or maybe bifocals? Please give me some suggestions, advice, your opinions, and how do you know if you need reading glasses. (Also for me to type this I have my computer very zoomed in with super huge font.)

I have astigmatism in both eyes, and "unusually large eyes," according to the optometrist. However, I'm going to cosplay Chrome Dokuro in a little over a month, and I'd like to have circle lenses for this! Is it safe to wear colour contacts?

I want to buy coloured contact lenses because I think they would be cool. Maybe some with different looks to them. Definitely red ones so I can make my eyes look different sometimes. Besides the point. I do have a slight vision problem, but not enough to need glasses to see the world around me.

That being said, can I simply buy coloured contacts, or do I need to get them sized for my eye shape? Since I don't wear normal contacts, I wouldn't know. What's the procedure for figuring out this size, and where can I buy coloured contacts in my size?

Contacts for dry eyes?

I wore contacts a long time ago for a few years. The doctor told me to wear glasses for a while because I left my contacts in for too long. Well i tried to wear contacts again about three years ago and they felt very dry. I wore the same brand ( acuvue oasis with hydra clear plus) and they just felt very dry. I'm going back to the eye doctor soon. I want to wear contacts again does anyone have any suggestions about other brands other than acuvue for dry eyes? Thanks.

Hard contacts problem, may have done damage to my eye.help!

I wear a special hard lens at night to correct my corneas and one of them got stuck in the medial part of my eye last night. I didn't know that it wasn't in the right place, so I plunged my eye a few times trying to get it out before realizing that the lens had moved over. I finally got it out, but my eye is swollen shut this morning.My eye doctor is closed today so I can't call them; does anyone think I could have done serious damage? Thanks

Nearsighted in my left eye?

Recently I went to the eye doctor. I don't wear glasses and I never have. and I was told right when I walked into the office after the check up "oh you need stronger glasses?" And I said no I don't wear glasses so the doctor continued to do another check up and he told me I'm a little nearsighted in my left eye and that I could get glasses that made it more clear but I already see good I feel that my vision is good so I declined the glasses and he seemed to have gotten a little pissed off cause he turned around and gave me a face and goes "well I'm putting a prescription that you are declining glasses" and I said okay and so since my mom was with me (since my younger sisters had an appointment there too) I told her the situation and she told me "well it's your decision on what your doing but if the doctor told you you need them just get them and keep them in case one day you feel like you need them) so I went back into the office and I told the doctor if he could change the prescription so I could get the glasses and he told me in a very rude way "no you don't need them anymore.It's fine you can leave but later when your vision is worse you can come and we'll give you something stronger that will ruin both of your eyes. Goodbye" and he shut the door in my face.So what I'm wondering is if I'm not wearing those glasses could my vision get worse? Or no? Cause when he put some little lens things on me and said that's what my glasses would be the only difference I seem was it made the colors brighter that's about it.So can my vision get worse or no?

After wearing contact lenses for years, sudden extreme pain when I put them in?

I have worn contact lenses for about four years now with no problems. I did somewhat recently switch to a new lens type but I wore them for two months (monthlies: I changed them each month and cleaned them each day) with no problems and then… suddenly one morning when I tried to put my contacts in I experienced very severe burning pain and my eyes instantly became red and bloodshot and I had to immediately remove the contacts.It wasn't just irritation- it really hurt! I woke up my partner screaming and trying frantically to get the contact out of my eye. This happened in both eyes. I thought maybe something was on the contact lens so I opened up two brand new contact lenses but even with the fresh lenses the same thing happened. I waited a week and tried again (I have a cold? don't know if that can effect one's ability to wear lenses?) but still, it causes me extreme pain if I put the contacts in for even a second. Could it be that I have developed an allergy overnight to contact lenses? I am also taking anti-depressants/anti-psychotics for depression which I have heard can cause eye dryness, not sure if that could be a factor (50mg fluoxetine/prozac and 200mg quetiapine/seroquel).It just seems really sudden, any ideas what's going on?

I have Computer Vision Syndrome, is it really temporary?

I discovered that I have this disorder, although for a number of days passed by since my left eye continues to be blurry when whether or not I was on my PC.It is said that this disorder is temporary, so precisely, how many days or weeks do I have to avoid my PC or TV? I tried to use the 20-20-20 rule, changed my wallpaper to green, but to no avail, my left eye is very blurry that I can't see anything clearly in front of me. Please tell me the ways that I could avoid being short-sighted and don't have to depend on any eye surgeries or glasses and contact lenses. This is gonna sound insane since it's so late where I am (around 1 AM.) but I just put some on, and it's because I have never put any on in the way I have been wanting to and I'm watching a video on how to do it. I'm just too impatient to wait until I wake up the next morning. I was planning on finishing it and then going to bed, but then I realized: is it bad to do that? Should I not do it with a lot if I do? (I was planning on doing cat eyes which is quite a bit.) I don't want to get an eye infection or anything… Oh! Do i wear to much makeup?

A few people at college have been saying they dont like my makeup and it makes me look like a sl*% and i am really upset. I was bullied a lot in school and had a lot of racial abuse and the makeup is kinda like a security blanket for me. Pain in left eye when wearing contact?

I just out in my new pair of contacts yesterday ( I wear 31-day) and when ever I put the contact for my left eye in I get a pain in the top of my eyelid.it's like a pricking or pointing feeling. I've cleaned the contact lens multiple times and checked for any tears (I used a magnifying glass), but found nothing.It still causes pain in my left eye.

Origin Post is Preparing Shipment?

I ordered a pair of circle contact lenses on the 27th of January.
They let me know my order had been "shipped" on the 1st of February.
They gave me a tracking number and the USPS website to where I could trace it.

They also said that it'd require at least 15 working days of transit time. (That would make it the 22nd) but the ETA is the 19th of February.
I've been trying to track my order but the USPS website only says "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment". What does that mean, am I even going be getting my order anytime soon?
