How to reduce eye strain?

So I have pretty poor eye sight, but I have to read and look at a computer screen a lot. I have glasses, which reduces eye strain, but they unfortunately broke the other day, and I do not have an extra pair or contact lenses. Money is tight, so is there by any chance any way to get rid of the eye/head aches that I have while I don't have my glasses?

Temporary blurriness in one eye?

It is usually my right eye, but occasionally the left too. For a few seconds to a minute my vision will get all cloudy and I can hardly make an actual object out, I can see it, just not recognize it.My other eye will be completely normal and then it will go back and it will be perfectly fine.
I am 13, female, no history of vision problems (ie.no contact lenses, glasses, etc.) also no head trauma (if that means anything). Okay, that is it. If you have any more questions about it I can answer. Thanks!

I would also like to mention that it doesn't happen very often, it only happens occasionally (usually about once every month to 4 months).It also looks like there is a literal cloud in my eye, as if I were looking through a cloud (that is why it's called cloudy I guess).It also has a bunch of germ like thing that is almost translucent in the front of my eye. I probably can't get to a doctor for about a few weeks, so asap doesn't really work, maybe the fastest I can go would be on wednesday, or thursday.

I dont have any contact lens solution and i have a wrek old pair off monthly contacts in so i dont eant to ruin them, i have no distilled water and no solution until tommorow and they are starting to get dry and irritable already as theyve been in since 8am, what do i do?

How to get free contact lenses without going back to the optometrist?

So I'm trying to get some free TRIAL contact lenses as I don't know what ones to get. I have never worn them before. I continuously sign up for free offers but they all say I have to see the optometrist. Why I don't know when I already have a prescription from a week ago in front of me. And I'm using the VA healthcare system so I can't even get into see my doctor for another six months. Which means I would have to wait 2-3 more months after that to see an optometrist again.My headaches don't have time for that.

I mean can't I just have a free trial mailed to me and skip another optometrist visit which I will have to pay for when I already have a prescription?

Sorry. I'm just frustrated and blind with tired eyes.

I poked my eye in my sleep months ago and it still hurts sometmes?

I would say around 5-6 months ago, I had fake tips put on at the nail salon. One night when I was sleeping I must have poked myself in the eye really hard because I woke up in so much pain, I could barely open my eye and it kept watering. I looked at it and it was really red and in a certain spot it looked like there was a nail mark. (like a red u shape kind of) And occasionally ill wear my contact lenses instead of my glasses, but when I take my contacts out at the end of the day that eye still kills and it hurts in the same spot always. I know I should have gone to the eye doctor but I just figured it would go away --- anybody have any idea why my eye might still be hurting in that same spot such a long time later? Thanks!

Is it okay to wash your hair with contact lenses in?

I got contacts yesterday and I need to wash my hair today, if I don't have a bath/shower I just wash my hair over the bath with the shower head, I was told not to go swimming with them in or get them in contact with water -if I shut my eyes would it be okay? Or should I just not wash it with them in? What should I do?

I have daily ones and I don't really want to take them out to wash it

I dropped my Contact Lens in the sink.?

I am currently doing a Contact Lens trial which lasts only a week, if I decide to keep them then they will be the monthly disposables as that is all I can have for my prescription.
Today is the first day of using them. Anyway, as I was putting them in about 20 minutes ago.
I dropped it in the sink and the lens obviously got wet. I just put it back in the solutions container that it originally came in and give it a rub for a few seconds, then I put it in my eye.
Is this right?
Or do I have to actually use the bottled solution?

I am a very actve person so it is very difficult for me to wear glasses..i get very serious eye infections andam unable to wear contact lenses so the my eye doctor said that I would be perfect for lasik..i know it is considered cosmetic so most insurances wont cover it but what about a case like mine where I cant wear contacts because they damage my eyes?

Eye blurry with contacts?

So I've been wearing contacts for 6 months now. I use the 1-month soft lens, if that's of any use. I opened fresh new contacts 2 days ago but now the vision in my left eye is blurry! It isn't blurry when I wear my glasses, and I tried using my contact for my right eye in the blurry eye instead but it's still the same.Is it infected? There's no redness or pain. I thought it was dry eyes so I've been using rewetting drops and it isn't working.Do I need a different kind of drops?

My vision has changed, and I don't know what's wrong?

Ok so I noticed a few days ago with my glasses on at night that I'd see things double.It was really bad with light such as the numbers on a clock or subs on a TV. I had to get up closer to see it clearly. I also wear contacts, and it was a little better with those. But now I'm noticing even without my glasses on if I focus on something up close I see double.My prescription is -3.75 (R) and -4.00 (L).My glasses are concave lenses, plus they are transitions, and I am usually nearsighted. I am 14 years old. I plan to have my eyes rechecked soon. Can someone please help me out? I'm really nervous that there's something else wrong with me rather than my eyes. Thanks!

My parents made me an appointment at vogue optical for the end of july, they said i get glasses and contacts both for cheap. I was wondering if they would do my eye exam for contacts and glasses the same day, like would i pick out my frames, and then get fitted for contact lenses and everything at the same time? I lost my contact last night but i found it agai, it's been 18 hours and it was hrd but i've soaked it in solution for 5 minutes and it's softened up

would it be safe to put it in my eye after soaking it in solution ofr hours?

Added (1). Well i put it in my eye and it didnt hurt too much.and it's been in solution for 10 minutes so ill just wear they becuase my perscription is so strong it takes 2 weeks for my contacts to be made and shipped to me

What is I sleep over at someone's house? I don't feel my contacts arw safe bringing my contact case with me and taking them out then and leaving them in my friend's bathroom because .. i don''t want anything to happen to them.My friend's bathroom might not be hygenic and she has older brothers that might do something, and a little sister.It's better in the saftey of my own home. Can eye exercises improve vision?

I have started doing eye exercises. I wasn't born with bad eyesight and I destroyed it by sitting in front of the pc. Since it isn't caused by a misshaped eyeball can i correct it by doing exercises? Are the muscles that regulate the lens just unable to relax?
Added (1). I had my eye checked at an oculists and it is not misshaped in any way. They said naught of exercises, i just found them on the internet

Contact Rx changed base curve from 8.7 to 8.3. Is this OK?

I went to the eye doctor today and my prescription changed from the following:
Acuvue 2, -4.5, BC 8.7
to
Acuvue Advance, -4.75, BC 8.3.
I am just wondering if the base curve should have been changed. I have worn contacts for almost nine years now and it has never changed, and I have never had to switch the type of contacts from Acuvue 2.Is this Ok, or will I have trouble adjusting to the new ones?

Help finding Dark lens sunglasses?

I am trying to find a pair of sunglasses. I want some that have VERY dark lenses, and aviator style. I don't want people to be able to see my eyes. I have looked on the rayban and Oakley websites and I have looked at places like target and amazon but I don't know if they will be dark enough. I'm going to myrtle beach this from this Friday until next Friday and I want a pair of nice dark lenses.

Also does it matter if the lenses are polarized or not? Will that make the lenses darker?

How to get a more mature, defined face? I'm 18 and look 14?

OK, so I'm 18 but I look around 14-15. I thought cutting my hair short would make me look more mature, but it just made people confuse me with a pre-pubescent boy, lmao. I'm currently growing it out, but it will take a few months to get down to shoulder-length. I hate wearing make-up but feel like I have to to look my age. I have high cheekbones and an OK jawline, but both are hidden by baby fat on my face. I'm at the higher end of a healthy weight.So, here are my questions:

Will losing weight help define my face?

Hi!!! I have brown eyes (like a lot of people that wan't colored contacts), and I wan't to know the truth about colored contacts. Are they safe? What color covers brown eyes best? What brand would you recommend. I have natural blonde hair so I would like green contact lenses (blue looks unnatural and fake with colored contacts IMO, and blue doesn't really cover up brown). Can i watch a 3D movie using 3D glasses while wearing contact lenses?

I wanted to know because i was watching avatar in IMAX 3D and everyone was going crazy about how good it looked and how the 3D was awesome, but i honestly didn't see any 3D, the extended plane 3D just looked like a mess of colors. Why do my sunglasses keep breaking!

So this is the third pair of sunglasses that have broken in the past month! I'll be wearing them and then all of the sudden the lens pops out of the frame because the frame has cracked.It's always the bottom part of the frame under the lens. None of them were cheap glasses. If I come in from outside, I rest them on the top of my head. After that, they sit on my desk at work or at home - I don't keep them in a case because they're either on my head or on a desk where they don't come into contact with anything else that might smash them. Any thoughts? Anyone have similar experiences? Am I just a freak? (Don't answer that!)

What is an ophthalmologist looking at/for when he puts a lens on the patient's eye (after numbing it) and looks at it with a slit lamp? Does that mean he's checking the retina and optic nerve?

How to register as partially sighted in US?

I was diagnosed with a degenerative disease of the cornea which slowly but surely drains my vision and leaves me blind as cells of my cornea die out. The condition is not curable by modern medicine but I went through 2 experimental surgeries that help slow down that process and maybe even stop it.My vision is already pretty impaired though. Normal glasses and contacts cannot fully correct my vision, and I must wear hard lenses that are extremely uncomfortable and at times even painful to wear just to be able to see.my best eye vision is right eye 20/110 but field of vision is only 50 degrees for that eye.the other is 20/180 with normal field of vision. With glasses best they can do is 20/60 for better eye and 20/70 for other.with hard lenses i can still achieve 20/20 20/30 for now but as i said painful and uncomfortable hard lenses make me unable to wear them whole day through leaving me pretty useless in things like reading labels and street signs. Or even knowing where i am going on worse days (cornea changes shape almost daily with my condition and all numbers i gave are those on my good days). I was told by my cornea specialist that it isn't enough to register as legally blind but i can register for other type of visual impairment called partially sighted? How and where do I register for it? Is my normal ophthalmologist supposed to do some kind of a test or do i contact a lawyer to fill out paperwork or what? I live in New York City, and I am 19 years old.

So there was this girl I loved… I first met her in my college and i got a crush on her. I chased after her, stalked her, sneak behind her wherever she went and 6 months just passed like that. I even prepared a song to dedicate to her believing that someday i'll win her heart I will sing it to her and also did video which contains all her photo's and the song that wanted to dedicate to her. I tried ALL kinds of ways to reach out to her, e.g. looked for tips online, watch in youtube and so on. One day I went and talked to her, tried to make friends with her. (on 8th November 2012). The next day when I saw her, she could recognize me and she said "hi..". But we were still not friends yet.As time goes on, she stopped saying "hi.." to me and whenever she walks pass by, she'll never greet me. And three month later (8th February 2012) went and talked to her, told her that I wanna make friend with her, get to know her better, get her phone number and i even asked her out. I texted her, she did not reply, called her once never pick up the phone. Again I called her and this time she answered. All she said was "I got assignments to do, can you call me later?" Then I called her 2 days later, she never answer my call.
Few days i texted her. She replied "who are you?" Then I replied " I'm Kim, remember that day we met?" She stopped texting me the. One day I decided to give up and I told myself "That's enough, Never go after her again." Last thursday, i saw her in college while i was going to class. I just pretended as if she was a stanger to me. On friday, I saw her again but this time i really couldn't recognize her because her hair style has changed, before this she was wearing glasses and now contact lens, totally changed. Gorgeous! :p.
I realized that i still got a "feeling" for her and yesterday while I was in church, all of a sudden something struck my mind and that incident came to my mind. I just couldn't continue worshiping and I sat down for a moment and continued few mins later. I never had this kind of feeling before.
What should I do now?

Are eye measurements included in a regular eye exam?

I need contacts by June 21st and I have a valid prescription for glasses. I want contacts but I'm not sure if I already have the measurements. I would go look at the paper that has my prescription but my mom has it somewhere.

From my understanding, contact lenses are pretty much the same as a glasses prescription just with added measurements for your eye ball.So are eye measurements included in a regular eye exam?

Contact lenses get blurry?

I just got contact lenses about a week ago… I'm a first time user. They feel perfectly fine, fit well, all that stuff. But… They sometimes get blurry and I have to blink a few times for it to clear up. The solution I have cleans and gets rid of those protein deposits so idk what else it could possibly be? When I took out my contact lens from my eye it just folded, Ive tried and it wont unfold and I'm scared of ripping them… Anyone help on how to unfold my contact lense?

How to change my Eye colour from Blue to Green?

I have Blue eyes and I want to have Green Eyes instead.Is there any way to change them from Blue to Green? I don't want to use Contact Lenses and I want an answer that will change my eye colour to Green quickly.

Can I wear non-toric colored contact lenses for astigmatism with my prescription?

My prescription is:
L: -6.00 CYL -1.75 AXIS 010
R: -7.50 CYL -1.25 AXIS 180

I'd like to wear colored contacts for a special event (it will last for a weekend). Will I be able to function normally with colored contacts that are non-toric with my prescription? What would be the problem? Thank you!
Added (1). Just to clarify: My prescription is as listed, and it requires toric lenses (see CYL and AXIS) but will I be able to adjust the prescription in a way that would enable me to wear non-toric lenses and still function normally? Would I be able to do it with just the right eye, which seems less strong of an astigmatism?

Differences between Oakley warm grey and dark grey lenses?

I'm looking to get a pair of Holbrook Oakleys. I tried on a pair at sunglasses hut but it was the warm grey lens. The pair I want has a dark grey lens. From what I can find on the Internet, they both allow the same amount of light (10%) so what are the differences? Is one darker? Do either of them make it so people can't see your eyes? (I know they're not iridium but maybe they're dark enough?)

Contacts? Which to choose?

Hi,

Im 16 years old and am currently Acuvue 1 day moist contacts. While i'm more than happy with them on good days (my eyes themselves aren't the best fit for contacts) Im running out and will soon be getting a new prescription. Since this was my first time, i was put 1 days. However, I'm looking towards the Acuvue Hydraclear; for its breathability and similarness to the 1 days. However, I use BioTrue soultion, am very happy with this, and saw they came out with contacts. Does anyone have suggestions or comments? Please help me! thanks

How much is it to get contact lenses for the first time?

'm 13, and i have had glasses for a few years now but wanted to get contacts, my dad agreed to let me get them if they werent too much. I know the eye exam where i live in canada is 75 dollars, my eyes aren't extremely bad, im just a bit nearsighted. I go to the eye centre called First Choice Vision Center. I wanted to know about how much it would probably be to get the fitted and everything, and how much it would be to get them first at the place. I went online and found cheap contacts for 40 dollars at www.clearlycontacts.ca so i could order them from there after, but i would want to buy my first 6 months (Monthlys) from the eye place. How much are fittings usually? And what are the cheapest brand and kind of contact lenses? Please help!

Can you rinse your contact lenses in water?

I've heard multiple people say that your contacts and water are not a good combination. That it can even cause vision loss in some cases due to an infection you may get. However when I went to my eye doctor and told him how I sometimes felt a stinging in my eyes after putting my contacts in he told me I could help that by rinsing them in water? Am I wrong, is this ok to do? After all he is the doctor but I cant help but be unsure… thanks 1

Contact lens-tap water issue?

I had a bit of tap water on my finger while I was about to put in my contact lens. I didn't put the contact in.My eye doctor said that my contact lenses should never make contact with water.
I put my contact in newly poured solution. Will it be okay to wear? Or should I get another pair. I don't want to get an eye infection from it.My doctor says it'll cause misty eyes, and I could go blind,

Contacts stuck in my eye?

I done did everything I seem on previous answers an the eye drop thing isn't working. I feel asleep in them for a couple days now cause I have 2 different kinds. The one a day an the 30 nights an days.My 30 nights a days one for really dry an I couldn't find my eye drops at the time so I just changed it to the one a day ones. I am really blind an cant sleep that we'll without them in. I forgot I changed them cause the one a day contact lens are just for me during school just in case something happen I got back ups cause I only get the 30 days an night contacts once a month. I been sleeping in the one a day contacts for a few days now. The first couple of days everything was fine. Now I woke up my eyes are blurry I can see a little bit an the contacts won't come out. I've been trying to I drop thing for a day now a no hope. Feel like my vision is getting worst an worst by the minute. What do I do? I do have a car but don't think I'm able to drive myself to the hospital if necessary I do have somebody to. But does anybody know any other way to get them out.

I am too afraid to look hot?

I dress pretty casually, I wear jeans and shirts and sneakers, my hair pulled back in a bun and glasses. I don't wear makeup or anything. I look decent but I am tired of looking decent. I want to look slightly hotter/better meaning, I want contact lenses and my hair down. I want to dress like the Old Navy mannequins.

I am 26 and will be soon be 27 and I have yet to embrace the body that I was given and I want to do that before it gets too late. I feel like such an old hag now that I want to spend the last years of me in my twenties looking good. I want to possibly get into wearing dresses too (minus the heels).

There is a problem. I am awkward. I guess I am kind of like a bookworm but I am attractive. I don't know how to deal with the looks and I don't know how to carry myself in a sexy confident way but I need and want to. I feel by tweaking my style just a bit it will make it easier for me to network. Maybe it might boost my confidence level up, maybe it will help my social life a little.

Wearing my hair down will require me straightening it and I don't really want to do that at least all of the time. I don't know if wearing contacts will be safe for my eyes either.

Any advice on how to change my look, with confidence?
