What to do when you accidentally use water for contact lenses?

Okay so I had two instances. I dropped my lens on the sink and the sink was wet. I'm disinfecting it for now but did that damage my lenses? And I accidently cleaned my lens case with water because I didn't know. Will that damage anything too? I dried it with a towel after wards too. >.< help~~

Blurry contact lens?

On Wednesday I went to get a vision screening, and my eye doctor gave me new contact lens - originally I had -6.00 in the right eye and -5.50 in the left. She upped it to -6.50 in the right eye and -6.00 in the left. However, ever since that appointment (in which she gave me the new lenses to wear) I haven't really been able to see out of my left eye: my vision from that eye alone is blurry and out of focus. Should I contact the eye doctor and ask about it? She said there's an adjustment period, but it's been a few days and it hasn't gotten better.

I've tried flipping the lens, cleaning it, etc. Any other tips? Also, the contact in my left eye is Toric for astigmatism, if that helps at all. Thanks!

Can I switch between glasses and contact lenses every now and then?

I wear contact lenses pretty much every day. The days I dont wear them I wear my glasses and I always wear my glasses when I come home after work.

Is this okay? Is it okay to switch between the two every now and then during every week? Or am I better just sticking to one every day from when I wake up to when I go to sleep?

Can i use biotrue contact len solution for biofinity toric?

i bought my first pair of contact lenses ( biofinity toric) and i collected it today. Since i was in a hurry, i forgot to ask my optician what contact lens solution is suitable. When i thought of the solution, i immediately went to another opitical shop to get since i already leave the place. The salesman over there recommended me biotrue and i bought 2 sets of it (4 bottle of 300ml) which cost me $56… When i get home, i researched more about biotrue and my contact lenses. It's then i realised that the two does not match well together compared to other brands… Can i still use? Or must i throw away and buy new ones? Please help, thanks!

How should I get certain color contacts?

The manufacturer is from Korea, I am interested in their contacts that are Eye Candy, is it safe to buy online that is safe for my eyes and credit card? Can I import safely or can I get one just like it from an American company at an eye store. I don't want eye irritation or eye damage? The difference is a dark boarder on the outside of the lens, the design looks very nice.

PRK or LASEK without prescription from eye doctor?

I haven't been to the eye doctor in a while (yes, I know that's not good). I'm almost nineteen and the last time I got my eyes checked was over a year ago at the pediatrician, and I had 20/40 vision. I do not wear any form of correction lenses.

I was wondering that if my vision got worse, but one eye remained the same, would they allow to get surgery on that one eye without a prescription from the eye doctor? Could I show them my pediatrician records or something? I know that your vision must have remained stable for at least a year, and that was over a year ago.

I'm thinking about going to the eye doctor soon, and I'm worried that my vision may have gotten worse. I don't want to be dependent on anything for my vision, and so I would like to get surgery as soon as possible. I don't mind being dependent on contact lenses for a year or two, but it would be nice if I could avoid that.

Thank you in advance.

CONTACT LENSES IN SHOWER?

Hi. Earlier on I took a quick shower in which I avoided getting my head under the water because I still had my contact lenses in (monthlies). But now I'm so scared because I'm not sure if some water splashed in my eyes and I've heard that this can result in amoeba getting stuck between the lense and eye surface, then it burrows into the eye and can cause infection/blindness!

I didn't take the lenses out for 4 hours after my quick shower. So, if a spray of water did get in my eyes am I at great risk?
Would amoeba be able to burrow after just 4 hours? Advice please! Thanks x

Irritated eyes, from make up?

I only use mascara, and try to remove it very good everynight. I first had an oly remover which was way to oly, so I'm searching for a new eyemake-up remover (any suggestions? ^^)
Everyday I wake up my eyes hurt a bit or it feels like there's a bit of sand in them. (They are not swollen or itchy)
I also wear one-day contact lenses, from Bausch & Lomb. (Maybe I wear them a bit too much. Since my school is longer then the recommended time using them)
Could this be my remover/make-up or lenses?
Thank you! :D

Prescribed colored contacts without eye issues?

I have nothing wrong with my eyes (as I know of) so I don't believe I need corrective lenses. But I'd like to have a pair of colored contacts. I was wondering can an eye doctor just prescribe you non-corrective colored contacts which fits your eyes and is less harmful than "beauty supply store/decorative" lenses. Or are the effects the same of prescribed and non prescribed colored lenses with no eye correction needed? What is the estimated price of getting non-corrective colored contact lenses from a licensed eye doctor if it is possible?

How much does vision therapy cost?

Let me just start out by saying that I know that it's gonna be expensive. I'm well aware. Anyhow, the problem I have is that when I was three, I had surgery to fix esotropia in my left eye. In the past four or five years, that same eye has started drifting outward. I read that vision therapy as well as other methods such as prism lenses can help me to fix my problem. But around how much would it cost to do so? Also, the same eye has very poor vision. Would that effect the treatment at all?

I can't see well without my glasses?

but i hate wearing them and can't get on with contact lenses. I tried them and ended up in the ER twice where i was to be verbally as well as physically abused by an ill-bred, eastern european doctor (he stuck an unsterile q-tip behind my eyeball and inside the socket, ultimately leaving me with green puss leakage and many other severe symptoms of infection) and called me distressing names such as "four-eyed frog" and "ugly, gross patient". After a friend's horrific experience where he lost many toes with laser eye surgery, i couldn't gather the bravery to go through with the procedure!
my mom always said my glasses hid my astonishing beauty and i think it's reasonable to presume this has psychologically scarred me to believing i'm not as stunning with my glasses. Now i'm matured and wiser in my ways, i establish that mom was using such comments to subtlety delude me into not wanting to wear them, so she could spend the saved money on unessential luxuries such as candles and poetry books to display on the kitchen counter!

Is my contact lens prescription too high (prescription included)?

Ok, so here's my prescription for my contacts:
Left: +0.75 -0.75 180
Right: +0.75 -0.75 170

I've got mild hyperopia and some astigmatism

My glasses were prescribed on July 2013, and are currently giving me a headache, because I have to strain my vision in order to focus on nearby things. The prescription was:
Left +0.25 -0.75 180
Right +0.25 -0.75 170

I got my contacts for the first time last thursday. At the beginning everything was kinda fine. The past two days, while wearing my contacts, I've been having trouble recognizing people at 30 ft away from me, and I see them kinda blurry (as someone myopic would see them); when I read, I see some vertical blur, but if I get closer (to whatever I'm reading) it gets clear. Is like my hyperopia turns into a slight myopia with my contacts on.

I think there's something wrong on the prescription. What could it be?

Do my contact lenses have a stronger prescription than needed?

I'm 27 yo. I have slight hyperopia, and slight astigmatism.

The graduation of the glasses I got on July 2013 was the following:
L +0.25 spherical 0.75 cylinder 180
R +0.25 sph 0.75 cylinder 170
My glasses started giving me a headache when I had to read or work at the computer, and I had to squint slightly in order to focus on nearby things,

I just got toric contact lenses, Acuvue Oasys, and the prescription is
L +0.75 spherical 0.75 cylinder 180
R +0.75 sph 0.75 cylinder 170

The problem is that now, with this graduation, when I get a little bit tired I'm seeing things like a myopic person. I have to get close to what I'm reading in order to focus, and I can't distinguish faces at ~30ft, which I could with my glasses. I'm thinking that maybe the prescription might be stronger than what I needed (either that, or I switched my left and right contacts when I stored them in the case, which I tried switching back yesterday, but I'm still seeing the same).

I Really Want To Join The Military?

Hey!

I have always been a little interested in the Military, especially the Royal Marines.

Recently I have taken more of an interest in it. And I now Really want to do it, I do not know why but I feel like if I do not go for it now then I will regret it later on in life! I want the adventure, the camaraderie, and experiences these guys go through everyday.

I have taken a big interest in the Royal Marines and the RAF Regiment… At first I wanted to be an RAF firefighter but can not pursue this as I need glasses/contact lenses.

So this is my question, why do the Royal Marines get classed as the best, and the elite, and why do the RAF Gunners get classed as fake soldiers/wannabes? My Grandad served 3 years in the regiment and he loved it, my uncle served 22 years in the regiment so it could not have been that bad!

It seems like the people who have a poor opinion of the Regiment are those who have either never had any Military experiences or people who are Royal Marines or Infantry:(.

Any insight would be great, what does the RAF Regiment do? Do they see much action these days?

thank you:).

Is this an incorrect prescription for my contact lenses?

I'm 27 yo. I had a prescription of +0.25 Sph on both eyes, and +0.75 on both, for astigmatism on my reading glasses, and lately they started giving me a headache, I got them on July 2013.

I just got some contact lenses and the prescription is +0.75 sph and +0.75 cyl on both.

The problem is that they give me a slightly blurry vision. Some days they give me a headache, but it feels different than the one from my reading glasses. Also it's kinda hard for me to read text on a book or on my computer screen with my contacts, It looks unfocused vertically (according to the prescription, the left eye cyl. Orientation is 180, and the right eye 170).

Is the prescription too high? Too low? Should I visit a different optometrist or ophtalmologist for an opinion?
Added (1). Note: With my contacts I have to get closer in order to read text. With my normal vision (without any lenses or glasses) I have to get away from the text in order to read it (hyperopia).

With my old glasses, I have to get a bit away, or squint in order to see, which gives me the head ache.
Added (2). Well, I'm not sure if the cylinder is + or -. I know it's 0.75. And the contact lenses I'm wearing are toric.
Added (3). I'm citing the prescription from what I remember. I'm currently at my office, and the box for the remaining lenses are back home.

Blurry spot in vision with reading glasses?

I have just got reading glasses and they have one specific spot on the left lens where it looks blurry. They are brand new and not damaged or scratched. It just seems like a more opaque spot in the middle of my vision.

If it makes any difference I have an astigmatism in the left eye.

What could it be? Surely my vision should be perfect with the lenses.

What type of rock is this, is it a limestone?

The rock material in the bottom layer is light colored â€Â" not exactly white but more buff or beige. You canâ€Â™t discern any specific minerals or grains. Itâ€Â™s fairly hard, but you can break it off pretty easily with the hammer so it isnâ€Â™t extremely hard. The edges of the broken rock are fairly sharp and solid, but you can readily break off the sharp corners by hitting it against the rock face. You canâ€Â™t rub or scrape off any particles with your hand or fingernail, and it doesnâ€Â™t feel sandy or gritty, but fairly smooth. You are able to scrape it with your metal hammer, and you find that it does not scratch the glass on your watch face. You look at your rock sample from all sides, but donâ€Â™t notice any differences no matter which way it is turned. It is basically a solid buff or beige colored rock, with no visible crystals, no fossils, no other distinctive features, and it doesnâ€Â™t seem to have a preference where it breaks â€Â" itâ€Â™s chunky, not flat. When you look at it through the handy magnifying lens you wear on a necklace, it looks like there may be tiny crystals, but they are too fine-grained to be seen with the naked eye. You test the rock with the acid from the bottle in your other pocket, and it fizzes.

Based on the above description would the rock be limestone that is being described here?

About glasses, do these make sense for native speakers?

There is some space we can't see, especially under eyes, that glasses can't cover. This is really uncomfortable, so I chose contact lenses.

Concerned about my poor vision?

I'm a teenage girl and no one (absolutely no one) in my family has ever had bad eyesight. Over the past few weeks, I noticed my vision deteriorating so I got a glasses and contacts exam and here are the results:

Right Eye: -1.25 -0.25 Axis 180
Left Eye: -1.50

Left eye visual acuity: 20/200 (my parents were quite shocked by this)

Right eye: 20/80

The optometrist's assistant said my prescription was 'slight'. He made jokes about how weak it is, but when I wore the trial lenses, they made a world of a difference.

Because no one's ever worn glasses in my family before, I don't have a baseline for how dependent I am on correction. The contacts I wore in the trial helped a lot, but the assistant's comments made me feel like they might not be necessary at this stage.

Can someone who has experience with bad vision please provide some 'clarity' (pun intended).
Added (1). Emily, I was actually seeing pretty well with a -1.00 in the right eye. I think that the doctor initially wanted to keep that eye's prescription at -1.00 but I preferred -1.25 in the subjective trials. On the flip side, my left eye was pretty close to -1.75 but the doctor decided I was seeing well enough with -1.50. The astigmatism in the right eye was ignored for my contacts.
Added (2). Footprintz, I could only see the 'E'.

Returning a pair of glasses to Visionworks? - 1

I bought a pair of glasses, which is still in the 30 day money back guarantee period. I want to return them because, at the time they convinced me to get the best glare resistance package. (It was suppose to be easy to clean.a plus with having a 1 year old. Also, I see these weird rainbows out of the corners of my eyes, which is worse when I put sunglasses on top. It is not my eyes because I can see the rainbow when I take the glasses off and look at the lens. I find it very distracting, especially when driving.

Does a will override property deed ownership?

in california,

my Dad signed over half of his single family home to me.
I am on legal title as equal owners with rights of survivor ship).

my problem now is that my sister made a video tape of my Dad
several years ago, that upon his death, the half of the house that I now own with him be given to my sister too.
She told me that i would get half the house, it's on video tape and I would at least have a place to stay… But not own for my own through inheritance.

So if my dad passes away, does the video taped Will, "over" ride the legal gifted deed for the house? And then my sister would then legally own the other half of the house?

some background,

Years ago, My dad also sign over to my sister a whole apartment house which she has complete ownership for the last 10 years(legal title).

The apartment house is worth a lot more than the house (40% more), and was paid off in total, for (from taking out a line of credit on the single family house!

Pretty conniving and sinister i must say, my sibling also had bad past and felony arrests years back so really has no problem trying to cheat out other in the family for the money.

i have been working honestly, with a good job where I work hard, and have no criminal past.

I've given loans of over 50k to this sibling in the past when she had financial troubles no questions asked. I this get back in return, so, can you help with some good advice before I run to my nearest good real estate tax attorney?
Added (1). thanks for the responses.
let me be more clear.

i recall now that my sister said I would always have My share of the house, and that my Dad's half of ownership be willed via a video to my sister. So the house would be 50/50 owned by my Sister is probate decides in favor of my sibling? That's what I'm worried about, signed, sleepless in bay area.
Added (2). I would add one more, these are great answers. I do have Joint tenants in Common with rights of survivor ship, so that makes me feel better.

The only remaining doubt I have is that my sibling also may have a written Will unbeknownst to everyone else, that they have had my Dad write on top of their existing Will which is out dated. If so,
would a written will that wills his half of our house be valid in a court, probate after death?
I will be consulting my inheritance real estate attorney

Why does my eye contact keep moving when I blink?

I bought a pair of blue coloured eye contacts last month from a local store. The contact lenses are certified by the various medical associations (although I can't remember their names), and I even double-checked them online. They're safe, and a few of my friends have used similar ones from the same place without hassle.

For the past month, I've been wearing them every so often (I'm trying to make my eyes get used to them for Comic Con in September) without any real problems. They go in my eye, I blink a few times, pat my eyelids to make sure they're adjusted, and they fit perfectly fine. No problems (apart from an ever so slight cloudiness at either side of my vision, but I'm told that's normal). But since last week, I put them in, and the contact on my left eye felt Really uncomfortable. I cleaned it, made sure it wasn't damaged, and put it back in. It went in, still felt uncomfortable. I blinked, and noticed that it was kind of trying to slide off my iris. It kept jolting up diagonally by about half a centimeter, then would go back into place. Every time I blink it moves, which it never did before, and it's really uncomfortable. Does anyone know why this is? It's just suddenly started happening and I don't know why. I've stopped wearing them since the problem began.

I've seen people ask this sort of question before, but it's usually been under different circumstances to my current situation, so I thought I'd ask again. Thanks for reading.

Is my prescription too low for contact lenses? - 1

So my left eye is -0.75 and my right is -0.5. So, I usually only use my glasses for TV, school etc. I asked my parents to switch to contacts and they agreed but I was wondering if this prescription is too low. Not to mention I haven't had my eyes checked in about 8 months (since I first got glasses) so it might have changed.

Thanks! :)

What would be a good brand and magnification of scope?

For hunting white tail deer. I was thinking of getting a 6x scope, but I also do not know any good brands. It's going to be my first time hunting and i'd rather not put too much money into it. So what are some good but cheaper scopes?

Also is a 6x enough? I know the 3-9x variable seems pretty popular, would you recommend that instead? Or is 6x too many, and you could easily use a 4x scope?

Will colored contact lenses cover what you see?

I have been thinking about getting contacts during some time in my life. People ask me about them all the time and they also advise me to get brown ones because I have brown eyes and also the fact that they are colored makes them easier to find if I drop them. I have been believing that it is a good idea, but I am worried if the colored shade will cover what I will see because they are not transparent and that when I think that I would put them on will cover what I see with the brown shade. Would the shade cover up anything I see?

Dogs eyes glazing over, is there any way I can help/stop the effects?

Hi,

My dog is 5 years old and his lens is starting to go a translucent blue, unfortunately I know it's a thing of age, but I thought it's worth asking anyway; Is there any way I can help slow down the effects, such as eye drops and things of that nature?

Can I wear non-toric lenses for cosmetic reasons without them hurting my eyes?

I want to get cosmetic lenses, but I am unsure since my prescription is for toric lenses. Will they get stuck in my eyes or harm my eyes in anyway?

Blurry vision in left eye while wearing contacts?

I wear my contacts every day. Sometimes, though, it seems like my left eye begins to get blurrier and blurrier all the time. I have astigmatism in my right eye so the right contact is thicker than the other but it doesn't really bother me…

Anyway, whenever I notice blurriness in my left eye, I take the contact out and look at it. It's always dirty, somehow, inside of the lens. In fact, when I took it out and cleaned it earlier today, it was clear for only a couple of hours before the blurriness is back. I really noticed the difference as I was driving home earlier due to the glare of the road signs from the headlights of my car.

Anyone know what can be done to help keep this lens clean or have an idea on how it's getting dirty under it like that? I am due for a contact change in the next few days.

I take them out every night and change them every 15th of the month. I've never left them in for more than 18 hours straight…

Any ideas?

Best mascara for super sensitive eyes?

I have very very very sensitive eyes and I wear hard contact lenses. MASCARAs always make my eyes super red and bloodshot. I need a very good mascara for sensitive eyes.
I've tried maybelline, loreal. Buxom, benefit, essence, prestige cosmetics,
Lancôme deficils, tarte, korres
I heard clinique is good, I use their face products, but I've tried their MASCARAs and they do NOTHING to my eyelashes

I have super short straight stubby eyelashes, so I need something that keeps it curled, lengthens, not so much volumize but just very gentle to the eyes
Cost doesn't matter thank you(:
