Fewer lens options at -3.25?

I've been at -2.75 in both eyes for a long time but I had to get up to -3.25 at my latest exam.

I'm trying to buy glasses online but the companies are forcing me to pay for the expensive lenses and won't let me buy the regular 1.5 index lenses that I used for my last pair.

Why such a huge difference in options between -2.75 and -3.25?
Added (1). It doesn't let me override at -3.25. I tried -3.00 to check and it allows me to override at that rx but not at -3.25. The cheaper lenses are "not available" for my rx…

Can I pick if I want bi-weekly contacts?

I have an eye exam scheduled later today for contact lenses. I haven't worn contacts since sophomore year in high school. I'm 25 now and wearing 5 year old glasses. I don't remember which brand or type of contacts I used to wear, except that they were for astigmatism. My problem is money. I'm a single father of a 4 year old now and I could use a lot more of it. The struggle is real right now as they say. Which ties into my question. So my question is, would it be possible for me to tell the doctor I NEED contacts that are the "2 week" contacts? After comparing prices online from multiple outlets and speaking to my friends who wear contacts, it has been brought to my attention that the "single use" daily contacts, for whichever brand (as long as they are for astigmatism) are simply too expensive for me to afford. I have noticed boxes of contacts are cheaper for "2 week or bi-weekly" contacts. Is it possible for me to tell the doctor that and hope they take that into consideration? Or will he/she prescribe me whatever they choose, for example and possibly (1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST for ASTIGMATISM 90 pack) for 80-90 bucks a box, (Which I can't afford) when I could afford something like (Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism 6 pack, 3 months) for 30-40 bucks a box depending where I shop from. Please help with any info anyone can share. I'm kind of scared of even paying for an eye exam if at the end they prescribe me a type of lens I can't even afford, such as the single use contacts. Thanks.

Fairly new to wearing contact lenses. Can anyone advise if it's likely to still be in my eye?

Fairly new to wearing contact lenses. Was removing them one evening and I blinked as I did so but couldn't find the lens on the floor/me but also couldn't find It in my eye. I can't feel anything so don't think it is stuck and my opticians wanted to charge me £20 to have a quick look!

Is it possible to have a lens stuck without seeing or feeling it? Have had a good look around, washed eye out, massaged my eyelid etc.

Thanks in advance

Why would my Daughter s vision be going blurry all of a sudden?

In July my 9 year old daughter saw a optometrist and was given basically the same prescription for glasses she has had for a few years. I pointed out that her eye kept turning and he kind of brushed it off. Well she has Amblyopia (Lazy eye) and Eye turning is common with this but hers kind of came on suddenly over a month period she had never had it before and I have known about the lazy eye since she was 3.

For the first few years, I had trouble getting her to wear the glasses but at around age 7 she started wear them more frequently and now wears them all the time except for baths/swimming and bed.

I took her to an Ophthalmologist who gave her a stronger lens prescription and said to follow up in a couple months and if there's still the eye turning problem we may have to patch. We got her new glasses within a week of seeing the ophthalmologist.

it's been almost 2 months (Her Appointment is Dec 27th) and the last few days she says her eyes keep going blurry with and without her glasses and she can't see right. I have noticed that when she takes her glasses off, she is squinting more than she ever has before.

I mean I have a lazy eye and it wanders, but they caught mine at age 12/13 and really couldn t fix it my right eye is good so I don't even use glasses as they give me headaches, and make me dizzy. So I'm not to sure what may be going on with her vision.

I called and they will see her this Thursday morning, What could be causing this? Anyone with any experience?

If my glasses prescription has an ADD power, how will it be added to the lens?

I'm nearsighted (-4.00, -2.00) and my new prescription has an add power of +. 75. I was told that this is for reading/seeing close up. What I don't understand is how this affects the lenseds; will they make me look bug-eyed?

When I tried on reading glasses in CVS, my eyes looked huge. Will prescription glasses with +.75 do the same thing?

Or will they be like bifocals with a line?

I was also told that I can omit the add power when having glasses made.

Are Contacts Actually Dangerous?

I want to do something different and try contact lenses. I know people buy them all the time but in my community elders would always use scary myths and stories to warn us against using them (like that they're made in really unsanitary places, generally dangerous, etc.) are most contact lenses really dangerous for the eye or is there something I should look out for if I choose to get some (like how you should avoid "x" chemicals in some skin products even though they claim to be good?)
Added (1). I mean colored contacts, not just ones to help with vision.

Why don't they make flexible IOL for multifocal vision?

Inter Ocular Lens's replace the eye's natural lens for people with cataracts or age related vision deterioration.

The latest technology has a multi focal lens construction, made of rings. This allows the main vision area to have both up close and distant vision at once. The brain learns to use this information to see clearly without the use of glasses.

However, because part of your vision is now used for up close and part for distant vision. There's less light available for vision processing and so your vision may appear dimmer.

My question is, the eye muscles do not deteriorate with age. It is the flexible lens that becomes stiffer, so the muscles can't adjust it's shape as well as they did when you were younger. So why not replace the body's natural flexible lens, with an artificial flexible lens?

Surely medical technology must be getting close to being able to achieve this? We're starting to see 3D body part printing, highly sophisticated mechanical and electrical replacements.

Why not develop a fix for age related eye deterioration that affects everyone in the world? With billions of people needing this surgery, the company that develops this solution would make incalculable amounts of money.

I worn contact lenses that have been sitting there for probably over 1 year and the solution expired about 7 months ago?

I worn them and they felt fine, nothing out the ordinary, felt annoying but i had that when i used to wear them months ago anyway, i had them in my eyes for about 10 minutes maybe 15 minutes at most and then i took them out and i realised the solution has expired and so has the lenses, then i googled it and it says i could get an eye infection and solution is bad to use after expiry date cause it turns more alkaline or something, so I'm wondering if i worn them long enough to get an eye infection and how long would it take to start to get symptoms of an eye infection, they looked and felt fine when wearing though, no burning no nothing my eyes at the moment feel ever so slightly warm but i think i had that anyway when i used to wear them ages ago after taking them out, and now I'm just panicking that'll i will go blind, any answers would be good rn:/

Why do my eyes hurt after LASIK?

I had LASIK on 6-20-18. Everything started out great but this past month things have taken a turn for the worse. My eyes are in pain all the time and it feels like outward bulging burning pressure on them sometimes. The worst symptom I have is it feels like they're strained all the time like you're looking through a really high prescription lens that you can't take off.

When I put on my old glasses or contacts it relieves the strain for some reason. I told the place where I had my LASIK done at that my eyes feel over stimulated since day one of the surgery. They didn't say anything.

I went to my local clinic and he prescribed me "Flourometholone" for the pain which has helped a lot.

I just need to get rid of this strain feeling that I have all the time.

I'm thinking of just ordering some low power contacts and wearing them all the time to relieve this strain pain that's very negatively effecting my quality of life.

Have had allergic conjunctivitis for almost a month now?

I woke up about a month ago with red, crusted shut eyes. I immediately went to the doctor and they told me bacterial pink eye so they gave me eye drops for that. I finished the antibiotic, ceased contact lenses and eye makeup, and my eyes were NOT crusting anymore but still red. I went back to the doctor because they were burning and irritated. They then told me allergic conjunctivitis, which isn't completely surprising because I've always suffered from awful allergies. They prescribed me Pazeo and my eyes are a little less red, but it's still there. I'm starting to become impatient and wondering if my eyes are ever going to return to normal because it's been a month. Can I possibly start wearing makeup again? Or will I recontaminate?

Why do my new glasses feel so different? Can going from progressives to regular lenses make everything look warped and far away?

I just new glasses for the first time in four years. My prescription apparently only changed slightly in the past four years. My old prescription was right eye -6.50 sphere and no cylinder/axis, and my left eye -5.25 sphere with -1.25 cylinder and 170 axis. They were also progressive lenses with a +1.00 add.
I went to a new doctor and my prescription stayed the same except my left eye went from -5.25 to -5.00. The other numbers are the same as my last prescription. Is -5.00 better or worse than -5.25? But also these new lenses aren't progressives, they are just regular lenses. Can that make a huge difference? I'm not sure why this doctor didn't make them progressives. But with these new lenses, everything looks really off. Everything looks a lot farther away and much smaller, and on the outside edges everything looks warped. Things farther away do look a little bit sharper, but actually closer things seem to be the tiniest bit blurrier, especially text, I think because it looks smaller. And the ground looks farther away, sometimes the ground in front of me, especially sidewalks, look like they have a small hill/upright bump on them directly in front of me. Is this all because they aren't progressives? They're giving me a headache and I just can't seem to adjust to the new lenses. Is that small 0.25 difference in my prescription enough to disorient me this much? I've had glasses almost my whole like but I don't ever remember adjusting to new ones feeling this off.

What if I don't soak my rgp lenses after I clean them?

I cleaned my lenses at about 11AM in the morning and left them to sit in the case until about 9:50PM without the hard lenses solution. I know I'm not supposed leave them to dry like that, but I foolishly forgot to soak them in a solution. When I went to put on my lenses, the lenses were somewhat sticking to the case. I then attempted to take the right lense out, but then I heard somewhat of a cracking sound. I saw that my contact had this crack appearance. I then just panicked and placed my contact back into the case and soaked it in hard lense solution. I came back a minute later to check on the contacts and saw that the crack was gone. Was it just the outline of the solution from when I cleaned my lense or is the crack just not visible. I would like if someone could help because I don't wanna pay $400 to replace the lenses…

Doctor advertising daily disposable contacts as monthly disposable?

I've been wearing the same contact lenses for years (Bausch + Lomb soft lens 38) and found out today that they're can either be daily or weekly disposable, but my eye doctor has never mentioned that to me and instead told me they're monthly disposable. I have been wearing these contacts as monthly disposables for 8+ years without knowing that they're actually not monthly disposable. I only go to this eye doctor because I thought this place is a lot cheaper than most places (probably because they advertise daily disposables as monthly disposables). Will this cause any damage to my eyes and is the eye doctor purposely giving the wrong instructions to attract more clients to their "cheaper" contacts?

I'm a 25 year old woman and I always was interested and admired this firm, so I'm very happy to work there in any capacity.

I work as a personal assistant to a woman, I'm always next to her office whenever she needs something

I admire her very much, she is a great woman, in her 40s, she is professional and good at her job, I like how she wears these power trouser suits etc

I never wanted to work somewhere I'm not liked, so I don't know if she likes me or not

She is kind to me, always calls me 'my dear'

Whenever she goes for lunch, she goes to a special nice restaurant and always insists I go with her, I assumed it was about work bit she just talks to me about anything.

I catch her smiling at me, recently I was typing a letter, she was dictating to me and when I looked up, she was standing there smiling at me, then after a moment, she carried on.

I have to attend meetings with her, I have to take notes for her, and I saw her smiling at me, during the meeting,

It was a work formal recently too and i wore a red gown and she whispered to me 'you look stunning my dear'

Also I have always worn glasses but I have now started wearing contact lenses, she realised and said I had nice eyes

I'm studying for a degree that I hope eventually will help me get a really good job with this firm or another branch of the firm, and she herself has this degree (diploma is in her office) and has offered to help me with it, if I came to her house. Is that OK?

Does my Boss like me?

I'm 24 year old woman and I work as an assistant in an office.

I have one boss, who I'm personal assistant to.

I admire her very much, she is a good person but incredibly professional and good at business and always looks professional in trouser suits etc.

I never want to work somewhere I'm not liked, I'm not sure of her opinion.

For instance, she always calls me 'my dear' always polite, she is older than me, in her mid 40s.

Also she smiles at me a lot, for instance recently, she was dictating a letter to me and I typed it up, when I was typing an. I looked up and she was stood there smiling at me, then just continued with her letter.

She did compliment me, I wore glasses for a long time, but in recently got contact lenses, she noticed I no longer wore glasses and said 'you have nice eyes' I guess she hadn't noticed when I wore the glasses.

She insists I have lunch with her, she goes to eat at a nice restaurant at lunchtime and she insists I go with her to eat, sometimes she wants to talk work, but she does chat about herself and asks about me.

I have been to her house once, she lives alone but the reason I went was because she had left some papers at work, for something she needed to do at hone, so I went to her house and gave them to her, she actually called me to do that, she did invite me in for a drink however afterward.

Does she like me? Is she didn't like me would she say so or if my work isn't good enough, but she has never said anything.

What changes can I expect from switching back to wearing glasses from contact lenses after 8+ years?

I've always had bad eyes, so I would only wear contacts when I go out to avoid wearing thick lens glasses. A couple months ago I finally decided to get a new pair of glasses that best fit my style and I've been wearing it most of the time now.

Throughout the 8 years, I've had a few eye problems and tears. Now I'm wondering what types of healing or changes are happening underneath it all.

Should I get an optometrist's permission before trying out contact lenses?

I've been steering clear of contacts my whole life because I suffer with dry eyes. However, I've found this new brand of lenses online that claim to work well with dry eyes and if I pay for an appointment with an eye doctor, I feel like they'd say exactly what I'm expecting: "Try them out for a while and see if you feel any discomfort."

I realize that learning how to put them in would be an issue at first, but I have many different resources to help me learn; (family, friends, the internet, etc.)

Will Corneal Neovascularization go away?

So I just got some Air Optix Aqua Night and Day contact lenses, wore them for 2 nights and my eyes had red veins showing and were very irritated. I took them out and gave my eyes a break but its been about 3 days and the veins have not gone away. The veins aren't in my corneas but they're in the white parts of my eyes. Will they ever go away or have I just grown some ugly red veins that are permanently in my eyes now?

Why do people generally not question when a mexican girl says racist things about white girls? - 1

She's a young Mexican American girl half caucasian/hispanic and she presents herself as being kind and sweet but she is always saying pessimistic things about herself and others and she's very judgemental.
She says she hates white girls because they think they're better than her and they're all bullies. Even though she is half white because her father is a white man with an english background.
She preaches about how mexican/latin women are the prettiest. And white girls won't age as well as her and she'll get the last laugh. YET she dyes her naturally dark hair blonde and wears blue fashion contacts every single day (non prescription) to hide her brown eyes. Her eyes are so dark that when she wears the contacts it looks like she has huge dilate pupils because the blue iris part of the contact is so small. She says dark brown eyes are "disgusting". She won't even sleep over at her boyfriends because she'd have to take the lenses off and he'd see her eyes aren't blue…
She also wears the standard white girl uniform black leggings, a long tunic and ugg boots. Yet she reiterates… She hates white people especially white girls and they're all evil and ugly…

If a white girl said these things about a mexican girl she would be racist. If a mexican girl says this about white girls she's a victim of oppression who is just speaking up for herself.

Is there different ways to put in contacts?

I've been putting contacts in by pulling my bottom and upper eye lid down and tilting my head forward and downwards, then put my contacts beneath my iris and blink slowly to let it slide in.

My contacts often dries out in my eyes and I always have difficulties blinking.

Today I asked my mom for help and she told me to look as far down as possible and she pulled up my upper eyelid more than she did to my bottom lid and she just put in the lens and told me to blink after 3 seconds. Now this time, it was with the same brand and type of contact lenses and it didn't dry up

How is this? Why is there a different in putting contacts in?

Dry eyes in contact lenses? - 2

Last year I bought the ones with diameter of 14.2 Acuvue 1 day lenses, it fits well, and very comfortable as if I wasn't wearing anything in my eyes. I remember first times I wear them, I had dry eyes and then I eventually got used to it and it become very comfortable to wear

This year I bought 1 day acuvue moist with lacreon which are said to contain wetting feature that keeps my eyes from drying out. This time I bought the ones with the diameter of 14.5. I've been wearing them for a week now and everyday I struggle with dry eyes and a bit redness in my eyes the ENTIRE day and it was a total torture. I'm very frustrated because these are actually more expensive and I bought a lot of them.

Yes I do tried eye drops. And I do soak my lenses over night before wearing it the next day like doctor mentioned.

Can anyone tell me why is this happening? Is it because the diameter is .3 mm bigger? What can I do to get rid of this dry eye problem?

(I can't return these lenses since I always by these lenses from Taiwan)
(Yes these r prescribed from my doctor, why would I just go in a store and buy whatever I see anyways?)

I have astigmatism and was last prescribed non-toric lenses about 4 years ago. It is time for me to have another exam soon.

Why would my Ophthalmologist recommend a bad optical store to have my eyeglasses made?

I go to an Opthalmologist every few years for an eye exam. Since he is an Ophthalmologist and not an Optometrist, he doesn't sell eyeglasses. He just writes a prescription and I have to go to an optical store and have them make the glasses. Well, when I he prescribed me eyeglasses several years ago, I went to a Pearle Vision to have the glasses made. When he found out during my next checkup that I had them made over there, he wasn't happy. He told me to never go to chains because they tend to do a very bad job. So, a few years later, when my prescription changed, I listened to him and had the new prescription done at a non-chain optical store that he personally recommended himself. I had one pair of eyeglasses made and one pair of sunglasses made there. Well, it didn't take very long for the sunglasses to have issues. The lens kept falling off the frames. And few years later, the coating on the regular eyeglasses started to wear away. Two fails! I've NEVER had these issues when I used to go to Pearle Vision to have them made.

So why would my Ophthalmologist recommend this terrible non-chain optical store instead of Pearle Vision, which has always done a great job with my glasses in the past?

Are contact lens manufacturers running a scam?

I'm a fairly new contact user (been 6 months). My optometrist asked me to throw away the lenses every month and break open a new pair from the boxes. Did this for the first two months. Then on, I've been using the same pair for 4 months- and I have absolutely no problems at all. The lenses are performing very well, I can see distant objects just as clearly as I do with my glasses. I don't have any eye pain or anything of that sort. This experience makes me believe the manufacturers are running a scam so they can sell more lenses. I don't blame my optometrist, I've known him for a long time and he won't try to scam me- he's just repeating what's written on the box, and that writing is from Bausch and Lomb…

Is it normal for an optometrist to prescribe a patient contact lense prescriptions that vary between astigmatism and non-astigmatism?

Basically I'm not sure if I'm comfortable wearing toric lenses. I have astigmatism in one eye and have tried toric lenses before and I can't stand wearing them. I'm still in the trial phase and did not like the Acuvue lenses and am still waiting for my Avaira Vitality trial lenses to arrive. A non-toric lense for my left eye was ordered, as well as a toric lense to see which one was more comfortable/clearer. My optometrist gave me two prescriptions for Avaira Vitality and Avaira Vitality Toric which are as follows: 1st prescription (non-astigmatism lenses for both eyes) Right: Power -3.00, Cylinder -0.00, Axis 000, Base Curve 8.40, and Diameter 14.20.
Left: Power -4.00, Cylinder -0.00, Axis 000, Base Curve 8.40, and Diameter 14.20.
2nd prescription (astigmatism in left eye) Right: Power -3.00, Cylinder -0.00, Axis 000, Base Curve 8.40, and Diameter 14.20.
Left: Power -3.00, Cylinder -0.75, Axis 160, Base Curve 8.50, and Diameter 14.50.

For those who have tried Avaira Vitality contact lenses, what has been your experience wearing these contact lenses?

I'm trying out contact lenses after over 5 years of not using them, so I'm trying to find the right contact lenses for me.

So far I have tried the Acuvue Oasys contact lenses and I just did not like the way they felt on my eyes. I also tried the Acuvue Vita lenses and while those were fine, I did not like that they were monthly disposables. I'm now trying the Biofinity contact lenses and I like these a lot better, but these are also monthly disposables.

I was thinking of switching to Avaira Vitality contact lenses instead and was wondering what people's experiences were using these lenses?

I prefer to use bi-weekly lenses which is why I'm considering these lenses. I just can't seem to make monthly disposable lenses last.

Is it necessary to wear toric/astigmatism contact lenses? I find them uncomfortable and makes my eyesight blurry and out of focus?

I'm wearing contacts for the fist time in 5 years and never had to wear toric lenses before. I only have to wear lenses in one eye and that eye does not seem to be able to focus and my vision gets blurry in that eye as well. My prescription for my left eye is (SPH) -3.50, (CYL) -1.00, and Axis 152. On my right eye I was prescribed the following: (SPH) -2.75, (CYL) -.50, and Axis 125, and I was prescribed a regular contact lens for this eye and not a toric lense. So can I just wear non-toric lenses for both eyes?

Sunglass clips with prescription lenses to boost distance power?

This is a bizarre question: i have a pair of armani acetate frames. My prescription was done so it favors close up work but it is just a bit weak for distance (the difference between the two is only about a half point to 3/4 point but it is detectable by me). My frames have as an option a pair of sunglass clips. Could these clips be made with the increased power difference to use for distance? Or does the separate lenses throw off the prescription?
i'm thinking you'd ideally need to have both lenses fit tightly against each other--
any opinion would be helpful. Thanks!

btw my prescription is roughly -6 to -7 with a bit of astigmatism in each eye

I got prescription eye glasses and I don't see any difference while wearing them. Everything looks the same. What could be the reasons why?

I got them today. They are for distance. It is my first time getting glasses. I never seen anything blurry or hard to really read before so I thought it was odd that I needed them. But when I put them on, nothing looks easier to see or any difference at all when I put them on or take the glasses off. I looked at a lot of things to try to see if I could see it better and it still all looked the same. My mom and the person at the for eyes didn't get why I couldn t see the difference and I don't know why either. They said there's the prescription lenses in there. I'm going to still wear them for a couple weeks to see and test it out. Is there a reason why there's no difference in my vision while wearing the glasses? Could there be an explanation? Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks.

Has anyone tried Biomedics Toric/Biomedics 55 Premier contact lenses? What is your experience with these contact lenses?

I'm trying out contact lenses after over 5 years of not using them. I've been an eyeglasses wearer and have gotten fed up with wearing glasses. I went to the eye doctor and have astigmatism in one eye and no astigmatism in the other eye. My optometrist prescribed Acuvue Oasys and Acuvue Oasys for astigmatism. The astigmatism lense is very uncomfortable and I can actually feel it in my eye. Whereas I can't feel the contact lense in my non-astigmatism eye. I even tried wearing non-astigmatism lenses in both eyes (Acuvue Oasis) and my eyes are more comfortable like this since I can't feel the lenses in either eye. However, my eyesight gets more blurry and out of focus this way.

I was thinking of switching to Biomedics Toric/Biomedics 55 Premier contact lenses instead and was wondering what people's experiences were using these lenses, especially those of you who have astigmatism?

I prefer to use bi-weekly lenses which is why I'm considering these lenses, but any other recommendations are welcome.

Refractive surgery paid by insurance?

Even with contact lenses, my vision can't be better than 20/50 in my left eye, and 20/30 in my right.

I had cataract surgery last year. Nobody will do anything until two years have passed.

If I have a letter stating that my eyes are not correctable to 20/20 using glasses or contact lenses. The surgery is not elective. Will insurance pay for refractive surgery?

I'm asking if anyone has tried.

How to fix broken glasses lens?

Okay week before the reunion, I can't get a glasses replacement in time for it, these are persecution glasses. I broke the lense (I already fixed the frame, I have broken those many times), but this is the lens itself, and I don't mean a scratch, it is in three separate pieces. I need ideas on how to repair or hold it together just to last me a couple days. I know I will deal with cracks in my line of vision, but I'm blind as a bat so that will be an improvement over my idea of wearing them with an eye patch covering the side of the missing lens.

Boyfriend wearing same pyjamas everyday - depressive? It really annoys me, is that unfair of me?

My boyfriend wears the same grey pyjamas all the time, he rarely puts them in the wash. He wears them and takes his contact lenses out and puts on these glasses which make him look really stern, he has thick black hair and thick eyebrows with a very hooked nose and when he wears the glasses he really looks like his 60 year old dad. He does this everyday and because we argue a lot and he makes tactless comments, I associate his wearing those bloody grey pyjamas with those glasses with us arguing. I never say anything rude to him but really feel like telling him to wash his pyjamas or get new ones. The glasses I hate as well. I find him annoying so when he comes up and keeps grabbing me or grabbing my breasts I don't want to do anything with him but there's been loads of times I go along with it. During the day he seems approachable he doesn't have the mean glasses on and he looks like a 30 year old not a 60 year old, he wears clean clothes and if he approaches me then I don't feel annoyed. It's odd but there's something depressive about him in the evenings - same clothes, same attitude, we argue a lot more. When he takes the glasses off I'm relieved. It's weird because in the beginning I didn't mind the glasses or thebpyjamas but since I know he rarely washes them and he wears the same ones every day summer or winter, it annoys me. Am I being unfair?

Do I need glasses to get my Driver's license or can I use sample contact lenses from the eye doctor while my glasses arrive?

So I have my drivers test this Friday (in four days) it was a bit of a last minute thing since I got a ticket (I've been driving with my permit up until now due to financial issues and not being able to afford insurance: I live in the US. ) so now I HAVE to get a license. Anyways, I have rather bad eye sight and I know for a fact that I WILL NOT pass the eye test without any prescribed lenses. I do have have prescription glasses. However, my dear little niece has broken them this morning. It will take up to 9 business days to replace. My doctor said that he would give me contacts in the mean time which I don't mind. THE PROBLEM IS: my prescription is for glasses and Not and contacts. If I go to the DMV with contacts and my glasses prescription and explain to them what happened, will they let me take the test or make me leave and wait until I get my glasses? This may be a dumb question but I really need an answer.

Can I get coloured contact lens without a prescription?

Hi,

I want to get coloured contact lens purely for cosmetics reasons. However when trying to order online, the websites ask for eye related numbers such as eye curve, which I don't have. My only trouble is, I have nothing wrong with my eyes so my opticians are not willing to give me a prescription for contact lens which means I can't get those vital numbers. Is there any way around this?

What eye problem does one need to be eligible for contacts?

Hi,

I really want to get coloured contact lens purely for cosmetic reasons. However I'm aware you need a contact lens prescription (in the UK), something I would only get if I have an issue with the eye. I see loads of people with contacts but no eye problems. My work involves me starring into a computer screen 8hours a day Monday to Friday, can that be enough of a reason? What sort of eye related issues allow someone to meet the criteria for contacts?

Mild Blood Vessel growth to corneas?

I had my yearly eye exam this morning and the doctor mentioned there was mild blood vessel growth to my corneas. He changed my solution to Bio True and said that if it were worse he would probably make me switch to daily lenses (we had already discussed that I was happy in my current monthlies) but he didn't seem too concerned about it. He asked if I sleep in them which I don't with any regularity maybe 3 times a year (although I did accidentally one day last week, but I worse glasses that day). I didn't think at the time to ask but I was also on vacation in Vegas for a few days so definitely wore then significantly more hours than usual with flights/time change/being up late, would just this week or so have been enough to cause these blood vessel growth? I have worn contacts for 15 years and never been told I have this issue before so wasn't sure if that could be the cause. Thanks for your help!

I can't wear contacts anymore?

My eyesight is really bad, but I can't wear contacts anymore since my eye doctor told me to "rest my eyes" for around 2 weeks. I have glasses, but they are extremely thick and I don't want to wear them to school. My prescription is -6.5 in both eyes. I can't see, so i have to go to school in glasses, but I look so bad in them and the lenses literally come out of the frames. Should i just wear my glasses, or should i try to get through school for 2 weeks with no glasses or contacts on?

Was I assaulted or am I overreacting?

So I went to get my make up done for my prom at a salon. I went with my neighbor, who I now know is a little nuts. Anyway, we went in and waited for a while until it was my turn. After doing a little work she said she was going to give me fake contacts to make me look "prettier". I told her I didn't want it, and that my eyes are sensitive. My neighbor came in and told the hair stylist to not listen to me and put them in. I refused and told them I really didn't want it. Long story short, My neighbor held my arms down real tight and held my head and the stylist forcefully put one contact lens inside. I was so scared, I thought they were going to blind me or something. After it was in I tried taking them out myself… It was a horrible night. I don't know if that counts as assault or not. What do you think?

How do I know if the UV coating on my glasses is fake?

I live in Bangkok but I'm a Canadian citizen. They is a lot of fake stuff here. Believe it or not, one can even get stuff that is a sometimes a knock off inside an indoor shopping centre.

Anyway…

I'm going to get new lenses for my eye glasses as my existing lenses do not have UV protection.

Is there a way to know if they gave me a cheap pair of lenses that do not actually offer UV protection? Would an optician/eye doctor in Canada be able to know by looking at them?

Can I add UV protection (UVA/UVB) to existing glasses?

My glasses are a few years old and I can't remember if they came with UV protection/UV coating or not.

I do not remember the name of the lenses but I bought them at Wal-Mart and they are definitely nothing fancy.

Because I want to protect my eyes, I want to take them to a store and (if possible) add UV protection.

Can a UV coating be added to existing lenses for glasses or would it have to be done when the lense was actually being manufactured?

Hopefully I can take in my glasses and get this added.

Of course there's the obvious answer of calling up some shops. Since I'm staying in Bangkok now there's a bit of a language barrier. Before I venture out to some shops I would like to know if I'm wasting my time in even trying.

Thanks in advance.

Have I been prescribed the wrong contact lens power if I can't focus my eyes on laptop and phone screen?

I had contact lenses that were -4.50 and -4.75. I didn't go to the optometrist for 2 years until now. The new contact lenses that I was prescribed are -6.00 and -6.50. I can see the blackboard well with my new contacts as a student; however, it is much more difficult to focus my eyes on my laptop and phone screen. Is there a problem with my contacts or my eyes?

I'm near sighted with a -2.0 prescription. Wearing contacts corrects my blurry vision fine (words and objects are clearly visible) but I've noticed something strange. When I remove my contact lenses everything appears blurry but at the same time, much crisp and sharper. The contrast in colors and lighting seems much more significant, and even some textures become clearer than they were while wearing contacts. It's strange to me because while wearing contacts my vision is better, but lacking in depth and contrast. I have done some research that is leading me to believe I have a slight astigmatism, but I'm looking for some clarity to see if this may be something else. Any ideas?

Ulcer in my right eye?

I visited an eye doctor last week because it was time for me to get new contact lenses. I went under an eye exam and my doctor informed me of having an ulcer in my right eye. This struct me as odd, because I always had vision problems since a child in my right eye. The second statement she made was that by having an ulcer in my eye I would be experiencing pain and my eye would look different, neither I'm experiencing. She was also reluctant to give me new contact lenses and stated "You can see another doctor if you like, I'm not going to lose my license". She then handed me a referral to make an appointment with a specialist and I left.

What do you guys think? Is it worth going to a different eye doctor?

I went to Specsavers last year about glasses. I couldn't afford them?

Late last year, just before Christmas I went in for an eye test and to pick out new glasses.
I wanted reacter lenses and then the lady said as my eye sight has gotten worse the lenses would need shaving adding to the cost.
I agreed on £72 and left.
I asumed I could pay half and pay the rest later. But when I went in I was told that it wasn't an option and was told to 'save up'.

As it's been months since than I imagine the glasses had been scrapped, I'm embaressed to ask if I can pick out another glasses and just get them thined out.
