Are prescription sunglasses more expensive than regular glasses?

My insurance covers eye exam, basic lenses, and $170 toward the frame. I get this once per year.

My mom had me on her insurance and I recently got my regular eyeglasses (3 months ago) using that. Now I have a new job and vision insurance through them. This means I can get new glasses again. I really need sunglasses because it's always bright and sunny where I live (Phoenix). How do prescription sunglasses work? I assume you just pay an extra fee for the lenses. About how much do they cost?

Before anyone mentions it, I don't want Transitions because they don't work well in the car.

How to know when to throw out contacts? - 1

I started wearing contacts like last week. I wear Air Optix Breathable Contacts for astigmatism. Now, when I went to try putting them in for the first time, the lady who worked at the counter sat down with me and showed me how to do it, but she never freaking told me how long to have them or how to tell which contacts in the boxes I was mailed, were for the left or right eye. She never told me any of that, and my doctor never spoke to me after I got an eye test, so what the hell? I got my year supply in the mail yesterday but theres no directions at all and I can't even tell which ones are for the left or right.My dad needs to call and ask apparently since they never told me anything, but They're not open till Monday and I have school on Monday early in the morning. Were they supposed to tell me in the first place or am I supposed to magically know??? And I also need to know soon cause this morning when I tried to put my contacts in, the solution smelled weird. Like no bad or odor like, just weird. I put the contacts in my eyes and now I'm worried if I'll get an infection or something.

What is this, is it eyestrain?

Hi.

This week I went to a doctor since I have noticed my vision has worsened.In two years, the left eye stayed the same but the right eye went from -1.75 to -3.00.
I also went to an OCT scan, since the doctor suspected something.It turned out that I have a difference between my two eyes (I think it was something to do with a cup to disc ratio, but I'm not sure), and I will have to go to the doctors again in 3 months so we can see if this difference is developing now or is there from my birth.

The doctor has told me that she doesn't think it is developing now though.

She has also told me that I should replace my glasses as soon as possible, however I will do that next week on Saturday, since I'm abroad.
I have noticed that I get this strange feeling on my right eye, but it seems to me like it's getting stronger the more I work with the eye, since I don't feel it in the morning… It's not really pain, it's more like an uncomfortable feeling behind the eye, it feels like the eye muscle is tired or something…
My doctor also said that my eye pressure is very good.

Can someone please answer these questions for me?:

Is this eye strain? If yes, is it normal that the right eye gets more tired because the right lens on my glasses is weak?

Will my eyesight worsen in one week that I will be wearing weaker glasses?

Since my glasses are weaker, should I continue to wear them until I get new ones?

How can I treat this feeling, should I get eye drops or pills or something?

I'm 16 by the way.

Please if you know something more, help me?

So I read online that children between 8 and 16 are the best age to get contact lenses. I'm 13 and I really have bad eyesight and all the glasses I've owned have been damaged because I hate wearing them and usually leave them around. My eyes seem messed up after taking contacts out?

I just got eye contacts today and I was really happy about it, I was told to only wear them for 2 hours today and tomorrow 4 hours so I put them in today with some difficulty cause it was backwards so I had to take it out then put it back in and after that my eye was a little red but it went away after a while then when it was time to take them out I tried to get it out but my eye hurt every time I touched it (left eye). I was finally able to get it out while enduring the pain and the one in my right eye came out without much problem but now my left eye still hurts especially when I blink so I go to look at my eye and its all red but most of that went away after a while and for the pain my eye my dad said put a hot towel over my eyes and that helped but I can still feel a little of the pain and my eye is still a little red its even noticeable from a short distance to make it worse I noticed crust started developing on the sides of my eyes it not a lot just one speck on each eyes side. Sorry this is so long the eye doctor is closed until tomorrow so I can't ask them and my dad just thinks its cause my eyes aren't adjusted to the lens yet, I was so happy about getting contacts but now I regret asking for them

Did I scratch my eye?

I was putting my left contact lens in my eye and it started to hurt really bad so I had to forcefully take it out quickly since the pain was so severe, anyways after that I noticed a little red dot on the white part in my eye.My eye doesn't hurt but the eye sight is blurry and I'm freaking out! My vision is not that bad but not that good. I cannot really see the board at school clearly but that's only when I'm at the back. I'm a 15 yr old female.So I kind of need glasses but i dont know because I assume my prescription will be only very low. I've always wanted glasses! How do I get them? Okay so my contacts have a letter on them. One is labeled "E" and the other one "D". I was wondering is the letter supposed to be on the outside of the contact (the part your fingers touch when putting them on and taking them off) or the inside ( the part that your actual pupil touches)? I cant really go by the "bowl" method because it looks the same each time.

I have a super tiny crack or missing peice on the side of my contact lens?

Ive noticed it for like 4 days now and just today i looked at it closely and it has like a super super tiny peice missing from the side of it but it hasnt been irritating my eye at all.i have the 2 week contacts so the next time i change them is tuesday but im not sure if its ok to wait till then.should i just change out that eye tomorow to be safe or is it ok to use it until tuesday?

Hello,
I have +1.5 with +1.75add. I hate my current progressive lenses(they are not SS), I find myself always tilting my head back for almost everything and even then the reading visual field is horrible (very limited and really narrow at the bottom edge) I don't know if I have the correct prescription because I when I use my laptop I find myself reading through the add and holding my reading material about 2 1/2 feet away. I've being to two different optometrists and they gave me the same prescription (with a .25 difference in one eye) and according to the last one my glasses have the correct prescription.So my two questions are:

1) Is this a matter of personal preference?

2) Is there an Optician (ie. Pearl Vision) that has the best technology to fit progressive lenses?

3) What is the difference between the plain Seiko Supercede and the one with WS?

Contact Lenses Usage?

So I recently bought a pair of colored contact lenses and I was wondering how long i should use them before I dispose of them.It says on the website that it's yearly disposable, but wouldn't that accumulate a lot of bacteria within a year? The normal contacts I use are monthly disposable so I thought it was strange that this was yearly.

Is Opti-Free Express okay for my cat?

The vet said contact solution, as long as it wasn't some sort of different formula, would be just fine. One contact lens uncomfortable?

This is my second day of having contact lenses in and I've found that the lens in my right eye us comfortable but the left is not. I've double checked to see if it's inside out and I'm pretty sure it isn't. I'm really not sure why only my right lens is okay.

I have conjunctivitis in my right eye and it is noticeably red. I have an eye appointment tomorrow with an optician to get contact lenses because I can't stand glasses for numerous reasons. I'm going back to school on 28th of this month and I want to go back with wearing contact lenses. I've been applying a cold teabag onto my eye and I am also using a mixture of salt and water on my eye too.

The appointment is tomorrow at 11am to get an eye test and a contact lens trial. I've been begging my mother for months to get them and I finally persuaded her and now I have an infection :( Do you think he will let me have the contact lens trial with an infection? What to do?

This has been going on for a long time, i tear up way too much at random times, and when i dont it feels like there is an onion near by, it slightly burns, not badly though.i do wear contact lenses, i use them accordingly and nothing like this ever happened to me, i clean them every morning too, i dont think anything is wrong with the solution i've been using it for a year now

Shoul i choose the anti reflective lenses for my glasses?

Should I spend more on these lenses that reduce glare from headlights and fight reflections that cause eye strain and fatigue.
The lenses will have less glare making them look invisible. Should I spend the extra money or will ordinary lenses do just fine

So sometimes, you're just not around hot water and soap and need to put in or take out your contacts. I know that you don't want to use anything alcohol based, but what about the non alcohol based ones - the foamy ones, with Benzalkonium Chloride instead of alcohol?

I just got my ear cartilage pierced today and my piercer told me to use sterile saline. I have no idea what sterile saline is someone please help! Hey all! I have a scheduled eye doctor appointment at the end of the month and I'm wondering if I could by a sunglasses frame and pop out the lenses and put in transition lenses? Would wearing a sunglasses frame full time look weird? I want to get a pair of these sport sunglasses that I really like so I can use them for tennis. But they are pretty expensive so I'm wondering if I get prescribed transition lenses so I can wear them full time? High index lens, glasses?

I'm buying glasses online and im not sure how prescriptions work but mine is -5.75 in one eye and -6.25 in the other
the website recommends I get a high index lens but its very expensive and the one at 1.57 index is free so I rather get that one but would it make a big difference?

I don't understand what it means and id appreciate some info. How much would it effect my vision if I got the cheaper one? is it a big deal?

Alright I know I already posted a question in this section lol but I really need answers
I got a pair of new glasses last month and got my new prescription, so that's up to date. I've decided to get contact lenses and all I need to know is my base curve and all that. I DON'T need another eye exam, I had one last month. The next eye exam I'll need will probably be in 1-2 years

So how much will it cost just to get my eye measurements? I know it varies place to place but could you give me a store and an estimation of the fee?

What will happen if I continue to sleep on my contact lenses?

I've gotten into a really bad habit of just sleeping in my contacts.My contacts are daily disposable ones and I mean I take them out maybe once a month. I just keep forgetting to take them out. I've been trying to take them out, but it makes me eyes hurt and its really really blurry, way worse than before. I was just wondering if I start taking them out now will there still be effects from what 've been doing? Thanks in advance!

Do you throw away contact lens solution after stated date?

The bottle says throw away after 90days but I don't want to waste it I still have one whole bottle, actually I bought it for a long time but also used it after 90days because I just saw the stated time, will something go wrong if I continue to use it? The expire date is dec 2014.

B.Q- do you throw away the case after a few months? do you NEED to throw it away?

Why is my eye half closed?

So I've noticed recently my eye is more closed then the other one,

the doctor has gave me some lacri lube, but it seems to feel a little heavy aswell, I do wear contact lenses aswell!

Has anyone ad the same problem?

Do I have to rub my contacts BEFORE putting them in?

I know that you have to rub them in your palm after you take them out of your eyes to clean them, but let's say I wake up the next morning and want to put them on, can I just take them out of the lens case and put them right in my eye, or do I have to take them out, rub, and THEN put them in? I don't see the point in rubbing before you put them in since 1.you already did it after the last time you took them out, and 2.they've been soaking in solution overnight. I just needed to make sure of this.

I got an eye exam today and I found out that I need glasses. I can't see far far away, sometimes I can't see the blackboard at school when I sit all the way in the back. But other than that, my eyes are good. The eye doctor prescribed me glasses, which my insurance paid for for. I only paid for the eye exam which was 30 dollars. I want colored contact lenses instead of glasses, and my doctor said that I don't really need them because my eyes are that bad. But if I want to get them, then I would have to take another eye test for the contacts, which is 90 dollars (insurance doesn't cover it).

Should I get the contact lenses instead? I'm gonna order them online since its cheaper. I look really ugly with glasses on and wearing them me dizzy at times.Is it worth getting contact lenses when I only need to use them to read far away?

Why can't my eyes get used to contact lenses, even after 1 year?

I've been wearing one-day contact lenses roughly 4 days in a row and 1 day without for the last yeah. I only wear them for 10 hours at a time.It takes me about 30 minutes to put them in because I cannot allow even 1 spec of dust to contaminate it, or it will irritate my eye. Why is it that even after a year, these contact lenses feel semi-uncomfortable, dry, and I keep needing to blink!!!

So on augusttt 7 I hv a contact lens appointemnt at lenscrafters. I hv never worn contacts bfr. I am havin a full eye exam and a contacts fittin& I will gt trial ones the same day to wear for aweek or 2. I hv some? s:

I can't put my contact lenses in because I can't stop blinking?

I could glide my clean index finger on the sclera without blinking but whenever the contacts touch my eyes I'd automatically blink, regardless of the fingers pulling my eyelids back. I'm doing all the right steps and it's so frustrating that I couldn't get it. I was sitting for an hour at the optometrist and could get neither side in. How do I reduce this reflex?

How to persuade my mum to let me get contacts?

I asked her a while back, and it just turned into a blazing row, even though I asked her in a mature and reasonable way. I'm almost fourteen and I feel trapped by my glasses and I would have so much more confidence with contacts. She says I'm not responsible enough to have them, which is unfair because I'm very responsible compared to a lot of people my age and I can't prove I'm responsible enough to wear them until she let's me have them. That is the only reason she's given me for this and I haven't asked again for about five months. I feel like now I'm practically fourteen she needs to start respecting my desicions a bit more but she wouldn't listen last time I asked her (she wouldn't even consider mentioning it to the optician) and I'm scared to ask her again in case she yells at me, but this is something I really want. How can I make her listen and persuade her? If anyone has any solid arguments FOR lenses, that would be great.

Can I wear contacts with a BC of 8.6, if my prescription is 8.4?

I found these contacts that I plan on wearing with a cosplay (Meulin- homestuck) but the base curve of them is 8.6. Would I be fine with wearing these for a couple of hours every other week or so? What are the dangers of wearing these contacts?

Is laser surgery for eyes good or bad?

I'm 18 and my eye sight is weak. -3.
I wanna know if laser surgery is the right thing for my, two of my cousins have gotten it (aged 25 and 18)
But I've heard that they replace your actual lens with an artificial lens which isnt permanent and with time it stops working. And this lens can never be replaced.
Ie your eyesight is likely to get weak after laser surgery and theres no cure for it then but glasses.

Also, I wear lens.In the beginning they were very comfortable but now they irritatate me a bit. And the edge of one of the lens is slughtly broken (but it doesnt fall on the coloured portion of the eye which is called the iris i think).So is this dangerous? And how much do lens last, usually?

New glasses lens is thicker than my old prescription.?

So i got new glasses today.My eye doc said there wasn't a huge difference in the prescription. I decided to go with different frames this time, still rectangle-ish but a little bit longer from the sides than my old ones. However the lenses from the outer edge are s thick, literally double the size of my old ones. I wanted to know why, because this just looks ridiculous.

Well, I need glasses soon and I found a pair that I want
They are D&G ones that are 246.95 plus tax.
So with an eye exam, and all of the stuff I need to do how much would these pair run me?
I also would like to have Transition lenses to be installed also.So how much would that cost too?
So altogether how much would…

How do UV contact lenses work?
