Is it bad to wash semi hard contact lenses in water?

I am a soft contacs wearer and I take good care of them. I know my case and lenses should not be washed or come in contact with water, only the special solution.

I've seen my friend, who wears semi hard contacts, wash both the case and contacts with water, before putting them into her eyes. I told her she shouldn't do it, but she said she was taught to do so.

That makes me wonder… Is it okay to do that with semi hard contacts, and not with soft ones? I always thought the risk of acanthamoeba keratitis is the same with both soft and hard lenses, if they come in contact with water. (yup, I know that disease is very rare, but still)

Thanks!
