Should CEOs be paid less?

The CEOs of top US companies earn 340 times the salary of the average employee. If CEOs were paid significantly less, would that free up company resources to pay employees a $15 minimum wage without downsizing, as higher minimum wage opponents claim? Are salaries the primary source for a CEO's wealth, or do they also make money from stock options?
