!st Draft. Lapiz D., 16/8/2012., U. K., copyright.(2 stanzas, start of longer poem).
"When he gazes, the distant pinks and purples nimbusing the cirrus clouds
What happens in his mind?
Is he thinking of his metre-lens, his balance-sheets, hearing the scampering
of squirrels` feet
Or does he sigh, perplexed, ever, remembering or picturing
Those times past, or ahead, or those he has left wonderingly behind?
When his gaze is closer, measuring these mountains` reaches, does he measure
The influence upon those whom his fine work, somewhere, teaches?
Twilight`s gentlest touches in his appreciative exacting expressive eyes.
Does he know that twilight brushes our view, paints softly here too? Does he realize?
