Optometrist prescribed me baby progressives with a small magnification at the bottom. Can I wear them all the time?

I'm a graduate student and have been having some problems with vision in class and while doing schoolwork. I went to the eye doctor who told me that there was a type of lens called "Eyezen" that would help my vision at school. He said that I do not have to wear them all the time, but that they will help my vision be clearer and my eyes less tired when I'm working for long periods of time.

My prescription was for -.25 distance in one eye (essentially nothing, I know), with +1.25 add.

The glasses they had made for me have only a +.75 add. They told me that this is what the Eyezen lenses come in.

I just got the glasses last week. But for the past year, I have been using reading glasses +1.25 while saving up to get the Eyezen lenses. When I stopped in to pick up the Eyezens, the assistants at the eye doctor told me wearing the +1.25 glasses would harm my vision and that I needed to stop. Is that true?

Also, even though the doctor told me I didn't need to wear my new glasses all the time, I'm finding that I'm so frequently looking at things close up - on my phone, reading, on the computer. Would it be appropriate to wear them all the time, or is it just totally unnecessary?

Thanks!
