Can a plant cell use foreign enzymes?


Plant cells use Rubisco, an enzyme involved in the first step of carbon fixation. If a foreign enzyme that was overall 5x faster and more efficient than Rubisco was introduced into the plants photosynthetic cells, would the cells be able to start using the new enzyme instead of Rubisco? Or would they not because they don't recognize it?
