What age would you let your child start wearing (prescription) colored contacts?


I have recently turned 13 in June, and I have been wearing glasses for three to four years. My mother has said that maybe I would want to consider prescription contacts because glasses can cause grease and buildup on my nose. At the same time, If I were to get rid of my glasses, I wouldn't look unique or like myself. I have been constantly told glasses add to my face because I have a simple face structure. So I thought of colored prescription lenses for my uniqueness and eyesight. Is this a good idea? How long do they last? And where can I research and buy these lenses?
