Gas Permeable Contact Lenses?

I have just gotten my contact lenses from my optometrist and am up to the stage of wearing them for three hours a day today. I have found i have a few questions that probably can't wait until i next see my optometrist, so it would be great for some advice. I have gas permeable contact lenses, and am wearing them for one hour a day, then extending this until i get 'accustomed' to them.

1. My eyes are very teary when i put the lenses in. I can keep them in for even longer than the time that has been set, but my vision is constantly teary. What does this mean? I am worried that what use is it to be able to keep them in for a long time- if my vision is teary?

2. I am a bit unsure as to whether i have the correct cleaning technique… I have two separate bottles- one for conditioning, and the other for cleaning. My optometrist told me to put a couple of drops onto the contact lens in my palm, then to rub gently for about 10 seconds. I then have to get the conditioning solution and rinse the cleaner off. This is the part im not sure of. He said that the lenses should be completely cleaner-free, and i am worried about what happens if the cleaner is still on the lens when i put it back in the case. Will it do anything to my eyes?

I am probably getting too worried, but i really want to get it all right, so im not playing with my only pair of eyes! :) :D

Thanks:) :)
