Contact lenses and sources of eye irritants?

I wish to get contact lenses because… Anything more than 1ft away becomes a blur, quite near sighted, I don't care to have glasses squeezing the life outta my head and nose.

Dry eyes… Could this affect how contact lenses feel on my eye balls? I don't have naturally dry eyes, they get dry from low humidity in breezy/windy moments, which in Florida is uncommon thankfully.

I have no problem touching my eye balls, I tried to just to see how bad it was, about 30 minutes ago, though my eyes tried naturally to close due to the proximity of my fingers, had to use my fingers as the 'jaws of life' lol.

So… Can dry eyes affect contact lenses?
