My eyesight is really bad, but I can't wear contacts anymore since my eye doctor told me to "rest my eyes" for around 2 weeks. I have glasses, but they are extremely thick and I don't want to wear them to school. My prescription is -6.5 in both eyes. I can't see, so i have to go to school in glasses, but I look so bad in them and the lenses literally come out of the frames. Should i just wear my glasses, or should i try to get through school for 2 weeks with no glasses or contacts on?

Was I assaulted or am I overreacting?
So I went to get my make up done for my prom at a salon. I went with my neighbor, who I now know is a little nuts. Anyway, we went in and waited for a while until it was my turn. After doing a little work she said she was going to give me fake contacts to make me look "prettier". I told her I didn't want it, and that my eyes are sensitive. My neighbor came in and told the hair stylist to not listen to me and put them in. I refused and told them I really didn't want it. Long story short, My neighbor held my arms down real tight and held my head and the stylist forcefully put one contact lens inside. I was so scared, I thought they were going to blind me or something. After it was in I tried taking them out myself… It was a horrible night. I don't know if that counts as assault or not. What do you think?

What colored Toric lenses (for astigmatism) do you use? And where do you get them?

How do I know if the UV coating on my glasses is fake?
I live in Bangkok but I'm a Canadian citizen. They is a lot of fake stuff here. Believe it or not, one can even get stuff that is a sometimes a knock off inside an indoor shopping centre.
Anyway…
I'm going to get new lenses for my eye glasses as my existing lenses do not have UV protection.
Is there a way to know if they gave me a cheap pair of lenses that do not actually offer UV protection? Would an optician/eye doctor in Canada be able to know by looking at them?

Can I add UV protection (UVA/UVB) to existing glasses?
My glasses are a few years old and I can't remember if they came with UV protection/UV coating or not.
I do not remember the name of the lenses but I bought them at Wal-Mart and they are definitely nothing fancy.
Because I want to protect my eyes, I want to take them to a store and (if possible) add UV protection.
Can a UV coating be added to existing lenses for glasses or would it have to be done when the lense was actually being manufactured?
Hopefully I can take in my glasses and get this added.
Of course there's the obvious answer of calling up some shops. Since I'm staying in Bangkok now there's a bit of a language barrier. Before I venture out to some shops I would like to know if I'm wasting my time in even trying.
Thanks in advance.
