Now, I was told by my optometrist a long time ago, that if you wear contacts that they don't correct for astigmatism, like eyeglasses can. I don't wear contacts right now, but was thinking about going to them at some point, and I do have an astigmatism in my eyes. Recently, I started seeing some contact lenses being advertised as specifically for astigmatism. Brands such as Acuvue Oasys brand, or Air Optix for Astigmatism, etc. Was my optometrist wrong? Or are these new developments in contacts, that he may not have known about? Or is this just some kind of marketing gimmick by the contact lens companies?
