It's the "argument" that because something hasn't happened before, it'll never happen.
ie, optometrist says "we can't dispense contact lenses without checking your eyes in case you develop ulcers/ scarring/ discomfort/ infection/ abrasions"
Patient replies "well I've never had any of that before.In fact I've worn lenses for 20 years and not had a single problem"
The argument is that because they've never had a problem before, they're not likely to have one in the future.
But nobody ever has a medical problem. Until they get one.
